Freedom Life Insurance - Freedom Life Insurance is costing me way too much, what to switch to?
I purchased private health insurance through an agent with Freedom Life Insurance. I'm starting my own business so have to handle my own insurance. I got a Freedom plan that is supposed to give me 4 free doctors visits before deductibles/copays kick in, and somehow I'm paying more than my insurance every time. They only pay $100 per visit. I am livid that I'm spending almost $400/month for a policy that doesn't seem to pay anything!! What is the deal with this?? They only pay $100, the rest is on me. This is directly different than what I was told it would be, and there's no way for me to know what I'm going to be paying unless I get a full bill breakdown from each doctor beforehand which I have never in my life had to do. The plan is a United plan, yet my agent said these major doctors don't have a good contracted rate with United. HOW? United is universally accepted. Should I have my agent find me a different plan? Go back to Marketplace where they switch your plan every year? Where the heck does a person go to get health insurance that isn't rocket science, actually covers what it says it will cover, and doesn't change all the time? Does the plan I'm on even sound normal?
Pets Best - Pets Best
Now paying $500.94 every 6 months for our 5 year old goldendoodle. We have minimal claims in the past year. Went up significantly this year. Does this sound right around everyone else? We feel like this is a lot to pay but nervous to go down on our coverage in case of an emergency.
US Health Group - health insurance agent did my application wrong, what do I do?
I’m a 19F college student in Maryland and need a PPO plan because my school is in DC. I aged out of Medicaid, and since Maryland’s enrollment period is closed, I can’t reapply until November-January.
I contacted a health insurance agent, but they mistakenly listed me as male on the application. When US Health Group called to verify my info, they corrected the error, and my quote jumped from 140 to 160/month. I am a broke college student with no job.
The agent is trying to "fix" it and get us back to the original quote, but I’m worried this mistake of his will bite me in the ass when I'm older as he is now playing with the deductible in case of a life threatening emergency (before it was 8k I'd have to pay out of pocket and now its +20k).
I don't know what to do as I've never had to deal with insurance! Should I switch agents, as the gender was a mistake? Please help!
Blue Cross - Marketplace dental coverage that doesn’t really exist
Location, North Carolina
Our family has a marketplace health plan with Blue Cross. It includes free dental for children under 18. I bought a marketplace dental insurance for my husband and I but didn’t include the kids because they had the free dental on the health plan.
I have been trying to make dental appointments for the kids, and of course, there is a very limited number of dentists on the list that are in network. I have called a couple to make appointments and I keep getting told the same story. Blue Cross completely ghosts the dental office when they try to submit claims so the dentists won’t bother billing them anymore.
If I had known this, I would have just added the kids to the dental policy I purchased for my husband and myself. Of course open enrollment is over so it’s too late now and they haven’t really had a change in circumstance except that their coverage only exists on paper and is impossible to use. Now my only option is to pay out-of-pocket for their dental care.
Anyone else experienced this? What are my options?
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois - Why am I paying so much?
My husband and I signed up for BCBS of Illinois PPO+ plan through his work this year. I started seeing a physiatrist who was in network. When my claim was submitted, they only approved a discount from $360 to $219 leaving me having to pay $219 out of pocket. I previously had United Healthcare from my last company and with that insurance my physiatry appointments were only $30. I have read through our policy agreement but have to admit, I have no idea what I am reading. Can someone help explain what is different between my currently BCBS plan that only approves a discount vs other plans who only make you pay the co-pay? Thank you!
Geico - Got into an Accident and police say we were both guilty will this damage my credit score ?
I was At a stop and some lady came up speeding to turn on where I was. When the police came she told them that she didnt see me and that a i blew the horn but she was too late. She hit my car and i had to pay 2,000 dóllar to fix my car. The police say we were both At fault but i told him i never move from the stop and that i was going to make a right turn when I saw her but i never was able to move. He made us both guilty. A few month later i revive a letter from geico saying i own them like 10,000. Will this kill my credit score? I dont have that money to pay. I have check my credit and i see nothing but am afraid they will put on my credit soon or later. Its being months already. It was back in january.
Aetna - Question for those getting insurance through Marketplace
I live in Texas and have seen the reports about BCBS. I have Aetna insurance, purchased through Marketplace, and today I found out that my primary care provider, physical therapy, and pain management specialist are no longer in-network although they were a week ago. My PCP did not even know that the contract with Aetna was no longer valid - she found out while trying to set up a referral for me. Is this a fluke or is something bigger going on with Marketplace insurance?
Geico - Cat stolen twice in two months. Should I file another claim?
Proud owner of a 2013 prius for about a year now. During memorial day weekend, my catalytic concerter was stolen while i was parked in Brooklyn. Got a police report, filed a claim with geico, and got it fixed after a couple weeks ($500 out of pocket cost for deductible)
This morning when parked in a pretty good neighborhood on Long Island, turned on the car and heard the hellcat noise. Made my stomach sink, worst feeling ever.
I'm now contemplating what to do. I'm sure in NYS, any decent fix would run me at least $1,500, likely much more. The last fix receipt showed $3,200 just for parts. But I'm afraid to file a big claim twice in such a short time span. Will my insurance consider non renewal or flag me as a risky driver? I'm pretty new to having my own auto insurance, any help or suggestions are welcome. Can't really afford anything beyond $500 right now😓
The way people go around doing this type of stuff is sickening. Makes me so upset lol
Aetna - Same provider, same service (acupuncture). Why did Aetna deny coverage for one visit out of six?
I have Aetna with acupuncture coverage. I had seen a provider 6 times, 3 times in 2023 and 3 times in 2024. All of the visits were coded CPT Code 97811 and CPT Code 97810. In 2024, I saw the provider in January, June, and July. For some reason, the visit in June was denied and Aetna said it was experimental. But the provider billed using the exact same code as before and after June 2024. All other claims had been paid.
I'm at a stage of appealing this decision. But I'm wondering if anyone has any insights into why a claim would randomly be deemed experimental when it was paid as normal otherwise?
State Farm - Best discounts for medical professions?
Hey guys, State Farm is trying to increase my rates by another $300 per 6 months. Told them I’ll be taking my 19 years of customer service with me. Which insurance has discounts for being a nurse?
