Pets Best - Im real broke these days, Dog turned 8 and insurance doubled
My dog just turned 8 and her insurance with pets best doubled. Where im at financially is not great, im just able to get by with my exisiting bills, part of why i have pet in isurance, for the chance something terrible happens like a broken tooth or torn tendon or whatever may happen. Shes healthy. Has allergies but theyre not on her med record as far as i know. I just am trying ti debate if i should set the money aside each month for an emergency fund for her, rather than pay the insurance fee. My fear is something qill happen before i have a good savings, though i usually try to have $1000 emegency money for pet or car stuff, im not quite there yet atm. I have decent credit so if something happe ef im sure i can do a payment plan of some sort. Idk im just wondering if its worth it anymore at the price theyre expecting. My 3 yo dog is clumsy as hell so im keeping his insurance. I just know theres going to be a day he falls the wrong way and tears a tendon or something hahaha!
Any advice is really welcome, im just so broke these days and i really want to find the best option that ensures my pup can get the treatment she may need in an emergency.
Insurance Commission of WA - Regrading loss of salary
Location: perth wa
Last year my partner got rear ended in march 2024 while they were on the way to work. Got admitted in Fiona stanly for three days to do test and scans and lodged the claim with insurance commission of wa . They kept asking documents and stuff for 4-5 months yesterday (after 1 year going back and forth)got payed $787 from insurance commission as one of payment as a loss of salary while they are still not capable to be back to work. Is it worth proceeding it with legal ways to get compensation for the loss of salary. Salary was $950 average a week.
Thank you
Spot - Pet Insurance - Pre-Existing Conditions
Hi All,
Looking for some advice/experience dealing with pet insurance. I have 2 sister cats, 5 years old. I just spent an obscene amount of money on dental work for one of them and am trying to determine if pet insurance makes sense for me going forward.
Cat 1 has had some eye infections in the past, at this point treated but she will flare up occasionally when she's stressed. I'm worried that will be considered a pre-existing condition and won't be covered because she's received treatment before.
Cat 2 is the dental work one, and I am anticipating more cleanings in her future. Does previous dental work trigger a pre-existing condition or have you seen that in your experience? She's also getting treatment right now for an ear infection and I'm worried she's susceptible to those as well and that will also be flagged as pre-existing.
I have no faith that an insurance company will deal with me fairly, so I'm wondering if it's even worth it if any of these issues won't be covered as they're what I go to the vet for usually.
I have a number of options for insurance based on my employer's perk programs. I see a place like Spot will cover issues after 180 days, but then it seems like they only cover $100 on dental cleaning? That doesn't seem like much when for cats they have to sedate them anyway?
I'm sort of rambling but I guess my ultimate question is - is it too late to get insurance for these cats because I've been diligent on getting them treatment in the past?
Mohela - Advice regarding identity theft leading to fraudulent loan being opened
Hey, Reddit - hoping someone can help me with a direction to take regarding my issue.
Location: Houston, Texas
Back in early 2023, I found out via an alert from my bank that my credit score worsened because a lender has been trying to reach me. I panicked because 1. I have thankfully never needed any loans and 2. I normally have a great credit score. I did some investigating and found out that apparently, an education loan had been opened in my name only about six months prior in a completely different state (Albuquerque, New Mexico). I live in Houston, Texas and the loan was opened for a community college in Albuquerque. For backstory, I graduated from college over 10 years ago and I’m thankful to say that I never needed any loans to get through any of my schooling. I did everything I could to fight this loan over the last two years since discovering it. I reached out to the lender (Mohela) and explained my situation in detail, filled out a large packet that they requested to dispute the loan and prove my identity with several various supplemental documents in my possession to help support my case. This was mailed to them ASAP and is STILL under review 2 years later. I filed a police report with my local police station and they even spoke to the Albuquerque police department to warn them of the identity theft and to give them the local Albuquerque home address that was wrongly associated with my name. I corrected all incorrect contact information associated with the loan and with all three credit reporting bureaus, and immediately froze my credit across all three. I flagged any mention of the loan across all three credit bureaus as fraud and to dispute it. I have provided all three credit bureaus with supporting documentation to prove my identity along with the police report. I even called the community college in Albuquerque and spoke to several people there, asked them to close the promissory note for the loan since it was due to identity theft. I sent them my police report as well. I filed a report on [identitytheft.gov](http://identitytheft.gov/). I have called the lender every few months, have to explain my situation all over again to whatever agent I get connected with, why I won’t be making payments on this loan, and continue to ask for a forbearance on my account while my case continues to be reviewed and hopefully dismissed in the near future.
