Ed Jones - Ed Jones CFP's response to my question
Not sure if this is allowed, but here goes:
My employer retirement $ is with Empower, and 100% of it in a **T Rowe Price 2025** fund. I'll only be working for them for 5 years tops, and this $ will not be a big factor in retirement. This TRP 2025 has done great, barely lost anything at all. *Most* of our $ is with Ed Jones, and one of the funds they have me in is **TRP Large Cap Growth** fund. This fund is not doing as well as the 2025. It may be important to know that I am not contributing anything new to Ed Jones, this $ is growing / declining as funds do. They have me in a ratio of growth / stability appropriate for my age (62, want to retire at 65).
I asked the Ed Jones, guy, "The TRP 2025 is doing great, the Large Cap Growth is not doing as well, is there a compelling reason to NOT to move from the Large Cap and into the 2025?"
Ed Jones guy answers with "The market goes up and down, don't watch the news so much, we're re-investing dividends and buying low. Dips happen and then we recover..." or words to that effect.
***It's like he didn't answer my question, I know the market goes up / down, I'm not saying "sell everything" in a panic. SO, is he just dodging my question for some reason? Are there valid reasons to NOT switch from one TRP fund to another?***
Pets Best Insurance - Help with canceling Pets Best Insurance
Hello people, I am a bit of a pickle right now :(
I have been trying to cancel my Pets Best subscription/insurance for a good few days with no luck, the main reason why is because their prices have got up by a lot, and it simply isn’t in my budget atm, plus (knock on wood), my two cats are perfectly healthy besides the usual meowing because they aren’t allowed to eat every 5 mins.
I have called them so many times but I have been put on hold for 25-30 mins. It is really frustrating because I am worried they will charge me despite low funds in my account, making my account go into the negatives. And of course, me not wanting to pay 59 bucks a month when it was originally 47 bucks a month when I first joined almost 2 years ago. If anyone has any advice, please share.
Primerica - So, how do we feel about Primerica these days?
I’m looking for employment in the financial sector and I got on a zoom call with a financial services company, companies name is Axium. They’re an independent broker using Primerica as their custodian.
He kind of explained they’re like a marketplace for financial products now . 401(k)s, annuities, mutual funds, even rocket mortgage. As well as life insurance.
But I have concerns because I’m a child of the 90s and I remember Primerica having a bad rap.
Seems like they don’t have the same practices they used to. But I’m wondering if it’s worth it to take this employment, and if I’m just making something out of nothing.
Does anyone have firsthand experience with Primerica as a client or employee?
Cigna - Therapist stopped accepting EAP and did not tell me
In early 2024 I made an appointment to start seeing a therapist, specifically one that my insurance (Cigna) listed as one accepting EAP.
I called the office and confirmed with them they do accept EAP, so I scheduled an appointment.
My six EAP covered sessions ran out around September 2024, so I called my insurance, got a new code for six more covered sessions, sent it to the office by both text and email (and also over the phone to confirm it was correct).
Come March 2025, I’m on my last of the second round of therapy sessions covered by EAP. I check in at the office for my sessions, and they tell me an owe around $300 for my last several sessions. Confused, I tell them that EAP covers my sessions aside from an establishing bill of like $69 once a year. The office tells me they do not accept EAP and that I’m overdue on my bill.
I have never been told, in all the times I physically check in for my appointments (I never do virtual) that I owed anything. This is the first I’m hearing about it, or that they do not accept EAP because I confirmed when I made the very first appointment that they did accept them. Hell, I had called to give codes for each batch of six sessions.
Now, if they had told me this sooner, I would’ve stopped going to find someone else. Not a big deal, it’s their business and they are allowed to handle it however they want. But it feels really shady to suddenly spring a mystery bill on me and say I’m overdue for the last six sessions. They had six months to tell me when I came in or email me or call me.
I showed them all the proof of me contacting them (I always leave paper trails) about the EAP codes and confirmations it was accepted.
The legal advice I’m seeking is, is it legal for a provider to do that, suddenly stop taking EAP and secretly bill you without informing the patient? I’m assuming they will drop my bill once they review my evidence, but if not, can I legally ignore that bill (if it even comes my way at all)?
State Farm - State Farm payment cancelled by provider
Navy federal stated the card info was put in inaccurately but I confirmed it 3 times.
Anyone ever been through this ?
Do I really have to wait for a check in the mail now or can I just retry it after they open tomorrow?

Which must be taken within 72 hours of a potential exposure. i payed my $10 copay and They prescribed me the medicine where I was able to get my medication at the pharmacy that was covered by Aetna. But when I checked they fully denied my visit when I called she said the visit was not urgent. i told her I want to do an appeal. But im

Geico - Geico increased our rate by $300 after updating odometer and said California law prevents correcting it?
We recently got hit with a $300 rate increase on our 6-month Geico auto policy just because we updated our odometer. Here’s the timeline:
- We bought a used 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV in August 2024. At the time, the odometer read ~30,500 miles.
- In January 2025, we started a new auto policy with Geico.
- Now, in June 2025, we updated the odometer to 36,500 miles through their system.
- After this update, Geico increased our premium significantly.
I called a Geico agent, who told me the system assumes 36.5k miles over the entire life of the car, starting from the car’s model year (Chevy Bolt EUV 2022). Since it’s about 3.5 years old, Geico calculates our annual mileage as ~10,400 miles/year, even though we’ve only driven about 6,000 miles in the 10 months we've owned it.
