Pets Plus Us - Took forever to get my documents looked at and approved.
I had to send my invoices about 4 times before they were looked at and approved. I would get an email back, several days later saying "something was wrong with the invoices" and they couldn't fix it right now.
Pets Plus Us - Stay Away from Pets Plus Us Canada
I was a loyal customer for six years, keeping up with all premiums on time. My dog had no prior accidents or illnesses—until recently, when she began showing symptoms of a possible back injury. Despite that, Pets Plus Us denied coverage for all diagnostic tests, to exclude illness and now needs a MRI, simply because no vet report explicitly used the word “accident.” All attempts to determine what was wrong were rejected, even though vets clearly suspected a back trauma.
Pets Plus Us - don't do it!
I paid into this service for 4 years and never once had a successful claim- even with all the required documentation. Save your money!
Pets Plus Us - Absolute TRASH!
Will NEVER EVER EVER use Pets Plus Us Again... There are loopholes throughout the entire policy such as cremation... Regardless of the fact that is CLEARLY says we will pay the actual cost... they don't... only the maximum payable amount as shown, which turns out to only be $100 regardless of what plan your own. Then not to mention you'll still get charged for your pet's policy even after they've passed!
Pets Plus Us - They misguided me and avoid paying
My dog was involved in a major car accident, and 4 months after she jumped from the couch and hurt her ligament, but they declined my claim because they said this issue is a degenerative disease. I called them up, the advisor told me to file for a reassessment, I did it, and they said we need more documents to show it was from a major accident. I told them it's okay to provide after 180 days. She said yes since you opened up the reassessment in that window, and we need more documents. I gathered all the documents to provide them; it took me about 8 months. They said OOO, it's 180 days after, and we can't do a reassessment. BULLSHIITTT
Pets Plus Us - Pets Plus Us (Canada) Renewal
Anyone received their renewal, I have a 45% renewal on my policy, it’s ridiculous.
Pets Plus Us - Will pet insurance cover treatment if I’m the one to suggest it to the vet?
Hi guys. I have Pets Plus Us for my cats.
A little while ago my cats were exhibiting signs of asthma, the vet said that if it’s only infrequently then he doesn’t see the need for medication but that if I really wanted to he could give us a trial amount of prednisone to see how it works. I agreed, and when I submitted the documents the insurance wouldn’t cover it because the doctor wrote in the notes that I insisted on trying the meds not the doctor.
Anyways, rewind to now. My cat has a serious case of diarrhea. The vet suggested a PCR. However since he’s an indoor cat I highly doubt any parasite or virus will be the issue.
My friend who works at a different vet clinic recommended I get my vet to do an ultrasound. However, I’m very nervous to suggest this myself instead of my vet suggesting it because I’m worried my insurance will deny the claim if the vet writes in the notes that “owner requested an ultrasound be done” instead of the vet being the one to suggest it. Is this a real concern? If I want insurance to cover any treatment or diagnostics, should I avoid making and suggestions or requests to the vet so that any tests that are done are only at the suggestion of the vet? Money is a big concern right now since I lost my job so I don’t want to risk getting my claim denied.
Thank you in advance!
Pets Plus Us - Warning - Pets Plus Us
I would like to warn people before signing up with Pets Plus Us. They are “endorsed” by Costco and I thought that meant they must be decent.
I signed up with them in 2014 when my dog was 10 weeks old. My dog is now 10.5 years old and this is my experience:
Since 2021 they have approved $29 and $26 dollars of claims.
In November 2022 they approved their last reimbursement for $29.
They rejected a claim for an autoimmune disorder despite the fact a surgeon and specialist reached out on our behalf and provided published information proving that under PetsPlusUs guidelines it should have been covered…we paid $7500 out of pocket for that in 2022.
Despite not approving any claims since November 2022, when my dog turned 10 (June 2024) they DOUBLED his monthly rates. And claimed that had nothing to do with age.
Today I received an email advising that my dog’s plan is being “discontinued” so they I can pick a new plan to “better meet my needs” however, pre-existing conditions will not be covered.
I called to cancel our policy today. We were loyal clients for nearly 11 years and this is how they “value” us.
