Dutch Pet Insurance - In concept this service is great
In concept this service is great. However, lots of issues with getting the help needed. I signed up on Sat afternoon when I noticed my dog had blood in his urine. He’s had this before with frequent UTIs. We just needed an antibiotic without going to the emergency vet on the weekend. I signed up but the earliest appt was at 8 pm at night. Ugh. We had the appt and the vet was great! Antibiotic ordered. She suggested transferring to local pharmacy to get treatment started right away. I got treatment plan and transferred med to local pharmacy with a $5 transfer fee. This morning, I called pharmacy to confirm and no prescription. Treatment plan isn’t listed in my account though the $5 fee is there. You can’t reach a customer support person on the weekend so I can’t get the med!!! Now I am back to square one and have spent a considerable amount of time trying to sort this out. Very disappointing!
Dutch Pet Insurance - Inexpensive but not without flaws
The subscription is inexpensive and even with the medication cost, it is still cheaper than going to the vet. My biggest complaint is their customer service / refund policy. During the vet consultation, I asked if this is something that my cat needed to be treated immediately for and the vet said no, just make sure to pay for expedited shipping and I’d have the medication in a day or two. So, I paid an additional $15 for express shipping with it showing I’d have delivery by EOD on Tuesday (I placed the order Sunday morning). Upon tracking the shipment, UPS has it marked delayed and it’s in several states away from where I live. I reached out to Dutch’s customer service to see if the $15 shipping could be refunded, because it was not delivered as expected and most likely won’t be delivered until Thursday (if then). Their customer service responded they would not be refunding, the express window is 1-3 days and it is in transit. Again, UPS clearly shows that it is delayed in a different state, not “In Transit” - meaning it is not actively on its way to me. I don’t hold Dutch responsible for whatever is happening with UPS, but my expectation was for delivery of a medication today and now I don’t even have a delivery date. My cat is in a lot of discomfort and needs medication and I will have to take her to her regular vet to ensure she receives timely treatment. Overall, I canceled the subscription and will just pay for in person visits moving forward. I know that my vet cares about my pet’s wellbeing and that is worth more than a cheap subscription.
Dutch Pet Insurance - Don’t expect meds to arrive quickly without spending more on shipping than the meds themselves…..
Paid for an annual membership, and met with a vet via Zoom. Vet advised he would prescribe 2 medications for my very sick cat. He also stated that my cat could potentially be fine in one to two weeks, and that if not, I’d have to take him to an emergency vet.
Dutch Pet Insurance - Complete scam with zero customer support. I have wasted hours.
Buyer beware. Signed up for a 2 year plan because the site simultaneously advertised 34% off all plan types, and 40% off (up to $40) first medication order. The membership explicitly said "pay $5.36/mo for 24 months, billed at $128.70 today".
Dutch Pet Insurance - Worst Company Ever
One of the worst experiences ever. Signed up and did the vet no problem. Ordered the meds and they said it should ship in 1-2 business days. 4 business days later and it has yet to ship. Customer service is useless and aren't helpful. They never respond. Booked a phone call and they never even called me back. Def don't recommend. Literally one of the worst experiences and I'm still waiting on my meds that have yet to ship. Don't even know what I'm paying for at this point.
Dutch Pet Insurance - worst experience my husband I ever had…
worst experience my husband I ever had with trying to support our pet with an online service. We ordered revolution the first time and they stated it was at our home, but we never received it. So they had to refund our money and we had to get the revolution somewhere else. The second time we thought we give them another chance and the same thing ordered medication had it expedited and it still hadn’t come to our home. My husband and I went back-and-forth with Customer Service, which is a joke. We have to report them to the Better Business Bureau and we have to follow up to make sure we get our $86 back.
Dutch Pet Insurance - Inconvenient Customer Support and Poorly Designed Platform
I had been using this service for the past six weeks in order to save on the cost of vet fees and medications for two of my five dogs who have chronic heart and kidney disease. The vets have been great. Customer service reps have been pleasant. The platform algorithms for Customer service and ordering meds are a failure by design unless you order directly from them and do not mind receiving them in 4 -7 days. They also want you to set up auto delivery which may be convenient but could result in purchases you no longer need. Chewy has the same system but is much more user friendly. Also Chewy has great telephone Customer Service. For two consecutive weekends I have had problems. I attempted on Wednesday 11/27 to arrange for a virtual vet visit. First available appt was on Thursday at 2:50pm ET. Vet prescribed three Rx ‘s and recommended I start them ASAP. I immediately attempted to order them with expedited delivery as well as to transfer a Rx for reduced protein dry food to the Banfield vet near me. I called Banfield and got all the information needed for them to transfer the prescription and sent it to Dutch. The problem is that Dutch has minimal customer service available between Friday noon PT AND MONDAY NOON PT. I attempted to follow the directions on the website for expediting the delivery of the medication’s and transfer of the prescription to Banfield. I read their Help menus and tried to follow their directions without success. The platform does not distinguish clearly the difference between vet prescribed orders, available orders, auto ship and your order cart . Faulty algorithms make the app very user unfriendly and difficult to navigate. Consequently, I eventually was told I would not receive the medication‘s or the transfer of the prescription for food until Monday, four days after my visit with the Vet.
Dutch Pet Insurance - Charged for unauthorized order
The veterinarian I accessed through Dutch.com was wonderful but the Rx management, ordering technology and customer service were incompetent bordering on fraudulent. After three messages to customer service to enable a prescribed refill, they went ahead and set up a recurring subscription without my permission, charged me an outrageous price, and shipped the supposed “order” without my authorization.
Dutch Pet Insurance - SCAM site
I placed an order 5 days ago and it has not been shipped yet. Not even an e-mail. My cat is sick and no medicine.
Dutch Pet Insurance - If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. Scheduled my entire day around the vet appointment. Vet never showed up on the zoom. Wasted a bunch of my time and wasn't able to get what I needed for my dog. I texted their care number, emailed, and tried a customer service chat. No reply from anyone on any of those.
