Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Healthy paws pet insurance
Is it even legal for Healthy Paws pet insurance to increase premiums at almost 200% in CA? This is outrageously high!! Anyone experiencing the same?

Her insurance - Can I fix my car first and then sue the other driver in small claims if they’re dodging their insurance?
About a week ago, I was stopped in traffic when a woman rear-ended me. I won’t go into all the details, but she was a bit evasive at the scene. She did give me her insurance information, though. I only have liability coverage through my own policy, so I filed a third-party claim with hers.
I called her insurance today, and they told me she hasn’t responded to their attempts to get her statement. The evidence is pretty clear - she had a license plate cover on the front of her car, and the text from it literally left an imprint, like a stamp, dead center on the rear bumper of my car.
I really need my car, but my rear bumper is sagging, and I don’t think it’s safe to keep driving it like this. Based on her behavior at the scene and the fact that she’s now ghosting her insurance, I have a strong feeling she’s just going to keep evading responsibility.
Given this, I’m wondering: is it okay if I pay out of pocket to fix my car now and then sue her in California small claims court to recover the cost? If so, what kind of evidence should I gather to make my case? For example, should I ask the auto body shop for a written statement detailing the damage and cost to repair?
Thanks in advance.
Corebridge - Claim processing time
My dad (57M) died by suicide in September. He had an adjustable life policy with Corebridge (formerly AIG) since 1986, so well beyond the exclusion period.
We had trouble getting the death certificate and ending up filing the claim in December. We didn’t have access to his policy documents but we found out my mother (dad’s ex-wife) was the primary beneficiary. With my sister and I (his adult children) being the contingent beneficiaries.
Due to revocation upon divorce laws, my mother will more than likely be denied the claim. Their divorce decree does not make note of life insurance, my dad simply just didn’t change it after 14 years of divorce. Corebridge advised she file the claim anyway and wait. Well, the claim was filed in December, all paperwork sent in on December 9th. I figured it would take some time with the holidays and all but it’s been just about 3 months. I’ve called several times with them just claiming it’s still under review. Corebridge said claims normally process within 7-10 business days but they have no update as to what is the hold up.
Is this pretty standard? Also, should I wait to see the outcome of my mom’s claim? Or should I just go ahead and file my claim? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Progressive Insurance - Progressive Insurance question
Hoping someone could possibly shed a little light on my situation. My daughter wrecked her car in front of our house on March 2nd. On March 5th Progressive sent the tow truck to retrieve the vehicle which they towed to an IAA auction yard to have it appraised. The appraiser went on the 7th. I spoke with someone from progressive on the 8th who needed to verify a few things. She said something about it being a total loss which at that time I didn’t know, which apparently she thought I had already been contacted. I told her I hadn’t so she said well I’ll just go over it real quick even though this isn’t my department. She said that it was a deemed a total loss and they valued my car at $8200 something (I don’t really remember the exact number) Little lower than I expected but okay. Anyway I logged into the app to check the status of the claim and I do see it’s a total loss but the only thing I see is the appraisers repair estimate for $8289 and the deduction for the deductible. Is that what they are actually valuing the car at? Or is that simply a repair estimate? We still owe on the car so I’m trying to plan accordingly. I’ve contacted our adjuster but have left messages with no return call as of yet.
Fetch - Pet insurance Fetch increased premium
My dog is 10 years old (small mix 21 lbs) and we have had fetch insurance for 10 years. The premium increases yearly have been high, but this year it is ludacris. I just got an email that my premium will be increased from 1500 to 3000 this year!!! She has been pretty much a healthy dog except this past year she needed dental extractions. ideally, I wouldn’t want to change companies since she is an older age, but I cannot be paying $3000 a year. I have been looking for possibly switching insurances however, my concern is now that she is older and has had teeth removed—Is this considered a pre-existing condition?
Sidenote, interestingly enough, I requested a brand new quote through fetch and they quoted $150 per month with the same coverage. Hmmm.
Does anybody have recommendations for pet insurance plans?
USAA - Can anyone help an Army Combat Veteran who needs auto insurance?
I was a USAA member for 18 years, 15 of which with a good driving record.
For a 11 of those years I served in the US Army, with 10 combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. I was awarded the Bronze Star, among other honors. I was discharged honorably.
After the military about three years ago I was going through traumatic personal issues and often drove distracted. During a 12 month period I was in a series of low impact auto accidents. Two of them were just backing into somebody’s fender in a parking lot.
However 6 months after the last accident the computer at USAA determined I was too high risk and without providing any kind of appeal process sent me an automated letter informing me they would no longer cover me. I called and I was informed that there was no appeal process for the computers decision.
The computer didn’t request my military record, nor consider my driving record for 15 years prior to that, and the humans at USAA would only listen to a computer that doesn’t understand nor care about context or give credit for military service. I was informed that there was no human being capable of overriding the computer’s decision at any level of the company.
I’ve tried every major insurance company, and all of the minor ones that I can find, and they all use the same computer algorithm.
I was never impaired.
I didn’t hurt anybody.
I’m not required to be on an SR 22.
I have a valid drivers license.
.. and I cannot get auto insurance.
Recently, I did find two places that would insure me,
.. for $2000 a month..
I have been unable to work for close to a year.
Soon, I will lose my house.
Does anybody know of any insurance company where human beings are still allowed to make their own determination?
Is there any way to get commercial auto insurance through an LLC that doesn’t require my driving record?
Is there any way to challenge my driving record, or have it improved?
Or anything that I can do to convince the computer, or any person I could talk to at the state level or in the private sector that might be able to help me?
I’ve tried everything I can think of.
I don’t know where else to go.
Thank you in advance 🙏🏻
Pets Plus Us - Warning - Pets Plus Us
I would like to warn people before signing up with Pets Plus Us. They are “endorsed” by Costco and I thought that meant they must be decent.
I signed up with them in 2014 when my dog was 10 weeks old. My dog is now 10.5 years old and this is my experience:
Since 2021 they have approved $29 and $26 dollars of claims.
In November 2022 they approved their last reimbursement for $29.
They rejected a claim for an autoimmune disorder despite the fact a surgeon and specialist reached out on our behalf and provided published information proving that under PetsPlusUs guidelines it should have been covered…we paid $7500 out of pocket for that in 2022.
Despite not approving any claims since November 2022, when my dog turned 10 (June 2024) they DOUBLED his monthly rates. And claimed that had nothing to do with age.
Today I received an email advising that my dog’s plan is being “discontinued” so they I can pick a new plan to “better meet my needs” however, pre-existing conditions will not be covered.
I called to cancel our policy today. We were loyal clients for nearly 11 years and this is how they “value” us.
Embrace - Embrace almost doubling premium
My monthly premium with Embrace was $54 a month and I just got a notice it will be $93 a month. This is an obscene increase. My pet is an almost 8 year old male cat I have had since he was 2. He has been in great health with no issues. I’ve had embrace since I got him.
Should I get new pet insurance? I’ve seen really mixed reviews about embrace being a scam. There is absolutely no justification for this premium increase in my opinion, but I’d like it get other thoughts.
Healthy Paws - Electrochemotherapy and Pet Insurance Coverage
Hello can anyone share if their pet insurance covered electrochemotherapy for their pet? I have healthy paws and inquired and they said it “may be covered” subject to policy rules. However electrochemotherapy is not FDA-approved in the United States and healthy paws policy states they don’t cover non FDA-approved treatments. Just looking for some insight. Thanks.