Despite all of this, even two years later, the loan still appears on my credit reports because it is still being reviewed and has not yet been dismissed. I am at my wits end and am now thinking I need to hire a lawyer to help me fight this, but I have no idea what type of lawyer and how to even find someone who can help me. I also have no idea how much it would cost.
If anyone can offer any advice on the best direction I can take, I would greatly appreciate it.
Lemonade - Any advice on how to deal with a probable rejection that will likely result from inaccurate vet notes?
I've had pet insurance with Lemonade going on five years for my cat. I just had to submit a claim for her, but I'm super worried I'm going to get a rejection because the nurse took inaccurate notes. When we were discussing my cat's history, I said that her chronic gastrointestinal issues started after her first attack of pancreatitis 'shortly after she was adopted.' The nurse instead noted that her chronic gastrointestinal issues started 'right after adoption.'
I'm super worried that this will lead to my claim being rejected and my former claims being marked as fraud. Her issues didn't start until about 3-4 months after I got her vet insurance, and that was after the illness waiting period had passed. They covered her pancreatitis when it occurred in March 2021, and I adopted her in November 2020. Does anyone have any advice on how to prepare for the rejection which I assume is coming? Is the only thing I can do is ask the company to review her old vet records and see how they don't line up with what the nurse typed before that moment? Any advice is welcome!
homeowners insurance - In limbo with dog bite lawsuit.....
Location: Philly, Pa
Any ideas???
Back in July our dog bit our neighbor. One of the kids let the dog out, and he bit them. We knew from the jump we were going to get sued. We got a lawyer when we received a letter from theirs. They wanted our homeowners insurance info. Welp..... come to find out, ours doesn't cover animal injuries or damage. So, after a month or 2, they asked if we wanted to just settle out of court. Of course we did. They came at us with a settlement. We weren't able to get the full amount but came back to them with a lump sum right away then asked to make 2 monthly payments to settle the rest. After weeks, they declined it and we received a letter from a new attorney asking for our homeowners insurance. Ummm... we already told them we didn't have coverage. So, our lawyer was going to get with them, we paid him another retainer (ughhhh), and he told us there was nothing to do as of now until he hears something. He said he would get back to us. It's been 2 months and still have not heard anything.
What is going on???? Like we were going give them exactly what they wanted. They were just playing with us I guess and now we just wait???
Any ideas on why the wait game? I just want this over with. And just in case you all want to know, we are not made of money. We have 2 kids in college and 2 little kids. We live pay check to pay check and had to get a loan to pay the lawyer and that settlement they first asked for.
It was a totally misfortunate accident, we were devastated for them, and are deeply sorry. We are good people with a good family.
Thanks
Foremost - Llyod’s of London in CA for HO insurance?
Does anyone have experience with this company? I don’t expect any claims but how are they in this area?
I’ve had Foremost for several years but this renewal they screwed me with 3x increase. No claims. I’m in SoCal.
Apparently another broker couldn’t find me a quote and my current broker has ignored several of my inquiries for options.
I understand it’s tough to get affordable fire insurance in Cali. Arghhhh
the other driver's insurance - My car was deemed "totaled" and Insurance company asking me to send photos of inside of car for them to appraise value.
My car is being considered Totaled based on the accident photos. To determine the value of the car the adjuster is asking me to take pictures of the inside of the car only. I requested for them to send someone over to look at the car in person, and they say they don't send appraisers to look at cars, that they only base it on the pictures.
They said that if I wanted to get the car repaired that I can, but they would consider it as "Salvaged" and there's a process for that. They would send me a salvaged title, etc.
Wouldn't they assess it lower based on inside images only? What about the rest of the car, they don't care about it?
What can I do about this. I have also let them know I paid for my registration, bought some new lights, tires, etc. recently, and they asked for the receipt of these items, which I will send but how can I know that I'm not being offered really low?
What makes me the most concerned is that I had a body shop come see the car and they tell me that they consider the car's value much higher than the repair. This is why I wish they could bring someone over instead. The car aside the accident part, is in great shape, why can't they be fair and bring someone to do this properly? This is being done by the other driver's insurance.
Progressive - Need advice/Help!!!
I’m currently with Prgrssive insurance I star with them about 3 years ago I’m 27yo. First car insurance with them paid $700 for 6 months the following year they bumped out the price for $850+ for 6 months and this year I got $900 for 6 months. No accident zero report at all why they kept bumping my prices? I’m from New Jersey. I’m thinking of switching insurance and your recommendation or what I need to do to pay around $700 for 6 months if possible, thank you!
