Nationwide - Website has been inaccessible for months
Insurance is great as far as covering claims, but gets very expensive for old purebred dogs. Their website is now useless. I've been kicked out of it for two months because of some widespread problem they apparently had, and now nobody can fix the issue and get me access. I've called six times - always told it will be fix but it never is. They do give you a way to submit a claim without the site, but I can't see status of past claims and when I call about an unpaid claim, sometimes they say there's no record of the claim. They also told me they would send me a list of claims with status, but never did. I would have kept that information separately on my own, but I've always relied on their site to look things up. Now you can't do that.
For a company the size of Nationwide, you'd think they could fix a data issues with their site, but they can't. Be cautious - maybe look for better options.
Nationwide - Worst animal vet ever DO NOT GO HERE
IF I COULD GIVE THIS NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD... THATS HOW BAD IT IS.... PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE.. DESPITE THE FAKE 4.7 REVIEWS THEY ARE REALLY ONE OF THE WORST ANIMAL HOSPITALS IN THE CITY. THEY KILLED MY Dog . AND I HEARD OF WAY MORE ANIMALS WHOS HEALTH ISSUES WERE NEGLECTED AND THE ANIMAL PAST AWAY... ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY AND THEY ARE NOT VERY EDUCATED ON THE MEDICATIONS THEY GIVE.... IF YOU WANT TO BURY YOUR PET GO HERE, IF YOU WANT IT TO LIVE GO ELSEWHERE I SUGGEST KAHU ANIMAL HOSPITAL WHERE THEY ACTUALLY CARE BUT THERE ARE WAY MORE BETTER ALTERNATIVES THEN THIS PLACE.. THIS PLACE THE STAFF IS RUDE AND THEY OVERCHARGE EVEN FOR VIST..
KAHU WORKS WITH YOU...SO DO MANY OTHERS... BE SMART , DONT GO TO THIS ONE !!! THEY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND SHUT DOWN.... ANIMAL KILLERS!!!!
Nationwide - Pre-Existing Conditions
I thought I read when I was first signing up for my policy that "pre-existing conditions" did not matter. I took all the time to sign up for insurance, paid the premiums, only to discover that pre-existing conditions is excluded from my coverage. I will be cancelling my coverage as the main reason to purchase insurance for my dog was to help cover VERY expensive costs for testing for something that we don't know what it is.
Nationwide - Nationwide denies claims right & left
Nationwide denies claims right & left. They tell you that you have comprehensive coverage but they deny claims but stating they're not covered. i can't seem to find what they do cover. They just amended their policies to give you even less coverage.
My dog had a double ear infection which they denied with nothing other than "we don't cover that".
Find a different insurance company if you have any hope of getting some reimbursement for your pet's illness.
Nationwide - I had major medical for 7 1/2 years
I had major medical for 7 1/2 years, never needed to use it. Nationwide cancelled my insurance in 2 months after he turned 8.
Can’t trust Nationwide, they took my money, increased premium each year and just cancelled the insurance I never even used.
Nationwide - Nationwide. How screwed am I? Planning for the future.
Noticed that my company offered Nationwide pet insurance. Have a 9-year-old large mixed breed dog, 14-year-old Turkish Angola cat, and two one year old Persian cats. Went ahead and applied and all 4 were approved with $100.00 deductible and 80% reimbursement, and $5,000.00 limit for accident, illness and congenital & hereditary. Right now it's a year long policy. I have since been reading up on some horror stories dealing with Nationwide. I wished I had researched more thoroughly beforehand. I just wanted peace of mind. Now I'm not so sure. It is what it is. How do I deal with this in the meantime and what company should I be looking out for next year?
Nationwide - Nationwide
Well, I guess im late to finding out my coverage dropped from 90% to 50% i had been doing claims due to my dog having multiple TPLO surgeries and find out ny nost recent one only got covered 50%. Pretty annoyed.
My dog is 8 and already is through most of the surgeries but does have a neurological issue.
Im looking to get a new policy somewhere and would love recommendations.
Nationwide - Why I didn’t go with Nationwide for my new puppy
I had a great experience with Nationwide for my previous dog, who had epilepsy and developed a lot of complications. We hit our plan’s annual limit halfway through the year, every year — and they paid out thousands without much hassle. Genuinely smooth process.
So naturally, when I got my new puppy (Alfie), I went back to get a quote. But they quoted me over $200/month. I’m guessing it’s because of my history of high claims, even though this is a totally new dog and policy.
I ended up going with Lemonade (for wellness/preventative) and Trupanion (for emergencies/accidents), and I’m paying less than $100 total per month.
Just wanted to share in case others are running into similar pricing surprises with Nationwide. Happy to answer questions about my setup!
Nationwide - Any pet insurance or wellness plans still cover full dental cleanings?
Looking for updated info — my pet’s annual dental cleaning usually runs **$900–$1,200** (under anesthesia, with X-rays). **Nationwide’s wellness plan used to reimburse for it**, but I just found out that plan is **being discontinued** or no longer offers the same benefit.
Most "wellness add-ons" I’ve looked at (like Figo, Spot, etc.) only reimburse **$75 or less** for dental cleanings, which barely makes a dent in the total cost.
Has anyone found **a provider that actually covers full dental cleanings** under wellness or medical plans? Either as part of a **preventive package** or through **major dental** coverage?
Nationwide - Insurance just jumped from 500/year to 950/year for my 5 year old goldendoodle. Is it worth it?
Trying to figure out how much longer I should justify purchasing insurance for my goldendoodle. He is very healthy, not overweight. But I do have some pricey allergy treatments for him a couple times a year, but doubling his insurance is crazy! Any recommendations? \*\*Nationwide pet insurance\*\*
