Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan - BCBS of Michigan but located in Northern Virginia
I'm starting a new job in a month. It's remote, and I live in southern Arlington, VA. The health insurance the company provides is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, because it's a Michigan based hospital. My to-be manager (someone I know from a previous job) lives in Arizona and he said the pickings of doctors have been lacking due to it being BCBS of Michigan and he's in Arizona. I'm wondering if anyone has had similar experiences? Should I take the BCBS of Michigan health insurance (which doesn't cover anything birth control related so I'd have to get something to supplement that) and hope for good choices of doctors in Arlington, VA? Or go onto my husband's insurance with Kaiser Permanante even though it's more expensive?
Fetch Insurance - Fetch pet insurance
Hey guys, im soon to be getting a golden retriever puppy and i need some help with pet insurance. Ive narrowed it down to fetch insurance because theyre the most affordable without the worst reviews.
I have seen some chatter about them denying claims but since im registering my pup at less than 8 weeks i figure that they cant deny due too some bs like "previous conditions". Am i naive for thinking that?
I was quoted $120 a month for an annual payout of $15000, annual deductable of $300, and reimbursement rate of 90%. Let me know if you think that i should adjust these values as i picked the highest cost options across the board. Still $40 dollars cheaper than trupanion lol.
I am also considering the wellness plans but im not too sure of the value. Could you guys weigh in on if i'll actually need all of these things done every year and if i'll save money with it?
The annual "savings" are $735 for all that stuff listed but the annual cost of the plan is $563.52, so i'll really only be saving like $170 bucks for the most expensive plan if i understand correctly. There seems to be alot of bloat but ive never had a dog before so who knows.
I live in Canada if that matters, thanks guys.
OneAmerica - LTC Insurance: Provide Financial and Wills?
I'm currently age 64 and in the throes of buying a LTC upfront 120k premium, "return of premium" for One America LTC insurance, and am working with a "financial advisor" who requests all my personal financial, living wills, etc.
I feel like I'm being sucked into a ruse of their playing a role of financial advisor for a fee, when all I want is purchase of the policy, which, I thought, only needs my medical records?
Help me out here...please. For upfront payment, am I being played that I have to provide personal financial info?
Petplan - Pet Insurance Costs
Hi, I’m trying to find pet insurance for my 4 month old Maine coon but Pet plan is extortionate. I don’t know any other insurance company that pays direct rather than potentially being stuck with a huge bill to pay upfront. £47 a month seems high for a young indoor kitten/cat. Why is Pet plan so expensive compared to other providers, do they offer more or is it because the pay vets direct? Can anyone advise if cheaper policy with insurer that will pay vet direct?
Kaiser Permanente - FMLA / CFRA question
I live and work in California for reference. I left my job to seek treatment for substance use disorder and Kaiser is claiming that they cannot excuse me since I did not participate in their outpatient program. I met with a doctor every week and he prescribed me medication to detox at home from fentanyl and methamphetamine. However they claim that this is not considered to be under a doctor's care and will not sign documentation for those dates. Over the course of 28 days I detoxed three times and relapsed three times before they sent me to a third party inpatient program. I am new to the Kaiser program as of this year and they recommended I go through their detox at home and outpatient program instead of directly to inpatient in spite of my long history of substance abuse and my multiple stays at detox facilities and residential facilities. Currently I am unprotected for these 28 days but I am wondering if this is legal?
Progressive - Car hit backend of our 2020 Honda CRV progressive insurance will not pay much for inherit diminish value
Progressive - Car Insurance / financing Nightmare - Need Help!
In New Jersey here. I’ve just been having awful luck with my car the last few years and I’m trying to figure out how to proceed.
My driving history abstract pulled 1/2025:
December 2021 - ticket obstructing passage of other vehicle
March 2022 - fender bender - at fault but not shown on my abstract. insurance paid
October 2022- My leased 2019 Jeep Cherokee was totaled in a hit and run accident. Not at fault. Insurance paid
May 2023 - a Tesla and My new Kia sportage (financed in 1/2023) collide while both Backing out of opposite parking spaces. not shown on my abstract. Insurance paid
November 2023 - got out of my Kia sportage, wasn’t in park and rolled away from me and hit a garage wall. Insurance paid.
progressive sends nonrenewal notice.
January 2024 I can’t find any insurance coverage for less than $1000 a month. So I give up, unregister it, leave it uninsured just and put the car in the garage.
It’s been 15 months without a car. I still can’t afford to insure it. My sister and I decided we would trade cars. I would take her 2015 Chrysler 200 since it’s paid off and see if I can get cheaper insurance. Then she could register and insure my sportage under her name and use it for herself. we’d prefer not to refinance it in her name because we’re going to split the finance payment. My portion would be like paying her for the Chrysler. So that’s our plan but She has NJM and they’re saying they can’t insure the sportage if she’s not on the loan.
Is this possible?
Also any insights the situation as a whole and what to do to proceed? I really need to get back on the road.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Pets Best - Help with Pet insurance
I was hoping someone might have some insight on pet insurance. I have a 2 yo pit bull who, in the last year, started limping. (At this point, we did not have pet insurance) In May of this year, we took him to our vet and they did X-rays and said most likely he has a partial tear in his ACL, however he couldn’t really tell in the X-ray because he wouldn’t stop wiggling for the pictures lol. Fast forward 6 months, he has a hard time getting around now on both legs because he’s over compensating with the other leg which I was told would more than likely happen. I plan to get the surgery for him asap.
We got Pets best insurance a month later after his appointment in May and we are just about at the “6-month waiting period.” I’ve never dealt with pet insurance before. I am familiar with the fact they don’t cover “pre-existing conditions.” I fear that when we go back in January for a new consult that the insurance isn’t going to cover his surgery because we stupidly took him to the vet prior to getting insurance. I guess my question is, has anyone dealt with pets best insurance for this type of situation? How were they?
Also, would anyone recommend a different insurance company? I know there are a select few that cover pre existing conditions. I feel like I totally screwed myself taking him to the vet for this before getting insurance. He’s only two and I refuse to let him suffer his whole life because of this.
Thanks for any advice in advance. Picture for attention ❤️
Healthypaws - Catastrophic cat insurance - worth it? Preferred company?
Healthypaws is raising our premium to $35/month/cat, have had general cat insurance but almost nothing has been covered - their issues (cat herpes early on, recently anal gland stuff) is hardly covered or not at all.
Looking at catastrophic/accident only insurance - is this worth? Do you have a company you like/hate less than all the other companies? Looked at PetsBest which is suspiciously inexpensive at $6/month vs aspcapetinsurance at $22/month for the same coverage. Any help is appreciated!
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Healthy paws pet insurance
Is it even legal for Healthy Paws pet insurance to increase premiums at almost 200% in CA? This is outrageously high!! Anyone experiencing the same?
