Embrace - Please give us a better explanation for denial.
Embrace kept denying my claims stating unclear invoice. We were sending a very clear invoice and the claims were piling up. Finally I called and was told it was because there was not a year included on the invoices. Just the month and day.
This was a very legitimate reason but would have been SO MUCH EASIER for me if I was told the reason in the first place.
Trupanion - I’m unsure if the increasing premiums are worth it…
I appreciate the coverage and the comfort of knowing that my pet will receive optimal care if she has an emergency situation.
I’m not happy about the increasing premiums, which average about $30 per year. I enrolled 3 years ago at approximately $65-$70 per month and I’ve been informed that her premium will now be $120 per month, in spite of the fact that I’ve submitted no claims.

I would give -1 if I could, they tell you one thing to get you to sign up (4dogs) but when it comes time to JUST add to the co pay, not even pay you for any thing, then everything changes! had a new vet that day (that I swear must work for them) said my 3 year old very healthy boy who twisted his neck, have some sort of Orthopedic disease!!! Even after I spoke to the vet and she CORRECTED the paperwork, they were terrible! I cancelled all of my dogs insurance with them. Again, you posted “Pre existing” yet the vet herself told me she corrected that in a letter to you. So I am still very glad I canceled all 4 of my policies with you!

I called to check on claim status and to change payment for my renewal due on 1/11/25 and it now appears my policy was cancelled. I do not see an option to renew with my new payment method. Bad communication sadly. I called today and had a fantastic rep , all is good and thank you for the follow up.
I strongly advise folks NOT to go with FETCH Pet Insurance. I ended my policy with FETCH due to their unethical practises. FETCH diagnosed my pet with a pre-existing condition that my pet doesn't even have, as an excuse to deny my claim ! FETCH's actions were contrary to the Veterinarian's medical records for my pet !
I will do my absolute best to put the word out there (in Social Media) in hopes that folks don't get taken advantage of by FETCH Pet Insurance.
Embrace - They refused to cover my street rescue…
They refused to cover my street rescue pup when he got the respiratory illness that was plaguing dogs in 2023 bc he had a documented COUGH when I first got him and during his 30 day wait period. It had been months that he had recovered from the initial cough before the respiratory illness that cost me thousands. Then January 1, 2024, he starts limping. We go through months of diagnostics and possibly treatments. I try to file all the bills but continually keep getting kicked off the app and site. Help line consistently has long wait time but I understood that I had 365 days from vet visit to file for reimbursement. WRONG! Denied, again! I can't switch to another company bc now he's got multiple pre existing conditions 😡

My claims continue to be rejected as pre existing conditions; in hindsight I would not go with this company. This company doesn't have your pet welfare in mind; the profits steer their decisions.

Very horrible and deceiving insurance company. They received your claims and do not process them even though they fall within their policy within a new excuse each time.
Trupanion - Horrible company for cat insurance
Horrible company for cat insurance. First time I went to the vet to bring my cat, who was a stray, they told me that all her conditions were pre-existing because I can’t prove they weren’t with a previous vet record. How could I have a record for an adopted pet who was living in a bush. Basic message was, only take in cats that were bread, BEWARE OF STRAYS or SHELTER CATS.
Beware of the fine print and all the exclusions. I was shocked to find that they refuse coverage for so many random reasons. They will kill you with kindness to get you signed up, but then you get the sharks once it’s time to see the vet and submit a claim. Pretty much assume you will be denied.
I’d assume they are good if you never need to submit a claim for cats, but if you do they won’t pay.
Plus, the customer service is terrible. When I went to cancel and express my concerns, the cancellation agent said “you are unproductive and need to spend more time reading the entire contract.” I was taken aback because I just found out my pet had a medical issue and the insurance denied the claim so I was naturally upset. Tristan, the agent, is a horrible person. I asked if they could refund my premiums for the past 4 months since they refuse to cover anything. He told me they are regulated by the American Pet Insurance Company (APIC) and APIC says they can not provide refunds. So I called APIC and asked if this is true and they said “we have never heard of this.” Tristan is an interesting choice for customer service.
Overall, maybe good for dogs (I can’t speak on this), but don’t buy for cats. There are better options I’m sure. But probably better off just paying out of pocket.
Spot - Some good but some bad
Spot pays quickly what you pay upfront. Deductible is half what other companies charge. But if you have to wait a full year to submit a claim, you are out of luck. So really, you are forced to go elsewhere. Other companies offer 90% not 80% and do not have a limit of claim amounts. So choose wisely, it sounds good and for no problems it is great.
