Pet Insurance - Ambiguous Expectations
I was surprised after the application process was completed to learn that I would need to obtain and submit 12 months of veterinary records for my pet to complete the underwriting process. While this is fine, this requirement should have been clearly communicated on the front end of the process. The perception is that the company wants to get potential customers started with a "simple" process only to disclose requirements once they have started the process. This does not leave a perception of 'honesty' with the customer and leaves one wondering what the experience might be if one engages with Nationwide for Pet Insurance.

Pet Insurance - Very upset client.
I have 2 dogs my old one is know 14 years old & my young one is 3 years old the old one has been with Nationwide since she was 3 years old recently I have received a letter indicating since they are changing their policy meaning cancelling X Ray, blood tests,EKG, nationwide has charged me fool price every single mounts for the major medical plan & wellness for 11 years & know that my girl is 14 years old they are changing policies.
Pet Insurance - Nationwide: NOT on our side
I used to joke all of the time that “Nationwide is on our side”. Well, things have changed. Significantly. My cat is 13 years old and we have never once used the insurance because I have the major medical. It does not cover wellness or anything like that and he has been healthy. The rates keep increasing by significant amounts that I can no longer afford it. I think I would be too depressed to do the math regarding how much money I have given nationwide in 13 years and not actually used any of the insurance. The payment went from $73 per month to $124 per month. And that is with a $250 deductible. Not including wellness or prevention. I am going to have to drop my cat’s policy which puts him at great risk for the future because I won’t be able to afford treatment for him. Does anyone understand how scary that is? 13 years. And this is what we get??? Definitely do not get this insurance. There has to be something better.
Pet Insurance - My policy lapsed because my policy was…
My policy lapsed because my policy was not on autopay. In fact, you cannot put an annual plan on auto-pay like all your other bills. So make sure to manually pay every year so that you don’t end up getting stuck with a bill that you thought would be covered. So lame.
Pet Insurance - Feeling very slighted by Nationwide
I have had Nationwide pet insurance for years for my animals. We were unaware of an expired credit card on three of our animals plans, and were not informed of this expiration. Nationwide claimed they sent us a letter in the mail, but didn't update our portal or send an email like every other communication - including the one for this review - was sent. We had a valid credit card on file for our 4th animal but our other 3 animals were dropped. We discovered this issue when our claims we denied despite the prior month (when we supposedly would not have been insured) being accepted. We are now not allowed to reinstate our insurance because during the time of coverage our dogs have gotten too old to have the insurance they now need. We are left stuck with over $4k in bills and more to come for two aging dogs. To say we are disappointed is an understatement.
