GEICO - Is it normal in California??
Is this auto insurance premium reasonable? ($1,208.10/year for two cars)
Vehicle 1: 2008 Lexus IS 250 – $715.48
Vehicle 2: 2008 Honda Civic LX – $494.38
I'm in California and just renewed my auto insurance. I've been with GEICO for a while, but the premium keeps going up every year.
Is this normal?
Progressive - INSURANCE BILL HELP
Long story short. February 12th, Progressive sent me an email saying if I don’t pay the minimum that on the 28th they would cancel my insurance BUT on February 14, they sent an email saying that they had already canceled my policy on the 3rd…
They still want me to pay a full month’s bill for insurance I had for only 2 days. HECK NO.
I had been fighting a case to get money back for a certain reason & they assured me that everything would work out.
Apparently whoever was looking into my case, denied it (okay fine… sure) & then for some bizarre reason took it upon themselves to believe that because it was denied I wouldn’t want insurance anymore? So they canceled it themselves.
Yes, I was on the phone with them about 3hrs. They all said there’s nothing that can be done but that an agent shouldn’t have the power to cancel one’s policy.
If I don’t pay, it goes to collections.
So why did he?
How do I fight this? Please help.
Thank you in advance <3
California FAIR Plan - Paid CA Fair plan late
I paid my premium online on Aug 5, and they took the money. I have a receipt. I received a cancellation notice today saying I didn’t pay the premium. I looked and my insurance expired at 11:59 PM on Aug 4. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any guidance is welcome?
Progressive - Progressive - what counts as permissive use?
My boyfriend was driving my car when it was hit from behind. Car A hit Car B that then hit me, then Car A fled the scene. My boyfriend does not live with me and he doesn't regularly drive my car. We did a road trip 2 years ago, where he did drive my car a lot, so he told the insurance he drove it 20 times in the past two years.
Now they're saying I have to add him to my policy because he's a regular user of the vehicle. I can exclude him from the policy for less money. Is there any way that I can insist he doesn't regularly use the car besides what I've already said? In the recorded interview, he said that, in a given month, he doesn't use it. Could they say that, because he's a regular user, they will reject the claim, even if I do pay to exclude him from the policy or add him to the policy retroactively?
Geico - Geico breaking policy?
Hello!
I recently rear ended someone recently and this accident ended up totalling my car. I have geico insurance and they are stating that I only get 3 days with my rental car. My policy does not say that anywhere. They severely undervalued my car. I compared it to KBB and other cars with similar make and models and mileage. I sent them these and they told me to hire an independent appraiser. I don't have the funds to hire someone to do this. They are going to make me turn in my rental car before they even pay out any money so I can get a new vehicle. I have asked my adjuster to send me where in my policy it states this and they have been unable to provide me a location in my policy where anything that they are citing is stated.I am feeling a bit lost and hopeless and I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue before or if they have any advice. Any would be great! Thank you so much!
Pennie - Clarification about guidance from Pennie about complex health insurance case involving legal immigration.. Help!
I attempted to enroll my wife in a Pennie health insurance plan with a July 1 start date, even though she won’t physically arrive in the U.S. until July 8. She’s entering as a lawful permanent resident, and as I understand it, that status only becomes official when she enters the country and gets the I-551 stamp or green card. When I called Pennie, I expected them to tell me to wait until she arrived. Instead, multiple reps told me I could start her coverage as early as June 1. They said as long as I uploaded her green card by the September 18 deadline, everything would be fine.
At the time, I followed their advice. But now that I’ve gone through the actual policy language from Pennie, I’m second-guessing the whole thing. From what I can tell, coverage can’t legally begin until someone is lawfully present. That would make July 1 an ineligible start date since she won’t even be in the country until July 8. It also looks like coverage normally starts the *first of the month after enrollment,* which makes me think August 1 is actually the soonest possible date.
So now I’m stuck wondering what happens if I submit her green card later and it clearly shows that she didn’t become eligible until after the start date I selected. Will the system flag it? Will coverage be denied or quietly canceled? Do I need to withdraw and reapply once she arrives?
I’m looking for input from anyone who really understands how Pennie processes these kinds of cases—ideally someone with inside knowledge, or a rep who has seen how this plays out in practice. Any analysis or clarification would help a lot.
United Healthcare - Sent a bill 13 months later
On March 11th, 2024, I had an outpatient surgery procedure done.
Flash forward to today, April 8th, 2025 and I just received a bill for over $3000 for this surgery. The bill states that the surgery cost overall was $20,000 and my insurance at the time paid for ~$16,000. I was covered under United healthcare and this coverage ended about 5 months ago.
Here are my questions:
1. Why am I just getting this bill now? Is this even legal? (I live in WI)
2. What would be the first step to getting this figured out?
Geico - Geico Auto insurance
I was in a non injury auto collision accident with another vehicle. My car sustained much worse damage than the other car. I went to get an estimate at SHOP A and it's $3,000 to fix and only need 4 days. I then filed a claim through my Geico insurance. They say there is no fault on either party so we have to pay through our own coverage. Geico has set me up with their Auto Repair Xpress (ARX) locations. The ARX shop says it may take 2 weeks of back and forth with Geico to get my car back. And I'd need to get my own rental since my insurance doesn't cover rentals. My question is, can I use SHOP A and use Geico? Or do I have to go through ARX? How will Geico determine how much they will pay for if they don't inspect my car?
Nationwide - Nationwide Dropping Coverage Amount
Just got my renewal notice for my dog, whom I've had on their policy since I adopted her 7 years ago. It's literally saved her life at least once with an emergency surgery being 90% covered. I'd noticed a year or 2 ago they were no longer offering the 90% reimbursement plan to new customers but figured as long as I maintained my payments (which had gone up SIGNIFICANTLY) I'd be held in that same plan as long as I wanted. Not so. When I opened the renewal letter this morning, I noticed the premium dropped by about 30 a month but the reimbursement amount also dropped to 50%. Very disappointingly, the letter said that to maintain competitive pricing, they needed to make this change. I think I'll be shopping around for a new provider but am fearful that starting a new policy means my dog's chronically arthritic leg and hip (she was mushed when she was a puppy before I got her and never treated) won't be covered nor will her supplements and so forth that keeps her from feeling too much pain. Any advice?
Geico - Reimbursed after spending out of pocket for an auto body claim?
Hi all,
Just got my car back from a shop. Took over a month after multiple supplements and back and forth between geico and the shop. Geico ended up being $1000 short still from what the shop wanted and I ended up paying out of pocket to get my car back.
Geico said they would not reimburse me (when I brought it up), however after some research and speaking with some on reddit and the shop, they state geico will reimburse me bc of my policy with them.
Can anyone provide any insight or guidance in how to proceed if this is true? Thank you
