['Geico', 'Chase'] - Cracked windshield on rental car
I'm insured with Geico in Texas, with a $1,000 deductible for both collision and comprehensive coverage, and I’m also enrolled in their rental reimbursement program. My car needed repairs, so I took it to the body shop and used Geico’s rental service to get a car from Enterprise. I paid about $50 in taxes and fees with my United MileagePlus Explorer card — Geico covered the rest of the rental.
While I was driving the rental, the windshield cracked. Enterprise later sent me a bill for $415. I contacted Geico, but they said they won’t cover it because the damage is below my $1,000 deductible. I also reached out to Chase (the MileagePlus Explorer card issuer), but they said the rental insurance benefit doesn’t apply because I didn’t pay for the entire rental with the card — Geico paid most of it — so they won’t cover it either.
So now I’m stuck with the $415 bill. Is there anything I can do here? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?
Chase - Random driver backed into my rental car
This happened in Texas, USA fwiw. Thanks for any opinions or advice.
I did not purchase the rental company's insurance but did pay for the rental with my Chase Sapphire, which has good collision coverage.
Dent in bumper not too major. The other driver clearly was at fault and in fact didn't even collect my info since we both knew it was her fault. I got all her info and now my rental company is *trying to get my insurance info*. I refused to give them my insurance info on the accident form when I returned the vehicle since I wasn't liable. Also I only have liability.
The rental company, in their initial email after the accident did not mention whether they tried to contact the other person.
What's my play? Should I contact Chase first and get a person for the rental company to contact or what should I do?
Chase - Help! Accidentally Paid Interest Free Card off.
I have an interest-free card that I used for some remodeling on a property. It is interest-free for 18 months, so I charged all materials and labor to it.
The first payment was due yesterday, and I set up autopay from the property's bank account. The autopay only had one option: "amount due." I naively thought that meant the minimum amount due, not the entire credit card bill.
Well, yesterday, the creditor withdrew the entire amount from the bank account. The funds were there, so it was not returned.
I called Chase (the card issuer) last night when I saw the transaction pending, and they said they couldn't help me since it was on autopay. I called my bank this morning, and they said they can't help me either since it is an ACH. They mentioned that I could possibly dispute it, but that process would take almost two months.
Is there really no way to reverse that charge and pay them the minimum amount due instead? I got the card specifically to avoid impacting the cash flow and had a plan to pay it off while it was still interest-free. I genuinely did not know the amount Chase was going to deduct, it did not tell me when I set up Auto-Pay or anything.
Am I just not talking to the right people, or is there really no way to assist me?
*********
Update: Called Chase again and a manager helped me. She said since I didn’t have a minimum payment due, the option wasn’t there to pay minimum and that’s why I only had the “pay amount due” option.
They are refunding me! And I don’t owe anything till August.
Chase - Am I Eligible for Chase $900 Bonus?
I originally signed up for the Chase $900 bonus approximately 18 months ago, but didn't end up depositing any money into either the checking or savings accounts (ended up not having enough liquidity at the time due to unexpected events).
They ended up closing both accounts after 30 days with a $0 balance on both. I confirmed this with a Chase representative on the phone. However, he claimed I was not eligible even though I would appear to technically meet the eligibility criteria (account not closed in the last 90 days; no accounts closed with negative balance in the last 3 years; only allowed to receive one new checking and one new savings account opening bonus every two years from the last coupon enrollment date and only one bonus per account). He claimed that I had closed my account too recently, even though the plain text of the offer would seem to suggest otherwise.
Has anyone had any experience with a situation like this?
Is there something else I'm missing here as to why I might not be eligible?
Will Chase let me know whether I am eligible or not when I open the accounts? Or do I only find out when I end up receiving (or not receiving) the bonuses?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
