When it comes to large insurance companies the only thing we have is a platform and a voice. I am very pissed so here you go. Nationwide pet insurance (who is not on your side) has been taking my premiums for the last three years for GIGI. We were told we had the very best insurance, low deductible, and max coverage. As a lot of you are aware GIGI was rushed to Davis University and had to have 2 discs in her back removed. This cost us $12,500. One day later we sent her to VEG. She had to have throat surgery as she could not breathe, the doctors said she would die if we did not do the surgery, which cost us over $18,000. We love this little girl and would have done it with or without the insurance. Nationwide (who was not on my side) would only accept the claim online. I spent 4 days trying to make sure it was correct. I admit I am not the brightest bulb when it comes to this. After all was said and done they denied 80% of the claim. Reasons for the denial included not filing the claim correctly. To be fair this was my first filing a pet claim online. I was then told it was congenital, so what they are saying is she must have had this at birth. When we purchased the policy they sent her to the vet for inspection and she passed. This is nothing more than a large company trying to limit their liability. I will tell you this is no longer about the money. I now have a new mission, to let everybody know. We are spending our hard-earned money to protect our pets and ability to save their lives. Now that we have a pissed Kevin I am looking forward to my new mission, Every chance I get I will let everybody know!

Nationwide - Limit on pet's age for illness coverage was not disclosed online
I enrolled my two dogs for insurance last year in October and cancelled both. I did the enroll process online and chose illness coverage, accidents and wellness. My surprise was when I got the policies the illness coverage was denied due the age of my dogs, however when I did the enrollment online they never disclosed to me that there was a limit on the pet's age. They need to disclose this online when you input the pet's age and not after the enrollment.

Nationwide - Manipulated and robbed
I obtained pet insurance for both my dog and my cat. My dog had a dental exclusion. I was told after my dog had his teeth pulled and a cleaning, they would remove that exclusion. He had 19 teeth pulled and all out of pocket due to the exclusion. I was then told that they will not remove the exclusion. In fact, they added several more exclusions that cam AFTER I signed up for insurance which means they should have covered it as it came but instead they just added to the exclusion. Any surgery side of issues would basically not be covered and all of his wellness would cap out which would make having the insurance more expensive than not having it whether from wellness or emergency service needs. I also had insurance for my cat and it cost more to have the insurance than to keep him up to date with other needs. The customer service rep was very kind and turnaround time on claims are quite rapid which is how I ended up with a 2 star rating. Other than that, very manipulative and not worth the money.

We have heard good things about nationwide pet insurance. The repersentative we dealt with was impatient with our questions. we recieved our policy n the mail today, Mar 31, 2025 and, our pets name is mispelled even though I Spelled it several time to the rep and she even repeated the spelling back to me
