Accident and Insurance - Accident and Insurance wants excluded drivers info
I recently got into an accident, where I was the only one driving, and there was no one else in the vehicle with me. I was reversed into and the other person that was driving only provided me with their ID, no insurance, and they only had a temporary plate on that was expired. Key note: they were at fault and offered to pay for it but my car is 2024 vehicle so I need to claim diminishing value.
My insurance after submitting my claim, reached out to them, but they have not responded. Now my insurance wants my excluded family members insurance information even thought they were NOT in the accident. I don’t think this is normal and a bit sketchy. Any thoughts or recommendations?
I’m thinking of looking into an insurance client advocate or legal help if needed. For reference, I live in LA county California
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Healthy Paws Pet Insurance Warning
Created a Reddit account to share this year's premium increase on every post or topic re: Healthy Paws. As a loyal customer since 2011, who has been dealing with the already massive price increases every year since 2020/21 but forced to deal with it, I can't anymore and am being forced to cancel. Sharing this for the greater good, and won't even share further details in hope the numbers you see below speaks for itself. Apologies that I cannot seem to post a screenshot. Started around $34 in 2011. These numbers are for 2 small dogs, with the majority of the increase related to the old one).

Healthy Paws - Switching Insurance -- Worth it?
I'm currently on Healthy Paws for my 4 year old mixed breed (40 lbs). I was living in Illinois and it was 55$, but moved to Minnesota and its now 75$. Ive considered switching for a cheaper price, and because I have seen a lot of reviews here that the prices for Healthy Paws have exploded. Originally I was considering Pets Best but also saw a lot of reviews that they have gone down hill. So here are my questions
1) I have seen Chewy offers lemonade or trupanion in my state, and both seem to be well regarded. Why would I get the insurance through Chewy vs direct?
2) My dog definitely has seasonal allergies which I've been getting the cyto shot for. This falls under a pre-existing condition right? Would it be worth it to stay on Healthy Paws just for this?
3) If I did switch, there can be waiting periods for 2-4 weeks, so should I keep HP for an extra month while waiting?
4) Are any of the add-ons recommended? Ive seen that preventative is probably not, but Lemonade mentions vet fees, dental, end of life, behavioral, physical therapy... Would other insurances already include this?
Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance - Fighting Insurance Fraud & Corruption: My 4.5 Year Battle with Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance (Birmingham, UK)
**Location:** Birmingham, UK
**Type of Insurance:** Home Insurance (Subsidence Claim)
I'm sharing my experience dealing with what I believe is systemic fraud by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance (RSA) and their loss adjusters, Crawford & Company. After 4.5 years of battling for a fair resolution to my subsidence claim, I've submitted a formal escalated criminal complaint to the Chief Ombudsman following their recent decision (PNX-5126400-B7P5, January 24, 2025).
# Background
In September 2020, I filed a subsidence claim with RSA. The Ombudsman has already acknowledged RSA's "shockingly poor service" and "significant avoidable delays" in their decision. However, my complaint goes much deeper than poor service.
# The Evidence I've Gathered
Over these years, I've collected substantial evidence of what appears to be deliberate misconduct:
1. **Fabricated Complaints**: RSA created three fake complaints (January 30, September 26, and December 7, 2024) to manipulate regulatory timelines and circumvent proper oversight.
2. **Falsified Technical Documents**: Key claim documents including the Schedule of Works (SOW), Certificate of Structural Adequacy (CoSA), and Forms of Acceptance (FOAs) appear to have been fabricated. Metadata analysis reveals these were created in 2024 but backdated to 2021.
3. **Data Protection Violations**: My Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) came back with approximately 73 critical documents fully redacted and many (around 50+) others improperly withheld.
4. **Claim Reference Manipulation**: RSA repeatedly changed my claim references (from SU2004338 to 1781135 to 202405326), seemingly to obscure the complaint history and make tracking impossible.
5. **Conflicts of Interest**: The person investigating my complaints at RSA was directly implicated in the issues I was complaining about.
# Most Concerning Evidence
What troubles me most is that when I examined the Certificate of Structural Adequacy, it falsely claimed that Leo Horsfield (the structural surveyor) recommended removing an ash tree that had already been felled two years before they were even involved in my case. This demonstrates deliberate falsification, not just an administrative error.
Similarly, the Schedule of Works was created on April 30, 2024 (proven by metadata), yet RSA claimed it existed since July 2021. When challenged, they couldn't produce the original document.
# Where Things Stand Now
The Ombudsman's decision acknowledged the poor service but couldn't address the potential fraud due to their limited remit and outside timeframes of this particular complaint. I've now escalated to the Chief Ombudsman, with copies to the Financial Conduct Authority, Information Commissioner's Office, and Serious Fraud Office.
My 122-page complaint (filed 02.03.2025) meticulously documents every falsified document, fabricated complaint, and regulatory breach with supporting evidence. I believe RSA's actions go beyond poor service into potentially criminal territory.