She also said that California law prohibits them from adjusting the previous odometer data, even if we can prove when we bought the car and how much we’ve actually driven. That part sounded the most questionable to me, but I’m not sure, which is why I’m here for some advice.
I’m not trying to cheat the system, we just want our actual usage reflected accurately. I can provide documentation of the purchase date and odometer at the time (from the bill of sale or DMV forms), but I’m not even sure that can help since the Geico agent said there’s nothing they can do to adjust the previous odometer.
My questions:
1. Is it true that California law doesn’t allow insurers to adjust for actual usage if it wasn’t reported at the start?
2. Has anyone successfully appealed something like this with Geico?
3. Should I just start shopping around now for another insurer that works better for low-mileage drivers?
Appreciate any insight or advice. This feels really unfair and arbitrary, especially since we were trying to be honest and accurate with our info.
Citizens - When does Citizens cover water damage under HO3 policy?
Hi. I have an HO3 policy with Citizens in Florida and I’m trying to understand in what situations they would actually cover water damage since the reps, my insurance agent or adjuster are not able to clarify this. I have a water damage under my flooring, but again neither the field adjuster, water mitigation company, nor the leak detection specialist have been able to find the exact source of the leak. Insurance wants to send out an inspector who I assume would work in their favor. I’m trying to prepare in case they deny my claim and I need to bring in independent specialists to help me figure it out. I have vinyl flooring installed on top of hardwood floor, and noticed a soft spot so I removed part of the vinyl and found rotten wood. I've never noticed any water on top of my flooring.
From what I understand, Citizens excludes gradual leaks and seepage, but they have a clause that covers hidden water damage if it was unknown and concealed beneath floors, behind walls, or in ceilings. I’m wondering how that actually works in practice. Since there's no known active leak it must be caused by something situational, hidden or accidental spill. I'm having a hard time determining the fine prints since it gives conflicting information. I've included a few pages from my insurance declaration related to water damage in link below:
https://imgur.com/a/sc50G9K
Would Citizens cover situations like:
- Moisture buildup under flooring due to a failed vapor or moisture barrier?
- An AC leak inside the walls over time from a pipe failure or faulty installation?
- Sporadic leaks from an air handler that was poorly installed?
- A cracked condensate line or even a sewage pipe leaking beneath the slab?
- Water spilled sometime in the past which got under the floor?
Has anyone had Citizens approve a claim for something like this, or did they deny it as a maintenance issue? If they did cover it, what kind of evidence did you need to provide?
I want to be ready in case they push back on the claim. It's been over a month already and I am not able to get the renovations started since adjuster wants me to keep it as is for now. On top of that the adjuster wanted me to keep the damaged flooring (with mold) bagged indoors. And he also advised that we live home since the mold did not seem to be a big issue from what he was able to tell from the photos (despite water mitigation company saying that it was over 10sq ft and asked that we find temporary stay since we have a small child until they send a higienist, which they did not get an approval for from adjuster)...
I would really appreciate your help. Thanks
Blue Cross Complete of Michigan - I just had my finger surgery
so I’m on Medicaid since I’m not working due to my finger injury. I got my surgery done a few months ago and they send me a bill today. I literally thought everything is going to be covered by the insurance. Maybe I should’ve asked questions ahead of time, but I wasn’t aware of this since I know few people who got surgeries and it was covered. I’m not working right now as well since my finger is still not healed. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do right now. do I contact Medicaid or the surgery place? Not sure. by the way, my insurance is Blue cross complete of Michigan. My insurance did pay for over half of the bill but just confused why it wasn’t covered completely.
Hastings Direct - Hastings cancelled my bike insurance after I passed my full test - Do I need to declare it?
Hi all,
Looking for some advice on this situation:
I had a motorcycle insurance policy with Hastings Direct while riding on a CBT (A1/A2 licence). A few days ago, I passed my full A licence and phoned them to update my details. They then told me that, due to their underwriting criteria, they can no longer insure me with a full licence — and that the policy would be cancelled from the 18th of July 2025.
Shortly after the call, I received an official email confirming the cancellation. It states:
“We’re writing to let you know that your bike insurance policy has been cancelled… This is because of the new information provided. Based on these details, it means we can no longer cover you.”
However, during the phone call, I specifically asked if I’d need to declare this cancellation to other insurers. The rep told me no, I wouldn’t have to, because it wasn’t cancelled due to anything I did wrong (no missed payments, no claims, no dishonesty). They said it was purely down to a change in licence type and eligibility.
I’ve emailed them asking for that in writing to cover myself — but in the meantime:
⸻
My questions are:
1. Do I actually need to declare this as a cancellation when applying for future bike insurance?
2. If I don’t declare it (based on what Hastings told me), can another insurer later void my policy if they find out?
3. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
⸻
I’m trying to avoid getting hit with sky-high premiums over something that wasn’t my fault. Any advice from people in the industry or who’ve been through similar would be much appreciated!
I’ll be pretty shocked if I find out I need to declare this going forward as the policy cancellation outcome has been completely out of my control. Simply phoned to let them know I have now passed my MOD2, I wasn’t looking to change my bike or anything else whatsoever and wanted to continue my policy for the time being with my 2011 Honda CBR. Also worth mentioning — Hastings waived any cancellation fees, and I’m getting a refund for the unused portion of the policy. That seems to suggest they don’t consider it a “bad cancellation,” but I want to make sure I’m not risking non-disclosure by trusting what they said on the phone.
Thanks in advance.
