State Farm - Homeowners insurance estimate missing items that were on last estimate
Hello, hurricane damage claim. State Farm. Upon reviewing my latest final estimate, I noticed that it is missing around $34k of damage for items: hazardous material/asbestos removal, water remediation and tree removal. These items have already been included in previous estimates but they are not listed in the most recent one. Two line items are removed completely and the tree removal was deducted from previous demolition line item now showing $500 when it was $9000 (with tree removal)
This estimate has increased based on some other items like additional roofing repairs and other things to the tune of about $40k, but with the removal of $34k in line items it only goes a little higher. I am concerned why those items would be removed. I have a call into the adjuster but looking to see if anyone has any ideas.
I can’t tell if they took it out to see if we’d notice and playing games or what. Those items have already been paid previously and the roof is complete as well so it doesn’t make sense to me.
United Healthcare - Out of network reimbursement
I went to an out of network Health specialist. I had 2 visits for around $200 per visit paid via credit card. They told me to send my invoice/receipt to my insurance company and they would reimburse me. I submitted 2 claims to United Healthcare and they were approved as out of network which went towards that deductible. I just assumed that after that approval, a check from UHC would be sent in the mail to me. It wasn’t.
I chatted with UHC customer service today and they said to contact the health specialist business to resubmit the claim as in network. Talked to the specialist business representative and they don’t deal with insurance AT ALL. They are out of network for everyone and leave it to the patient/customer to handle insurance reimbursements if applicable.
I’m at a loss for what to do now. I know I have to get it sorted with UHC but idk what to say or do at this point. How do I get reimbursed? Was I not supposed to submit a claim? Should I have gone through a different process and submitted something else? I’ve never had to deal with this kind of situation before and I cannot afford to not be reimbursed. Any tips or help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Nationwide - I’m overwhelmed, help!
I’ve been looking for pet insurance and I’m so overwhelmed. I need help!
I was looking at nationwide since it looked affordable but then I read awful things. I’m hoping someone can give me some recommendations!
I live in Illinois.
8 year old Pomeranian, she had luxating patella (not sure how it’s spelled, but where her knee pops out of place).
7 almost 8 year old dachshund. He doesn’t have any pre-existing conditions!
Edit: THANK YOU for all the responses!
MetLife - MetLife family plan
I put my three dogs on MetLife’s family plan sharing one annual limit and deductible because it was the only company doing it and all the others including Fetch, who I already had, were getting way up there on premiums, especially for my oldest dog.
Started out sharing $10k annual, $250 deductible, 80% reimbursement, around $115/mo. Dogs were 9, 6 and 4 mo.
After one year and no claims MetLife bait and switched me, lowering my deductible to $200 and raising the price by $30. Their other offerings for less were with higher deductibles that didn’t result in anywhere near my original set up in cost. I was ticked off but ended up doing nothing about it. And yes, I know the rates go up as they age.
Renewal came up and they did it again, changing my limit to $10500, lowering my deductible to $150 and raising my premium by $80 to $228/mo!!!
I never put in a claim this whole time!
I work at a vet hospital and get a discount, did have one dog worked up with labs that didn’t meet the deductible so didn’t bother. However, I imagine as far as other carriers are concerned he now has a “pre-existing condition “ even though we didn’t reach a diagnosis other than polydipsia.
So I called MetLife and went through various policy scenarios to see what that dog would be by himself, moving the now 2 1/2 yo to to a different provider and dropping coverage on the now 11 1/2 yo which I hate to do. I ended up keeping everyone covered at $250/80%/$5k for now at $144/months. Makes me nervous as a previous dog took me up to $8500. But this buys me time to decide what to do.
Has anyone here had experience actually putting in claims with MetLife? How were they in honoring claims? Did they yank you around changing coverage and raising premiums substantially at renewal?!
You would think there would be some kind of reward for not needing to submit claims! These tactics are BS!!!
Liberty Mutual - Post cancellation bills?
I’ve been paying 436 a month for a 22 Honda for the last few years, which I haven’t been able to afford, but always managed to pay on time with autopay. I’ve never had a missed bill. My last payment was on February 28th. It came out of my account, and put me deeply in the negative, and then got returned because I had insufficient funds, which has never happened before when bills put me in the negative. I switched over from Liberty Mutual to Geico after that and am only paying 159 a month now. Geico sent Liberty a letter declaring cancellation and demanding returned funds for the rest of my coverage this month that I’m not using- bill was on the 28th, canceled on the 6th of this month I believe. I called Liberty to double check, they claimed they never got the letter, refused to refund anything, set another date to pull that 436 from my account since it got returned previously, and charged me 90 something dollars on top of that, due the 22nd of this month, but didn’t tell me what that added fee was for. I went to my bank and told them to halt autopay for Liberty after that 436 bill, since I do technically owe that outside of any returned funds. They messed up and halted ALL autopay, so the 436 won’t come out, which I didn’t mean to do. The app now, since I’m no longer a customer, will not allow me to manually pay it. Is there any legal or credit ramification for unpaid bills post cancellation?
State Farm - State Farm payment cancelled by provider
Navy federal stated the card info was put in inaccurately but I confirmed it 3 times.
Anyone ever been through this ?
Do I really have to wait for a check in the mail now or can I just retry it after they open tomorrow?
State Farm - Home insurance while in probate
My father died and we are in process of cleaning and getting ready for resale in Illinois. I called State Farm and explained they told me the renewal in October may be subject to non renewal. And said to add a vacancy clause will be very expensive. Should I shop Around now or wait? I am executor. What happens to utilities if house isn’t insured? Someone told me they get turned off.
Nationwide - Nationwide
Well, I guess im late to finding out my coverage dropped from 90% to 50% i had been doing claims due to my dog having multiple TPLO surgeries and find out ny nost recent one only got covered 50%. Pretty annoyed.
My dog is 8 and already is through most of the surgeries but does have a neurological issue.
Im looking to get a new policy somewhere and would love recommendations.
My insurance company - Dirt Bike accident
My son was hanging out with his girlfriend’s family when her dad pulled out a couple of dirt bikes and offered to let them drive around the block on them. No helmets, no licenses, bikes aren’t registered or even road worthy.
My son is 15 with a learners permit. It was 8pm, dark, and the bikes had no headlamps. Long story short, my son ended up running into a car, causing $7K in damages and losing part of a toe in the process.
My insurance company will not cover this because it was outside the scope of the coverage provided for the learners permit. The driver is threatening a lawsuit.
I’m angry at the girlfriend’s father. I would have never allowed him to get on that bike if I had known about it. I knew the consequences if something like this happened. In addition, the father apparently verbally told the driver he would cover the damages but he hasn’t returned my call.
Can the driver sue me? Shouldn’t she just file with her insurance company for uninsured/under insured motorist coverage?
TD Insurance - (Ontario) Does auto insurance cover wheelchairs?
My wife was in a single vehicle collision. Broke her ankle and cannot walk. I am looking into renting her a wheelchair but the TD insurance adjuster is being evasive. Before I go all in on this, I am looking for the opinions of people here.
Would her wheelchair be covered by TD insurance?
