Nationwide - We have had pet insurance from…
We have had pet insurance from nationwide for over ten years. For my current dog, it has been 7 years. The company decided to stop offering the policy that my dog had for all these years. I am now expected to re-apply as if he were a brand new dog. Any conditions that he has now, like his allergies, are considered a pre-existing condition that will not be covered under the new policy. We also have to jump through hoops to provide nationwide with his prior physical documentation - over six months old, even though they have that information on record under his previous policy.

They automatically took my money but I don't see a response about if and when my plan will start.
Nationwide - Astronomical policy premium increase
I have had Nationwide pet insurance for my pets for close to 8 years. I now have 3 pet policies and never had 1 claim on any of them. My oldest pet now 8 years old had a policy renewal this month. My monthly plan is around $50 per month, with this years renewal my payment we up to around $90. This is an increase of $35 PER MONTH!!!! On a policy that has not had ONE claim. This is the SECOND increase in 13 months, I had an $10 increase last year upon renewal. That is almost an increase of $50 in 13 months! While I understand the need to adjust the premium, but my monthly payment has almost doubled in 13 months. I called and was told the increase in a result of the average of the issues other pets of the same age and breed have had and the ONLY way to lower the payment amount is to raise my deductible. So let me get this straight, I started my policy 8 years ago choosing the lowest deductible paying more each month so in the event we needed to use the policy it would be less out of pocket. Now the only way to lower my almost doubled monthly premium is to raise my deductible which means MORE MONEY OUT OF MY POCKET if I need to use the policy. I should have used the higher deductible amount all along!!!! I've paid nearly $4,000 over a 8 year period to keep my deductible lower and now the only way to be able to afford this policy is to raise my deductible from $250 to $1,000. So assuming I need to use this policy, I'm out $1,000 on top of the premiums I've already paid, so close to $5,000. Why have insurance!!!! Now my pet is too old to go anywhere else without paying more. Well done Nationwide Pet...WELL DONE! Kudos for figuring out how to really stick it to you long time clients!
Nationwide - I just wanted wellness
I just wanted wellness. But your site states that I had to get accidental. It also states that accidental would not be approved for 2 weeks and wellness was right away. You guys wanted 2 months in advance. No problem. I scheduled my pup for a wellness visit and went to print out the docs. Both the wellness and accidental was effective in 2 weeks. Talking about a bait and switch.
So I called the rep and she stated to me a lie….”oh yeah, if you would have just had the wellness alone, it is right away.” That’s a lie because your policy states that you had to have accidental with all plans chosen. I even went back in to disprove her statement.
So I had to cancel her visit because had I went in, it would have been all out of pocket costs and they wouldn’t have covered anything.
Nationwide - Your website is shit…
Website kept glitching and telling me it didn't go through, only to go find I got 2 confirmation emails that my application is being reviewed
Nationwide - I’ve been paying $90 a month expecting…
I’ve been paying $90 a month expecting peace of mind for my pet’s health. Instead, I’ve received nothing but frustration. Not a single one of my claims has been approved – not even the most basic or clearly eligible expenses. Every time I submit a claim, it feels like they find some excuse to deny it.
Their customer service is slow, unhelpful, and seems more interested in avoiding payouts than actually supporting pet owners. What’s the point of insurance if it never actually covers anything?
I feel completely scammed. This company has taken thousands from me and given absolutely nothing in return. Save your money and avoid this company at all costs.
Nationwide - I loved nationwide when I first got it…l
I loved nationwide when I first got it in 2020, over the years not so much. Their plans changed and I feel like I should’ve been grandfathered with the plan I had. I regret renewing both of my policies. I should’ve shopped around. I will not be renewing next year.
Nationwide - Scam
Scam. I subscribed through my employer for a pittance of a "discount," only to have coverage severed when the pets reached a certain age. We had an emergency vet visit on the final day of coverage, and they denied it due to "terminated coverage." Wrong, sir. WRONG, in every sense of the word. I will never purchase a Nationwide product of any sort. in my opinion, they have stolen from me and made false promises.
Nationwide - Your pricing system was completely…
Your pricing system was completely lying after I plugged in my dog’s information. This is a scam
I had no idea my dog's pet insurance lapsed. I signed up for paperless billing and information, and only recieved a paper (via mail) document stating it had lapsed. Why did I not recieve an email about this? It seems purposeful. I had to re-sign up her at double the cost.
