Pawp - Rip-off
Rip-off. I had a documented emergency with my cat, Sam, on August 24, 2021. I experienced a video approved emergency with my cat, Emma, on 12/25/2021. Pawp would not cover the expenses because it had paid $395.00 to pay for Sam’s expenses on 8/24/2021. The customer service representative explained that you are entitled to only one emergency payment per year, regardless of how much of the supposed $3,000 annual coverage you actually use. Quite a money maker for Pawp
Pawp - My 5yr old Rottweiler Harli had blood…
My 5yr old Rottweiler Harli had blood in urine and the Vet tech answered after about 6 min and asked a few questions and recommended I take her in to my vet for a check up. I was really worried and it was nice to have someone there to discuss her symptoms. I was very worried.

Pawp - Scam insurance- do not waste your money
Scam insurance- vet agreed animal needed to be seen again emergently but admitted she was constrained by Pawp’s guidelines to release funds. History- my dog stopped eating for 2 days and I called the general line for advice. They asked that I call my vet. I did so, my vet said it was an emergency and needed to be seen today. Pawp didn’t even attempt to cover that even though I later found out on a subsequent visit he’d qualify for emergency funds based on the original conversation. $500 later my poor boy was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Meds given and we were sent home. He rapidly declined two days later- shallow breathing, dehydrated, refusing to eat, shaking of the backsides and complete lethargy- I called to activate the emergency fund because I knew he was going into organ failure. The vet on call agreed with me! However, stated because he didn’t fit into one of their categories they couldn’t issue fund. (Highly recommended that my dog be seen today by my vet at my own expense, however.). Ridiculous. Immediately canceled insurance. These vets aren’t practicing medicine- they are practicing PAWP insurance limitations and pets will die in the process.
Go Pet Plan - Horrible Company
UPDATE TO PETPLAN'S RESPONSE: I did call to discuss my other options and if I wanted to keep my monthly payments at $149 per month they would only provide me with a total of $4,000 annually of reimbursement vs. the $15,000 I had for the years prior. Why would I pay them almost $2000 a year for only $4000 in coverage? Petplan also doesn't reimburse you for 100% of your veterinary bills and are nickel and dime-ing you over what is covered. I repeat: Do not waste your money on this horrible company!
Go Pet Plan - This insurance company is a scam
This insurance company is a scam. I tried to cancel my plan before I sent in my cats wellness check from the vet because I wanted insurance that offered preventative coverage. They prorated my refund making me pay for months I wasn't covered. When I called to check what I was paying for the lady on the phone proceeds to get loud and angry. It was a horrible experience. She just kept spouting off lame excuses why I should pay for services I didn't receive. It's more the principle of the thing tbh. It was only a little over 20 bucks. For them to be so petty and rude for 20 dollars makes me wonder how difficult it would be to get them to pay for a claim. I'm glad I figured this out now instead of hundreds of dollars later.
Go Pet Plan - We have a puppy that has allergies
We have a puppy that has allergies. So we took her to the Vet and he gave her a shot and prescription to treat the problem. Petplan Pet Insurance spends more time avoiding the claim and keeps requesting more and more ridiculous records. This is NOT the first pet that we had insured, so will be cancelling our insurance and going elsewhere.
Pawp - Scam coverage, cancel your pawp insurance ASAP
This was the fourth time we contacted pawp for our cat Cole who had been unable to have a bowel movement for 6 days, despite straining and passing only mucus. During our last chat we discussed how Cole had stopped eating, drinking and was becoming more lethargic with involuntary contractions passing only mucus from below. We wanted to take him to an emergency vet for evaluation as we were concerned he may be obstructed, not just constipated. However, because he was not literally dying in front of us the vet tech refused to release emergency funding despite this being a life threatening situation as his obstruction could lead to perforation. She offered no advice except to seek medical attention as soon as possible but refused to classify it as an emergency. As a general surgeon myself, I can personally tell you that a 6 day bowel obstruction is an emergency and should have been classified as such; and rather than help the pets they insure, pawp incentivizes users to wait to seek medical attention until their pets are in peril if they want to be able to have any financial help with said emergency. We took Cole to the emergency to find out that he had an obstruction requiring ICU admission and immediate intervention that would cost us thousands of dollars. And where was our emergency pet insurance coverage? Never released. Given this extremely frustrating experience, I will be cancelling my pawp membership, and so will the rest of my family (4 others). We have learned that we were paying for a worthless service, thinking that pawp would help us financially when our pets are in need of emergency services (bowel obstruction/blockage even listed as one of their emergencies), however their strict definition of emergency is suspect, and allows for them to refuse access to funds unless you let your pet suffer to near death prior to calling them. They should be ashamed of this misleading ‘emergency coverage’ (that is essentially not accessible), and I would NOT recommend this insurance to anyone. It is a scam. Put your money in a savings account, you are better off then throwing it down the drain with this fake emergency insurance from pawp.
