Christis Health Plan - Denied Claim
Hello.
I’m looking for options or ideas to fight the denial. I’ll start by saying I’m not medical insurance savvy whatsoever, I struggle to fully understand the what’s and whatnots. Her insurance is Christis Health Plan.
My mother (45) battled stage 3 cancer last year up until two months ago when we finally got the good news she’s in remission. As she’s come off an aggressive treatment plan, she has started to lose function of her legs. Her PCP has ordered an MRI to attempt to diagnose but the insurance has denied it. Currently she’s on a medication to ease the numbness/ loss of control but over the last few weeks it has gotten to the point she cant make it up the four stairs without help and falls on uneven ground. I’m not sure how much else info is relevant but I’ll do my best to answer any questions.
She’s calling both her doctor and insurance in the morning for further information. What specifically should she be asking? Is there anything we can do to help get this approved? Any help is so appreciated as a $1400 MRI cash pay seems daunting, much less whatever it may cost to get her back in walking order.
GEICO - Accident w/ gov vehicle
Location: Inland Empire, CA Date of accident: 07/09 @10:30am
This is my first car accident ever and I need help. I have a 2012 honda civic coupe and I was driving from one traffic light to the next staying in the right about to turn right at the next light into a shopping complex. There was a car speeding at the first traffic light in the lane closest to the left turning lane (there was only 4 lanes; 2 turning, 2 middle going straight) which I noticed and decided to keep some distance. Before I got to the second light, I was passing a gas station and I gave a quick glance to see the entrance in which I was about to turn into and next thing I know I get hit on my driver side. We pull into the gas station and exchange information. Come to find out he 20yr marine driving gov vehicle apparently he wasn’t supposed to be driving. I call the police and they said they would not come because there was no injuries to me or my mom or the other folks in the other car. As of right now I have emotional trauma and anxiety whenever I get on the road again. My adrenaline was so heightened I wouldn’t even have noticed if there was an injuries. His recruiter pulls up and says he would take the fault instead and that way less damage to them. I said as long as I’m taken care of with the right amount for my car I don’t care (this might have been a mistake and said in heightened anxiety and panic so please let me know if I was wrong, I gave a report with my insurance saying it was the recruiter already so :/ if so can I fix it?). I was okay knowing i might be able to drive my car a few miles back to the house but less than a quarter mile and the car started smoking so we had to get it towed. My front driver tire is tilted inward and my bumper and fender faced real damages. My panic and anxiety starts setting in real bad so first though obviously reach out to my insurance. I have GEICO (come to find out I don’t have collision coverage which is a factor I entrusted to my dad but story for a different day) and they have GSA (they are with USMC). My insurance already said I’m not at fault but can’t do much for me right now (they can reimburse a rental though). The people involved said they filed a report with GSA (implying I hit them which I figured but the footage says otherwise) and I’m going to put a claim in to GSA but I’m just waiting to get a quote on the damages. I’m told this process is going to be long and brutal so I could use all the help I can get. People are saying get a lawyer and some are saying don’t get one and I don’t know how to navigate that. My car is old so it’s only worth a little (170k over a decade old with a salvaged title with some issues like AC and wheel bearing) and it doesn’t make sense to me to put whatever money I get into it when I can put it for a new car. This is my first car so I’ve been super emotional and I have been stressed through this process as I feel like I’m navigating it mainly alone. I have also missed a few days of work because I don’t have a vehicle to get there. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. I’ll need all the help I can get.
I have footage I can provide as well of the accident.
UMPQUA - Stated income HELOCs? (California)
Are there any stated income HELOCs out there? I dragged my feet on UMPQUA which auto approved up to 100k, but when I finally got around to applying, they changed their DTI from 50 to 40% and their estimated DTI for me came 38-43% so it triggered stips.
I don't need a HELOC, but would like to open one just in case. Figure is popular, but requires you to draw the full applied amount for, and they charge you 5% off that (big no thanks).
I have about $200k in room for 85% CLTV, but I'm ok with max limits of $100k for auto approvals. Anything full doc is not worth my time, so I don't want to go down those avenues, and I don't want anything that requires a draw at open that you get a fat charge on.
Thanks!
Progressive Insurance - Progressive Insurance Question
Hey everyone,
I had a question regarding auto insurance with Progressive. They sent me a memo via email and asked me to call them about folks under the same roof as me not under my insurance. I called them and explained that I declined coverage for all my family members under my roof, for the have their own insurance. They said I still need to "pay" to have them declined under my coverage. I asked the girl over the phone why I need to pay to decline them coverage on my policy. She said it's in case they're passengers.