# What I Hope For
I'm sharing this to warn others and hopefully connect with people who may have experienced similar issues. I also hope that by bringing awareness to this case, the regulatory bodies will give it the serious attention it deserves.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this with RSA or other insurers? Any advice on navigating this process would be greatly appreciated.
Progressive - Progressive - what counts as permissive use?
My boyfriend was driving my car when it was hit from behind. Car A hit Car B that then hit me, then Car A fled the scene. My boyfriend does not live with me and he doesn't regularly drive my car. We did a road trip 2 years ago, where he did drive my car a lot, so he told the insurance he drove it 20 times in the past two years.
Now they're saying I have to add him to my policy because he's a regular user of the vehicle. I can exclude him from the policy for less money. Is there any way that I can insist he doesn't regularly use the car besides what I've already said? In the recorded interview, he said that, in a given month, he doesn't use it. Could they say that, because he's a regular user, they will reject the claim, even if I do pay to exclude him from the policy or add him to the policy retroactively?
Cocolife - Cocolife - Be Vigilant
Idk but this happened nung January pa this year, but I have come to notice that yung mga agents nila sa malls (esp sa SM) are not working professionally. I get that gusto nila makabenta pero di naman tama yung 'tactics' nila. Kaya napagkakamalan silang scam eh. Well my personal experience, would say parang na scam nako. May babaeng lumapit claiming na may ibibigay daw silang prize if sasali ako sa "raffle" kuno nila, makikipag usap tapos pupuriin pa then the next thing I know is papuntahin ako sa office since kukunin ko daw yung prize without knowing na dito na mag sisimula yung kalbaryo ko. May FA na kumausap, mag bibigay ng advise or whatever. Ako naman, I thought nag mamarket lang, umabot kami ng 45 minutes don then yun na pala, ipa aavail na ng policy nila. I declined first, sabi ko "your agent said na di kayohihingi ng kahit anong money or what, so bakit kailangan kong bumili ng policy niyo?" Nagalit pa yung FA, inulit yung mga sinabi kanina. Ang ending napabayad ako ng about 9k good for three months na yun.
Nakakbweset lang kasi bakit kailangan mang linlang, and bakit may pamwersa sa mga tao kung tatanggi. If you're a professional, you would not get mad at someone saying "AYOKO", and in the first place dapat di na kayo nag sinungaling na wala kaming babayarang kahit na ano.
- just a rant lang, nag lapse na yung policy ko since di ko na tinuloy yung pag hulog, sana napakain nila mga pamilya nila sa 9k na kinuha nila.
Progressive - Necessary to pay $150 fee and forfeit plate? Commercial Auto Insurance in Florida
I pay an arm and a leg for commercial auto insurance for a child care related business. I have 6 vehicles that I'm charged around $4500/yr per vehicle (yes I've shopped this several times, no there aren't better rates available, very few companies will even write policies for this industry). We don't use the vehicles at all in summer so they just sit in a parking lot. In years gone by, I've been able to drop the insurance during those months to "seasonal coverage" which basically means they are comprehensive only, and have no liability insurance because they are not being driven. Progressive has no problem with this. This ended up saving me about $2000/mo for 2,5 months, all in, or about $5000.
I tried to do that for this year and I got an angry letter from the State of Florida saying that I need to forfeit my plates and pay a $150 reinstatement fee for each vehicle because I've "dropped my insurance". I've never gotten this letter before. Is there any way around that? Does this mean that I'm stuck paying liability insurance on vehicles that never see the road?
Mercury - Mercury wants EDR data 1yr later
Hey folks, my son was in a n accident a year ago. A driver hit him and a number of other people on the freeway. Son was NOT at fault and took the least of the overall damage. Mercury had me send the car to their adjuster and repair. It was fixed a year ago. All done I thought. Now I’m getting messages from the adjuster ranking for the EDR data from the car. What are my obligations here? The car was in another slight accident after this(hit a pole).
Neither accident had airbag deploy.
The letter they sent was quite demanding.
Trupanion - Trupanion increasing rates 20%
Just got the email. Already paying around $300 a month. Now I get to pay $350. That's after one year of coverage for a one year old dog.
Lemonade - Recommendations for older cat
Hello! I am struggling to find a good plan for my older cat. I am moving out for college and my apartment requires my cat has insurance. My family never considered pet insurance for her, so it's quite a struggle.
Im an undergrad and I love my cat a lot, I grew up with her. She's the cutest torbie short hair with a beautiful coat. But she is 12 years old, with quite a few preexisting conditions. She has arthritis issues and a pretty bad knee, a partially amputated tail from cysts, and has had teeth issues as well. Honestly, considering her pre-existing conditions, I know I will not get much from insurance besides maybe small coverage for check-ups.
Lemonade will not let me file for her because of her age. If anyone has recommendations, I am considering a cheaper policy. I am looking into FIGO, but obviously, I have seen bad reviews for every company so I am pretty stuck on what to do.
