Pets Best - Pets best. I am very angry
So this may slightly be my fault but I need to vent and need options. I have had pets best for 2 years. My golden retriever blew her ACL and I took her to a surgeon and they confirmed it. The entire process took 5 months. I called pets best to see how to proceed, they said to pay the bill and then send everything to them. So I did.
They just came back and said that they will not reimburse me because I don’t wait 6 months to have the surgery. WTF!!! and why would you not tell me when I called to ask how to proceed?!?
Am I just out of luck? Or do you think that this is worth fighting? I am out $7k now. This is why I had pet insurance in the first place!!!
Nationwide - Anyone have nationwide and get their dog tested for allergies
I’ve tried meds and special bland food and the dog is still scratching excessively. I got a quote for testing at like $1500 plus a $300 consultation fee. Was wondering if anyone knows if this is covered. When I called nationwide they were very vague, saying it depends and they can’t guarantee if it’s covered. Smh
Acura - AUTO CLAIM HELP!!
Hello!
I was rear ended, and the other party was liable. I submitted my vehicle for repairs at the shop of my choice. The car has been in the shop for way longer than the estimate stated due to shortage of parts. (Estimate was approved for 20 days, and its been almost 5 months lol) Adjuster stated they wont be covering the rental because it was excessive. I know that some shops are not truthful, but I confirmed with Acura. The parts were genuinely on back order the entire time. I told the adjuster that its not my fault that Acura is backed up, and that I wouldnt be in this predicament if their insured hadnt hit my car. He insisted that they wouldnt reimburse me for the rental.
Side note: Originally the adjuster estimated approx $9K in damages, and the shop was in the ball park of $21K in damages. When the supplement was issued, the allotted time to repair still stayed at 20 days, is that normal? My thought process is that if there was more damage, then it would take longer to repair lol.
What do I do? If I seek legal assistance are the odds in my favor? Im in Illinois if that helps.PLEASE HELP
Trupanion - Am I getting fleeced? (Trupanion)
When we adopted our dog (now 6 years old and 44 lbs, a mix of at least 5 different breeds) we took out what I considered to be a “catastrophic plan” to insure her and help us avoid difficult healthcare financial decisions when she grows old, or sooner (though hopefully not). The policy has a $1,000 lifetime deductible per injury/illness and no maximum benefit. When we took out the policy it was $25.03/month. It is now up to $57.15/month.
A 128% increase over 6 years feels pretty steep, especially when she’s statistically speaking less than 1/2 of her way through her expected lifespan.
Should I be regularly shopping around the same way one does with auto or homeowners insurance, or are the chances that I will find a better value now that she’s 6 low? I remember reading when I took out the policy that with pet insurance it’s better to insure early when the dog’s health risk is very low to “lock in” a low rate and picked Trupanion because at the time they advertised modest premium increases being a feature that differentiated them among their competitors. I don’t feel like 128% over 6 years is modest, and if the increases continue to increase at the accelerated rate they have been doing so, I feel like it may be worth surveying the field to see what else is out there.
I like her coverage and feel that it works for our financial situation. (We are fortunate that we can afford regular wellness visits and any unexpected medical items < $1,000).
TIA!
State Farm - State farm homeowners insurance deductible
We recently had to file our first homeowners insurance claim in the 6 years we’ve owned our house. We had a huge storm with 75+ mph winds and torrential rains, tornadoes etc.
We randomly had the wood paneling in our living room (interior wall, other side is a bedroom) sustain water damage. It was wet and mushy and all warped. We want it fixed because we don’t want mold growing etc. roof is 4 years old so we aren’t sure how water got in. We also need a professional to figure out how this happened.
Anyway, State Farm says it’s covered under our policy.
We have a $3,000 deductible.
They said they deduct the deductible from the money they send us for the repairs. We don’t pay it up front.
(We are waiting for a callback from the contractor they helped us find).
