Fetch - Don't bother with this insurance
Don't bother with this insurance. I have a 3 year old dog that we adopted. The poor thing has had one problem after another. I have sent claims to Fetch months ago and still have not been paid. I called yesterday and had an automated answer that said the claims where closed. I called my husband who received the same message but no answer to when we would be reimbursed. When I called today (the day after my call) the woman said they where waiting for more information. I sent it to them over a month ago! She said my claim was still opened. Does anyone know what's going on over there? I just received another bill from the Vet for over 900 dollars. She needs an operation for 8000 dollars. I'm sorry to say the poor girl at Fetch got an ear full from me. If we do not receive a check in the next two weeks I'm canceling this policy.
Trupanion - Outrageous Price Increases
Raised our insurance rates 20-30% every year, even though we never submitted any claims. Our dog is still young and healthy. I can only imagine what Trupanion would have charged by the time he was older and needed care. I switched to Lemonade, which was less than half the price.
Nationwide - Amazing Rep, Disappointing Options
My representative was absolutely great. Loved him. If I could review him separately, he'd get 5-stars without question. He was very personable and helpful throughout the whole process and took the time to explain anything I had questions on.
However, I feel that the options for pet insurance plans have significantly dropped in quality and coverage, especially after having my grandfathered-in whole pet w/ wellness policies (3 pets) cancelled (like so many others did, I'm sure). Am I still going to insure my pets? Yes, because I love and care for them. But am I also greatly upset by the severe downgrade in coverage and care? Yes. I cannot express in words the sheer level of disappointed I am with this shift. This has definitely taken a shift toward accident-only coverage and it's highly disappointing that my pets are now treated more like a car than a living being.
Embrace - STAY AWAY
I have had Embrace for just over a year now. I have 3 claims, one was denied which is ok, it was within 14 days of getting the insurance, however the other 2 are still "on hold" even after giving ALL information requested. I have paid so much money to them and they refuse to honor my policy. STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSURANCE COMPANY
MetLife - Extremely Disappointed with MetLife’s Poor Customer Service and Claims Process
I am incredibly disappointed with MetLife’s pet insurance service, particularly their customer service and claims process. I attempted to file a claim for my cat, providing all requested documents, but their app repeatedly flagged missing information, delaying my claim without clear guidance. When I contacted customer support to clarify, I was told I needed a “benefit document” from my previous pet insurance provider. This requirement is unreasonable and poorly communicated for several reasons:
I am no longer a customer of my previous insurer, making it extremely difficult to obtain such documents. MetLife never mentioned this requirement when I switched to their policy, leaving me blindsided.
If MetLife were my first pet insurance provider, would I be unable to file a claim simply because I lack a prior insurer? This policy feels designed to obstruct claims.
The customer service team offered no solutions, and their app is frustratingly unreliable. This experience has been the worst I’ve encountered with any insurance provider. MetLife’s lack of transparency and poor treatment of customers has left me deeply dissatisfied. I will not use any MetLife products again and strongly caution others against choosing their pet insurance.
Embrace - Unfair review period
They offer a medical history review for pre-existing conditions and refunds within thirty days of purchase. What they don't make clear is that there is no way to complete the medical review in that time frame. On day thirty two, Embrace confirmed a long list of conditions they wouldn't cover, despite my request for review immediately after signing up, and refused the refund.
Fetch Canada - Very unhappy with this company
Please, please trust me and do not use this company for pet insurance. While the fees are reasonable, the website is an actual pain in the butt to use. I sent invoices and all of my pets medical records, but my claims were denied because they kept saying the medical records were incomplete. I called, after having to search high and low for an actual phone number, and spoke to several agents who said, no everything you provided is sufficient, yet I keep getting emails that my claim is on hold because I'm missing documents. And then I find out that I can't even claim my actual visit anyway because my vet won't split out the vet visit for vaccinations, so I can't claim that either (not the fault of Fetch) however, very frustrated dealing with this company. Save your money and don't spend with this company, it's a complete waste of money.
Embrace - Profit over Pets
My 6 year old Newfoundland required surgery which cost $4000 to repair a defect in his throat; Embrace denied the claim because he was once seen for a cough; calling laryngeal paralysis a pre existing condition.
Now they want to increase my premiums in May; the anniversary of the policy.
Embrace - Embrace Will Cheat You - Do Not Use Them
After 10 YEARS With Embrace, I Can Honestly Say, They Will Come Up- With Excuses Not To Pay You For Your Dog's Seminal Check Up! Since December 2024, I Have Been Paying $110 MONTHLY for My Dog Insurance. They Raise My Monthly Payment every 3 1/2 Years.
My Last Vet Checkup Bill was roughly $464.00, but Embrace Only Paid Me FOUR DOLLARS AND NINE CENTS!
When I Complained, They Said I Filed Two Days Too Early Before My Next Payment Date. Ths is The Second Time Embrace Has Cheated Me Out of Hundreds of Dollars. I Have Always Paid Them on Time and Have Not Had Any Major Dog Surgery Problems. You need To Go To The Vet Within The Dr. Time Frame For Seeing Your Dog. I Have Complained
To The State Insurance Agency That Overseas Embrace Dog License. I also Sent In two Letters From The Embrace Portal Showing i was Told I Would GET MORE MONEY. They Gave Embrace 165 Days To Respond. I Am Still Waiting To Hear The Response From (Sorry A$$) Embrace.
By The Way, Embrace Is Owned by USAA LiFE IINSURANCE Which I have Been With For Over 50 Years. USAA Did Not Give Me The Time Of Day When I Complained To Them. For The Last 7 Years, New Management Has Taken Over. USAA and Run It Into The Ground!
USAA Used To Be An Excellent Company--Not Anymore.
Nationwide - Nationwide Con Artists
Our dogs policy was cancelled supposedly due to not being cost effective. Therefore, I had to enroll her as a new policy and now they will not cover pre-existing conditions that they themselves had already covered for the last 4 years. I have been a loyal customer with all of my pets for over 15 years. I believe this was a scheme they made up so all existing customers pets would no longer be covered and save them money. The coverage is the exact same as what my dog had before with just a different name, and no pressure-existing conditions of course. I am now canceling and going with another provider who will cover her and will care about my pet. Nationwide I think conned everyone, when really it was all to get more money.
