Embrace - Find another insurer
Again - I give them 1 star only because I cannot give negative. They will respond here saying how sorry they are for me for my loss and how they care. THEY DON'T! Embrace denied euthanize claim based on my 15 year dog had a growth/wart and also had a tumor. They really claimed that a skin wart is a pre-existing condition for an internal tumor. I kid you not. They will take your monthly premiums and NOT pay any claims. My dog went fast - within 3 weeks from getting sick to passing. 3 Claims - all denied for "Pre-existing" issues. They will stretch and patch whatever they want and deny any claim for any reason. No they don't care about you like they will respond they do. Stay away from Embrace.. Trust me.. they care about money and not your pet or you.
WARNING - EMBRACE denies claims if your dog's nose is "wet". Yes you are reading this correctly. Had to put my dog down of 15 years and EMBRACE denies the claim because my dog had "a cold and wet nose". Now - all dogs have cold and wet noses and 2 months prior to his passing the vet noted it and that it was a good thing. YET - Embrace denies the claim with a stretch link that a wet nose is a pre-existing condition causing the demise of any dog. I KID YOU NOT! DO NOT USE EMBRACE - EVER!!!!!
Embrace - Claim submission form and reimbursement process slow
When submitting a claim, the select provider box is unacceptably slow to respond
Embrace - This insurance is a joke
This insurance is a joke and has never been worth the money. I've paid this sleezy company SO much more than I've ever received, and I definitely would have been MUCH better off just putting money in a HYSA or a market ETF for my pets. Embrace will jack up their prices so much every year that at this point I would have been paying almost $400/mo for four mostly healthy cats, only one of which is elderly (and I still almost never used this insurance for him). That was with an annual coverage limit and a $1000 deductible (per cat). I had to remove my oldest cat due to cost and it was still $250/mo. What a scam! I had felt trapped because one of my other cats was 12 and until recently most insurance companies wouldn't cover cats age 12+. But now Spot does! I went with them and I'm paying more than $100/mo less than I was with Embrace. This insurance is just for emergencies (no insurance company is worth it for anything routine or even for covering most conditions), and I hope that in a year or so I'll have enough saved to cancel it entirely.
Embrace - Honestly this insurance sucks
Honestly this insurance sucks. I feel like none of you guys actually pay attention or care.
Embrace - All pain, no gain
The coverage is expensive, but I don't get much out of it. Last year, it would have been cheaper to just pay my (expensive, excellent vet) and skip the insurance. In part, because Embrace avoids paying out anything, it hassles both the paying customer and the veterinarians office, and I ended up paying for both the insurance AND the vet bills.
I've never seen anything except "longer than average wait times" for customer service. It's like they think a US-based service won't have more customers try to call during the day, during their operating hours, and average the wait times for all 24 hours.
For example, for each claim they expect the veterinarian to send the complete medical records of the dog. If you RECENTLY adopt a PUPPY and there isn't enough of a medical record, they'll call the medical record a summary and put the claim on hold indefinitely. It's a two month old puppy in for his second vet visit, this time because he's sick. How long do they think the record will be?
I have never received a check from Embrace, though they claim they sent one for other services. A check that was $250 on an over $1700 claim, I might add.
If you like paying double for the same amount of healthcare for your pet, this is the insurance for you. It's like paying someone so that you can do extra paperwork without any benefit.
Oh, and it auto-renews and does not allow you to opt out of auto-renew. With most services, I like auto-renew, but I want to drop this "service" so much.
My veterinary clinic works with other insurance firms the way human hospitals work with insurance firms. This is not the case with Embrace. I'm not saying that this is because Embrace is difficult to work with and doesn't pay out. I'm just saying that I've found Embrace difficult to work with, and it doesn't pay out and wouldn't be surprised if vet offices don't want to work with them because of this.
The second star is only because they have a nice-looking website. I'm definitely getting scammed by Embrace and will drop them as soon as I figure out how. A feat that is proving to be challenging.
Embrace - Difficult for older folks to…
Difficult for older folks to use…especially under stressful circumstances…..loss of pet.
Embrace - Always a pre-existing not covered condition.
My dog was adopted when she was 2 months and is a stray dog. She has all his vaccinations and at every visit to the vet for vaccinations there is a report saying that the dog was in good health, since this is a condition for the dog to be vaccinated. She has never been sick and we have never had to take her to the vet. She started limping because of a bacterial infection that was misdiagnosed as an orthopedic problem and then referred to another clinic that made the correct diagnosis. Embrace used the first misdiagnosis to claim pre-existence in a puppy, and it took more than a month to return with the denial of the claim.
Embrace - Questioning change
I just switched to Embrace after using another company and I am beginning to question my change. I submitted a claim and it was declined and when I reached out 3 times for details no one ever reached back out to me! I am starting to wish I stayed with the other company. DO BETTER EMBRACE!!
Embrace - Our Labradoodle is 7 and we have had…
Our Labradoodle is 7 and we have had Embrace insurance for 5+ consecutive years. During the 2nd half of 2024 Embrace raised our premium from $123.81 to $173.19 (40%). Our coverage is annual benefits of $10,000, a $500 deductible and 80% reimbursement rate. Were we enroll our dog today with Embrace, our premium for the same coverage would be $119.98. The way companies such as Embrace keep you hooked/locked in is through a pre-existing conditions clause......since we filed claims during the past 5+ years for giardia and anaplasmosis, these are considered pre-existing conditions should we choose to get coverage elsewhere.....so we remain captives of Embrace. Even so, a 40% rate increase is excessive in my book, especially when there is no apparent attempt by Embrace to justify it. Certainly our per's claim experience doesn't.
Embrace - I submitted a claim when my dog Biscuit experienced a brain swell.
I submitted a claim when my dog Biscuit had a brain swell. Woever rejected my claim shortly after it arrived apparently did not even read what was sent. Biscuit couldn't stand and his head kept turning to the left. I immediately took him to a hospital that I knew had a neurologist.
Because I only purchased the policy a little over a month before this happened it was rejected because of orthopedic reasons (that being he couldn't stand).
Also, the person took it upon him or herself to diagnose my dog with anorexia. Nowhere in the chart does it say he is anorexic, just that he isn't a big eater. He's a five pound Pomeranian and is incredibly fussy, as most little dogs seem to be.
However, when I called to speak to someone I was told the second adjuster had just left for the day. I left my name and number and thought I would have to call back. To be honest, at this point I never expected a call back due to my experience so far.
To my surprise Rebecca called me back and told me my claim was approved. Apparently someone who cared enough to actually read the chart realized it was meningitis. Rebecca could not have been any more professional, going as far was apologizing for any upset I experienced.
I rated this only two stars due to how this claim was initially handled.
I'm more than happy with the outcome.
Sincerely,
Patti Ahearn
