MetLife - Intestate estate still open nearly 3years. Brother won’t sell. What to do?
Greetings everyone. I do but know where to go for help in this. I tried the court but that was useless. There is only one lawyer near us that takes our MetLife legal card. So my dad died augusts 2022. The estate is worth close to a million and there was no will. I tried to qualify as the administrator, but since I had to be bonded, my credit held me back, so my brother was able to qualify. Since then, he has done nothing. Two plots of land were sold for 300,000. It was sold for less than it was worth, but it was too family, and that was important to my dad. No personal items have been sold. There homes are in the country and the homes are full of mice that I’m sure have eaten everything! The cars have been sitting, uncovered the four wheelers the Farm equipment, all of it sitting and rusting. There is a double wide that’s about 15 years old and sits on a gorgeous lot and a three bedroom brick ranch that is still waiting to be sold and all of the personal effects but I cannot get my brother to do anything. He will not return a phone call or a text message. When we try to contact the court, they were of no help we don’t know what to do who returned to or what our rights are and trying to read online. It’s like it’s written in another language. I know this is a long Post, and if anybody has time to give us an idea of how to move forward from here what we can do it would be so appreciated. We are in Virginia if that makes a difference at all thank you in advance so so much.
Progressive - Gap + Auto Insurance, Totaled Car
So the story goes: My friend in Texas totaled his car by hitting a mailbox. He has Gap insurance from the dealership, and auto insurance from progressive.
Auto insurance agent told him they're going to pay the dealership instead of him.
Can friend demand direct payment to himself, as the policyholder? Can his insurance just send the check somewhere else like that?
The gap insurance should handle everything on the dealership side, so I don't know why his insurance company would be giving the dealership anything.
State Farm - Umbrella coverage; SF discontinuing rental property policy
State Farm is discontinuing the policy for my 3-unit multifamily rental property. My umbrella policy is also with State Farm. My agent told me umbrella will cover the rental property if a new policy I find is A-rated (i.e. by AM best, JD power, etc) and underlying liability limit of $500k is purchased. Is it really true that the new policy for my rental property must be an A-rated insurer? What if it is less than an A-rating or not even rated at all? Insurance is insurance, isn't it? It is becoming extremely difficult to find a good, quality top-rated insurer that will write a new policy for rental property (building) that is 70 years old.
Prudential Life Insurance - I need to vent (prudential life insurance)
My stepdad passed away mid march, he told me years ago if anything ever happened to him that he had life insurance. The past week ive been trying to figure out his policy number to get more information regarding all of this. I still don’t know his policy # but now have a claim number and they have emailed a document that I need to sign. In order to access those documents I need a “code” which is the date of birth/date of death, unfortunately the first agent got the date of death wrong so I got locked out, they had to resend it again. Today I finally receive the email again, I STILL cannot access it because they keep putting in the wrong date.
Progressive - "Progressive" filed accident claim without consent, concerned about insurance rate impact
Seeking advice. I had an accident very recently where the other car hit my car while doing improper lane change. Even the police said by seeing the dash cam video of my car that the other person was at fault, I called my insurance company in order to report the accident but they filed it as a claim without confirming with me first. Even though I told them I don't want to use my collision coverage as the accident was not my fault, they still filed a claim without confirming with me first. The claim was closed next day without any pay as they suggested to contact the other person's insurance because I am not at fault. Now I am afraid that this claim will increase my insurance rate from now on, what should I do now? How much it might increase? Is there any way to remove it from the record? Any kind of suggestions will be appreciated.
State Farm - Umbrella policy confusion
Was hoping to get some insight before I call my agent. My $1 Million umbrella policy with State Farm has really gone up this past few years from $300 to over $1500 per year. So I started looking at it and saw the following:
Automobile Liability: $500,000
Recreational Motor Vehicle Liability: $500,000
Personal Residential Liablility: $100,000
Watercraft Liability: $100,000
I don't know what a Recreational Motor Vehicle is. I have 2 cars used for commuting around town. I don't have an RV or Jeep for off-roading. So what good is that doing me?
I don't have a watercraft. I consider watercraft to be a money pit and I'll never own one. I'm in Florida near the water, so maybe it's assumed I have a watercraft? I don't know.
I feel like I'm paying for a bunch of insurance I don't need. Any advice would be appreciated.
Pets Best - Just Joined Pets Best - 40+ day SLA for Claims
Hey Everyone!
I brought home a new kitten on February 14th. We went to our first vet visit on February 15th. I uploaded the documents within a week of our visit and started the claim process the same day, to give my vet time to send their paperwork.
As of today, my claim is still not finished processing. I was told their email system was down and they're now processing claims in the order they came in. I was also told they have a 40+ day SLA to get it done.
Seriously? 40 days to process a "fast" claim? Why advertise speedy processing if you internally have a 40+ day SLA?
End Rant
insurance - Doctor listed as in network, months later is in network the follow month of visit
2024 I met my deductible for the first time so I decided to see a sleep doctor. Found the doctor through my insurance portal as in network. Went to my visit, no payment as my insurance is accepted. A few months later I was billed as out of network. I call the doctors billing office and they assure me they are in network, they will resubmit to insurance. I get another bill, doctors billing department reassures me that they are in network, resubmits. Now in 2025 insurance and doctors office confirm that the doctor only became in network for my particular plan 10/1/2024 and my two appointments were in September 2024. Very suspicious.
Is there anything I can do to get out of paying? Everybody was on the same page so I am not sure what happened? I suspect the doctor forgot to renew with my plan and so it went into effect the following month of my visit?
insurance company Y - accident covered by non-insurance company?
Two weeks ago, I got rear-ended by a commercial truck owned by a logistics company, X.
I originally filed the claim through their insurance company, Y (as listed on the driver information exchange).
A few days later, insurance company Y told me that company X would cover the accident and gave me a claim number with X.
I can only get in touch with X by email (which has very slow correspondence), and their phone line is always busy. After I sent them all the information they requested, the only response I got was that they are "reviewing" the case and will discuss it after that—without mentioning how long it will take. Since they are not an insurance company, I assume they don’t handle claims in the standard way.
Now it's been more than two weeks, and I still have no idea how they plan to address this.
Are there any legal requirements for how soon they need to respond and resolve the issue? (I do not want to go through my own insurance and pay out of pocket.)
What actions can I take to push them to make progress on this?
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!
USAA - When should I cancel my auto insurance?
I’ve been with USAA all my driving life and I’ve grown fed up with the high prices. So I’m switching to Erie and it goes active on the 28th. My USAA bill is due the 31st so when would be the best day to cancel? I’m not sure if I should call tomorrow or call them on the 27th. This is the first time I’ve ever switched insurances like this.
