Embrace - Frustrating to submit 3 invoices as her…
Frustrating to submit 3 invoices as her condition did not improve and xmas eve original vet closed so had to bring her to ER vet. Your software only takes 1 hospital and invoice and yet you state you want all of them together. Impossible. As if this whole experience is not stressful enough.
Spot - Waste of money
Everything will be a preexisting condition and denied coverage, including curable infections that have been healed. Waste of money.
Embrace - Payments increase at extreme rate every year
I couldn't tell you what the payout process is like because I never had to make a claim. YET, my policy started out at $63 a month, the next year was $86, the next year went to $98 and this year they wanted $132 a month. I can't imagine what the monthly charge would be 5-6 years from now when I would likely need to use the policy. I cancelled and just started putting $150 aside for vet bills. If I would have put away $100 a month from the beginning I would have $3600 already and $10k by the time I likely need it.
Embrace - Mixed reviews
I have submitted 3 claims and 1 precert. The precert and one of the claims were reviewed and reimbursed within a couple days. The turn around time on the completed precert is still in review 9 days past submission. This claim should have been the easiest to review as the precert was completed beforehand. Nine days is a lot of time for a procedure that was out of pocket over $2,000.
Pets Best - Denied a wellness exam reimbursement…
Denied a wellness exam reimbursement for lack of medical records. That was her first time going to the vet she has no medical records. I won't be wasting any money on this company!!!
Embrace - Not Flexible and Unreasonable
Pet insurance is an incredible resource when it comes to managing the financial burden of unexpected pet-related expenses. However, I’ve encountered a frustrating issue with Embrace Pet Insurance that feels both unreasonable and unfair to loyal, paying customers.
The inability to increase the reimbursement percentage and amount on an existing policy without triggering additional waiting periods is unreasonable. This policy effectively turns any pre-existing condition your pet has into a permanent limitation if you wish to adjust your coverage. Additionally it does not consider how accidents may cost more than what the customers anticipated at the beginning of their policy.
An embrace representative stated that any increase of policy, regardless of when it’s done will result in current conditions or injuries becoming pre-existing and no longer covered under the insurance. This basically means that you are stuck at the amount you first selected when you initially started your policy.
As a paying customer, I find it disappointing that policy adjustments aren’t more flexible, especially when the goal is to provide the best possible care for our pets.
While the coverage itself is valuable and reimbursements are reliable, this limitation is worth considering before choosing Embrace.
Embrace - Very hard to get claims approved
Very hard to get claims approved. Very dissatisfied. Much easier with my other dog’s insurance. And they about doubled the new year premium. Probably going to drop them for all the frustration.
Hartville - They do not even cover surgeries they say that they cover. Complete Rip off. AVOID
My owner called Hartville to make sure that her dog's TPLO surgery from tearing her cruciate ligament (ACL for people), and they said that it would be covered. They have now denied the $5000 claim after she's already paid for it, and their stance is that since the owner did not see an accident or injury, it's not an injury. They say it is an illness that causes the rupture and thus is not covered under her accidental/injury policy. I responded with a long letter about how this patient had no orthopedic history and was acutely unable to put weight on their leg one day after coming in from the backyard, obviously indicating an acute injury. Their response was, "Knee and ligament conditions are orthopedic illnesses...regardless of cause". Do not use this company, as they are the only ones I know of who can deny a simple knee surgery, so there is no telling what else they would deny.
Fetch - DENIED and DENIED, the prorated to cancel
I ended up with a cat that my daughter brought home from college. I bought Fetch Insurance in mid summer. My cat had his first visit to a vet in December and needed eardrops for a yeast infection. DENIED. The vet also said we should have his teeth cleaned which Fetch advertised that they would cover. DENIED. All claims in the first 12 months of your policy will be DENIED as pre-existing conditions. Buyer beware. I wish I was an an attorney and read all the fine print. Here's the kicker. When I called to cancel, they made me pay a prorated amount since the date of my last payment. I'm sure it's a very profitable business. Denying customer claims makes money for the insurance industry. Pets are no exception.
Embrace - Not worth the money
Spent almost $90 per month for a year, never used it and then they raised my rate to $120, so I canceled. THEN they told me they had a special rate at $14/month for major incidents only (which is all I really wanted anyway). Not impressed