To me that sounds like if it’s going to cost $6,000 to fix they take off $3k and we only get $3k.
My husband thinks we get the full amount for the repairs which makes no sense to me. State farm has to pay themselves the deductible.
We had a total loss on a car last year and they took the deductible out of that and we got less money back for our payment. So that’s why I think we aren’t going to get the full amount (which is not going to be helpful we don’t have a ton of money right now).
So anyone know who’s right?
Kaiser - My insurance agent didn't enroll me so I missed Covered Ca deadline
So I went to an insurance agent to enroll with kaiser through covered ca at the end of January because it wouldn't let me online and I was told I'd get my insurance card and stuff sent to me in a week or two well flash forward to today and I called kaiser to try and order an insurance card and they have no record of me at all. Called covered ca and same thing so I guess when I went to enroll through him it didn't work idk if he did something wrong or if it was a system error or something idk. This is my first time applying for insurance since I just got off my parents insurance and I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm not sure how to apply without covered ca and how much more it would be. Any suggestions I called the guy and left a message and haven't heard back yet.
Intact - Ontario Personal Car Insurance Help
Hey guys, im a 24 year old male living in Ontario and just got hit with a complete blindside. I’ve been insured on multiple vehichles through different companies since 2018, no tickets, pullovers or anything. I just bought a new truck and found out when getting quotes that I have 2 at fault accidents on my record. The first was July of 2021, my 67 mustang hit a pothole and caused some minor damage to the fender. I called intact and asked some questions and they said the only way I would get any money towards repairs is if I put it through as an at fault-after hearing this I said no thanks and paid it myself. They never said anything about this going on my record, the whole point of me paying out of pocket was to avoid this. The second was on my truck in Feb 2024. I was in Colorado and my brother needed to move my truck out of the driveway, it was late at night and a neighbour was parked somewhere it was hard to see and he bumped into it. My truck was fine and I was away so I didn’t deal with any of it directly but my brother used his personal insurance to pay out the damages but this is on my record as at fault for me. Is there anything I can do to get this off the record? I’ve talked to so many insurance agents who just shrug and say they won’t insure me and that the circumstances don’t matter. I’ve had insurance since I was 17, paid over $25,000 since then and cost insurance companies $0 and they won’t insure me.
Allstate - All State
So I have auto insurance with All State here in Canada and I was provided a questionnaire for my renewal term which I filled out. All state says to fill it out otherwise there’s penalties and whatnot so I fill it out. They increased the premium on my last monthly payment before renewal and aren’t budging because we sent the questionnaire that they asked for before we paid the last payment so now they’re counting it as a policy change which is stupid. I work as an actuary in auto insurance and I’ve never dealt with this sort of stuff. What should I do?

At this time the preliminary findings for the cause of loss is not a covered peril. I will further investigate claim and follow up w/ you regarding the status.
I also left a voice message on your voice mail.
I read all of this - The Owner of the property that I am renting from said that the Plumbers Official Report was that the water was sewage water and it came from the toilets. For context the water rushing into my place was what woke me up and I woke up in a panic to put all belongings on spaces that are high enough for them not to be damaged.
The unit has been deemed uninhabitable by the Owners insurance and I do not have a home at the moment. AS of today my hotel stay has ended and I am down about 2k for trying to staying here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to be homeless in less than 24 hours.
State Farm - Nonrenewal car policy
State farm sent me a letter saying they weren’t going to renew my policy due to my dad’s driving record, mentioned said claims and one accident that he was in and that I had to switch by April. My parents and I have different agents and I have my own policy but I think our policies are tied together somehow? Anyway, I asked my mom if they had finally switched and she said no, that their agent didn’t see such claims on their end and were able to remain with State Farm. My parents never used the roadside assistance that State Farm claimed in the nonrenewal letter so what the hell.Has anyone been in a similar situation? I’ve already switched insurance but I’m curious to talk to my agent to know why there’s inconsistency.