So let me get this straight, they want me to pay $93+ to state all my parents and siblings are declined on my policy? Even though NO ONE drives my vehicle. Is this legal? They said they're mailing me a document via mail for me to sign and get back to them to continue coverage.
Fetch - Looking to drop Fetch after price hikes -- advice for 9 y/o terrier mix?
Hey everyone!
Fetch just sent us our plan renewal and it's quite a bit higher this year. I'm looking to switch while my dog still is quite healthy. She's a 9 year old scrappy terrier mix, and has one pre-existing condition of a femoral head removal before I got her (which was pre-existing for her current policy as well).
She's also broken several teeth over the course of several years, which was covered with Fetch, but I'm worried it might not be with other companies (even though those were accidents and not conditions).
Is it worth it to switch at this point? I'm seeing some decent slightly lower quotes at Lemonade, Pets Best, and Embrace. But basically every company out there has a post on here bemoaning said company as a "scam." I'm looking for accident and injury coverage with a high max payout of $15,000 or more, deductible of $250-500, and no add ons.
Embrace - Embrace almost doubling premium
My monthly premium with Embrace was $54 a month and I just got a notice it will be $93 a month. This is an obscene increase. My pet is an almost 8 year old male cat I have had since he was 2. He has been in great health with no issues. I’ve had embrace since I got him.
Should I get new pet insurance? I’ve seen really mixed reviews about embrace being a scam. There is absolutely no justification for this premium increase in my opinion, but I’d like it get other thoughts.
Aetna - Aetna denied urgent care visit deemed as non urgent
i went to urgent care to get HIV PEP pills. Which must be taken within 72 hours of a potential exposure. i payed my $10 copay and They prescribed me the medicine where I was able to get my medication at the pharmacy that was covered by Aetna. But when I checked they fully denied my visit when I called she said the visit was not urgent. i told her I want to do an appeal. But im
Absolutely disgusted by Aetna im already traumatized. i feel this needs to reported but I don't know which agency I would need to reach out too.
Inspira - Inspira IRA transfer to Vanguard
Has anyone successfully moved their IRA from Inspira to Vanguard with an "in kind" transfer? It's impossible to reach anyone via phone at Inspira for help!
Fetch Pet Insurance - UPDATE: Fetch Pet Insurance (deceitful enrollment language)
Hi everyone I posted here a few weeks ago with issues regarding Fetch Pet Insurance (formerly Pet Plan) and I have just had an absolutely awful experience with them regarding my dog’s recent knee surgery
Basically, they are rolling out a “prescription sub-limit” on all of the policies they can and using that to cap any and all medical expenses as they relate to medications at 1,500 dollars. This includes any medications administered by a veterinarian and as I’ve been made aware, it includes medically necessary surgical anesthetic medications. During my enrollment call and upon reviewing my application of benefits, I was only made aware of the coverage I purchased. 10,000 dollars reimbursement, 80% reimbursement rate, and a 500 dollar deductible. There is no language on my application that indicates a sublimit.
I just got off of a call with a supervisor reviewing my claim review and also my issue with this sublimit (as it was not reviewed with me in my enrollment call like it legally should have been per my enrollment application)
The gist of the call was that “we can’t go over the whole policy” and that “we’re sorry you feel that way” even though the language of the application states in the agreement section that “I have been advised and have had the various
other coverages and limits available to me under this policy fully explained. It is my decision to purchase the Coverages and limits set forth herein”
All in all, if you plan to purchase pet insurance out of fear of surgical needs or expect for your coverage to be that which you go over in your enrollment calls, do not go with Fetch Pet. They are deceitful and intentionally vague in their policy documents and apply sub-limits without disclosing them to their plan purchasers. Thankfully, Fetch has still lost money on my dog due to the expensive nature of her surgery. But I will be looking at all my options when enrollment time comes around and consider switching because this company is unprofessional and blatantly lying to their customers.
Now I have hit the sub-limit after one surgery and if my dog were to need another surgery this year according to Fetch I am SOL. If anyone has enrolled in Fetch this year or last year, please review your policy documents and let me know if they applied a sublimit to your policy (and whether or not the enrollment agent informed you of that sublimit)
