Nationwide - The website needs work
Too many pop-ups I don't like your website and it doesn't explain what the next process is and it should give the customer an option right away to add another pet to see what the discount would be before asking for the money right up front for the first pet
Nationwide - I haven’t received anything about…
I haven’t received anything about coverage in the mail. No phone call. No email. Nothing. I don’t even know if we have a policy at this point.
Nationwide - When signing up the price changed after…
When signing up the price changed after I received my confirmation email. Not sure if that’s normal but I feel pricing seemed not transparent.
Nationwide - Do NOT insure with Nationwide
Do NOT insure with Nationwide Pet Insurance!! Thousands of cancelations for no reasons. Cannot trust this insurance company for ANY type of insurance. BEWARE!!!
Nationwide - Not sure why I had to pay for 2 months…
Not sure why I had to pay for 2 months up front. Didn't have to do that the last time since the premium is automatic withdrawn from my paycheck.
Nationwide - Relationship with company absolutely ruined!
On behalf of my family: 10+ years of using their services can be erased by one piece of paper mail that you never received stating that they would stop the specific coverage/plan type in your state. No email, no messages on our account, just a sudden "expired" in the middle of the only medical emergency my cat has ever had. And now, they are denying total and any coverage of her because they now consider her medical emergency to be "pre-existing" when they made me reapply as if I were an entirely new customer, despite having my entire old record showing that this only began occurring in the last two months! No option to grandfather in, no sympathy, no accountability for the lack of communication! So now I have no coverage at all. 8 pets and over a decade of loyalty to this company were completely erased by their inability to send anything more than a piece of snail mail to notify me of these changes, even though I had signed up to be paperless!! Completely unacceptable in this day and age of technology, and how untrustworthy and backhanded of a company to treat their long-time customers this way.
Nationwide - Benefits don't account for increased costs
I had always been happy with my Nationwide Pet Insurance and recommended them to everyone, until now. Insurance saved me quite a bit of money in the past with both my dogs, however, they don't save you nearly as much as they used to, and I'm not sure the cost of the policy is worth the amount they reimburse for. I'm sure everyone has noticed a significant increase in veterinary expenses; diagnostics like X-rays, ultrasounds, and medications have gone up in price substantially in the last five years, as well as the cost of insurance, yet the coverage the insurance provides is the same as it was back in 2018 when I first got my pets insurance policy. My insurance has gone up $100.00 per month in the last two years, but the amount they reimburse for everything has remained the exact same amount. I find that to be a bit insane. I guess it's to be expected when it comes to insurance companies, but it's hard to justify spending over $2500 per year on pet insurance, which now only covers about half the amount of the vet bills. I'm still left paying thousands, on top of the thousands I'm paying for coverage. If my dog weren't a senior at this point, I'd be shopping for a new insurance company, but I definitely won't be referring people anymore. I would think that at least some sort of benefits increase would be warranted at this point.

Nationwide - No longer a great insurance as of 2024
If you are shopping for pet insurance. Be aware of the age of the reviews you are looking at. I have been a Nationwide pet insurance customer for 8+ years, and was always recommending NW because they really helped me take care of my pet through the years, claims were easy, and I had peace of mind if anything ever went wrong.
That is all over now, and I wouldn't recommend NW to anyone ever again. AND I am going back to the people I recommended them to to warn them.
In 2024, NW raised my premium 3x what I was paying from around $55 to $167 monthly.
In 2025, after my dog was diagnosed with a medical condition and I needed insurance more than ever, they dropped my coverage from 90% to 50%, and still are trying to charge the same $167 monthly premium. Now the insurance isn't worth it at the exorbitant premiums they are charging for basically no coverage.
I am so disappointed with this company. Everything they "promise" on their website is BS. This is not the best pet insurance, they are not on your side, and they do not offer complete coverage or confidence anymore.
For being with nationwide for so long, they have screwed me out of being able to switch insurances because now we have a preexisting condition and my senior dog's needs aren't going to be able to be met. I have been paying for this insurance for 8+ years for the peace of mind, and it wasn't worth it with this coverage drop. Thanks for nothing Nationwide. You should be ashamed of these policy changes.
