Pets Plus Us - Cat claim
This was the worst experience I’ve had I had two bad experiences with both of my pets this company lacks communication and info for customers after 6 months paying premiums input claim in they called told me they had to cancel my policy I’m so upset frustrated after talking to numerous people I was still left very unsatisfied and furious !!!
Pets Plus Us - Avoid This Company – Terrible Experience
This insurance company has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. They don’t respond to emails, even though they recommend this as a way to communicate. When you call, they give you the runaround, and the information from one manager contradicts what another told me just days earlier.
I paid premiums for six months to insure my two healthy cats. Both have all necessary international documentation, including microchips, passports, vaccines, and veterinary certificates. After six months, I took one of my cats to the vet for an ear infection and advice on food, as the cat had vomited three times in one week. The veterinarian explicitly noted in the medical file that vomiting is “not unusual.” The issue resolved entirely after switching food, which is also documented in the file.
Despite this, the company claimed I hadn’t provided the “correct” medical documents—even though the documents I provided fully complied with the requirements outlined in their User Guide. I sent all required documentation when I enrolled and clearly stated, “If you need anything else, please contact me.” They never contacted me. Instead, six months later, they retroactively canceled my policy and promised a refund. It’s now been over three weeks, and I still haven’t received my money.
To make matters worse, they created new policies for my cats and labeled everything from that vet visit—including notes from the anamnesis (not even a diagnosis)—as pre-existing conditions. For example, they listed:
“Vomiting / Emesis and associated conditions”
Seriously? Vomiting is a natural behavior for cats (e.g., regurgitating hairballs). It’s also a symptom of countless possible conditions. By labeling it a pre-existing condition, they’re essentially trying to exclude everything.
This company doesn’t provide insurance—they provide excuses to deny coverage. Avoid them at all costs.

Pets Plus Us - How is this legal?
After eight years as a Pets Plus Us customer, I'm incredibly disappointed with the recent changes and lack of communication I've experienced. What started as a reliable insurance provider for my furry friend has transformed into a frustrating and potentially predatory service.
The initial shock came when I noticed a premium didn't come out of my bank account. Upon calling Pets Plus Us, I was informed that my policy was discontinued and I hadn't opted into their new coverage. The problem? I never received any notification of this significant change. This lack of communication alone is unacceptable for a long-standing customer.
However, the real issue lies in the details of the new plan. I was offered a policy with drastically reduced coverage – a drop from $5000 per incident to a mere $3000 annually total. This represents a massive decrease in protection for my pet. To add insult to injury, this downgraded coverage comes at a higher price, nearly $30 more per month than my previous policy.
When I raised my concerns with Pets Plus Us, I was essentially told that this severely limited plan was my only option. Furthermore, they informed me that if I chose to explore other plans or insurance providers with better coverage, any prior vet visits – even for common issues like vomiting or accidental ingestion – would be considered pre-existing conditions. This is a blatant attempt to strong-arm loyal customers into accepting a subpar product with significantly reduced benefits.
This tactic feels incredibly disingenuous and borderline unethical. To penalize customers for exploring better options after unilaterally changing their policy is a terrible practice. It leaves me questioning the integrity of the company and its commitment to its customers.
My loyalty of eight years has been met with a complete lack of transparency, a significant reduction in coverage, and thinly veiled threats. While I understand that companies can change their policies, the way Pets Plus Us has handled this transition is deeply concerning.
I'm left wondering how this is even legal, and more importantly, I'm incredibly disappointed that this is how Pets Plus Us treats its long-standing customers. Be warned: what appears to be a reliable and trustworthy insurance provider can quickly become a source of frustration and financial burden. I highly recommend carefully reviewing your policy and exploring all available options before committing to Pets Plus Us.
Pets Plus Us - Good until they decide to discontinue your insurance and provide you with a new one that is triple the price and way less coverage
I've been a customer for over 7 years and suddenly and coincidently after my dog has been needing reimbursement for illnesses, they have discontinued my insurance and will only provide me with one that is 3x the price and with way less coverage. Before this change I was paying $50 a month for $1500 per illness/accident. Now they have offered me with $160 a month for $3000 max a year. I cannot change this plan without my dog's current conditions being excluded (what I need the insurance for). I cannot switch providers because my dog's current conditions will not be included. If I were to sign up with the same company for the first time I would pay $170 for $7500 yearly coverage. The kicker is that they knew in December that this was going to happen - before my dog's issues - but only told me in February, 1.5 months before I get to decide if I want to continue coverage. Needless to say, this experience has taught me that this is an insurance company. They are trying to make money, not trying to help me and my dog out.
Pets Plus Us - It's always a hit or miss
I really don't trust this insurance company. Every time I submit a claim, you'll never know if they'll cover the costs or come back with something new and denying the reimbursement. They've changed my policy twice and both I've proved that they were wrong. I really don't recommend to anyone and look for a serious insurance instead of Petsplusus.
Pets Plus Us - Think Twice Before Choosing PetPlus US
After paying premiums for over 9 years—two of my surgery claims totaling approximately $14,000 were denied without proper justification. Despite being a long-term customer, the support and coverage I expected were simply not there when I needed them most.
I've since spoken to other pet parents who have had better experiences with alternative providers. Sadly, due to the age of my pet now, switching insurance is no longer an option for me.
I strongly urge anyone considering PetPlus US to do thorough research and weigh your options carefully before committing. Your pet deserves better, and so do you.
Pets Plus Us - Terrible Customer Service and Coverage
I have had a few minor issues with Pets Plus Us in the past. The final straw was that my dog got a cracked tooth and while I had a good idea of when the accident occurred, I could not say definitively because I am not a vet. it was accidental because she does not receive hard chews.... There are very few ways that she could receive a cracked too. They refused to cover it because I did not see the incident occur. There has been ONE person I can remember in my 7 years with them, that was helpful and provided information I needed (even though the result was not what I wanted). DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. There are many others that can provide better coverage and customer service.
Pets Plus Us - Don't reimburse what covered in the policy
Customer service is really bad. They don't let you talk. All they say is no.
Food poisoning cause diarrhea, vomiting, blood in stool etc. they said those are illnesses. Not food poisoning.
Don't try to deny. Food poisoning is accident and it's covered under the policy. Give me my reimbursement.
Pets Plus Us - VERY BAD
