Embrace - They're great until you really need them
They're customer service is great! They've never denied a claim. So far good right? Our dog got a cancer diagnosis. The claims got pretty expensive. We ate up about all the the $5000 coverage. So this year our rate went up to $6474.21. Than means to get $5000 coverage we have to spend the $500 deductible plus our 20% portion ,$1000, plus $6474.21. Full coverage from Embrace will cost us $7974.21!
Response to Embrace's reply.
I'm not going to go over all of the numbers. Every option I was given, increase the deductible, lower the percentage Embrace would cover or both. The bottom line is the cost of coverage will be well over $1000 more than paying for our dogs medical expenses.
With that said, I realize Embrace is not in the charity business. I do feel in this case that honesty is the best policy here. Saying it makes no economic sense for me to continue using Embrace. The expense would be far greater than the coverage is worth.
MetLife - Horrible experience not just once but twice
MetLife pet insurance is a scam. I first had them in march of 2024 and filed my first claim taking my dog to check for ear infection but got denied because in Feb 2023 when spayed vet checked ears and needed cleaning wasn’t treated for infection in Feb but because had vet checked ears that was considered pre existing issue. I canceled policy however in August I signed back up . In April 2025 I took dog in the have ears checked and no infection just gave wash for ears but guess what it got denied saying pre existing condition dates back to 2024. I will never do business with MetLife and I suggest to anyone find another provider who cares and doesn’t deny for something that wasn’t diagnosed and then to deny a year later saying pre existing. Dogs get things like humans do we get ear infections etc but we don’t get denied by our insurance for something that wasn’t diagnosed a year ago as pre existing. Beware as I spoke to both representative and manager who told me I had to go through this appeal process and have my vet also write something. They are not helpful and manager I spoke to Dianna shouldn’t be a manager. I’m going with another provider who will care about my dog and the fact that I pay my bill monthly. Companies like met life shouldn’t be in pet insurance

Embrace - I cannot endorse Embrace Pet Insurance…
I cannot endorse Embrace Pet Insurance unless you enroll your pet immediately after birth. Any health issues your pet had before enrollment are considered pre-existing conditions. For instance, my dog had an ear infection a few years ago, so any future ear-related issues aren't covered. He also had diarrhea once, which counts as a pre-existing condition. Additionally, he needed to have a tooth extracted, meaning dental work is not covered. Two years ago, my dog exhibited signs of a potential seizure before I had pet insurance, but he was never officially diagnosed, so it was never confirmed. Fast forward to now, my dog experienced multiple seizures one night, and it required an emergency vet visit. When I submitted a claim, it was denied due to pre-existing conditions, meaning the ER visit and any necessary future medications will not be covered. I understand their perspective, although I disagree with it. I wish it had been clearly communicated when I signed up that his policy would essentially provide no coverage. Had I known, I would not have purchased the policy at that time. I feel deceived and betrayed. I cannot recommend Embrace Pet Insurance because, when I needed them, they were not there for me.
Embrace - Embrace raised my rates significantly…
Embrace raised my rates significantly even though I had no claims the past year. I spoke with the Embrace representative about this rate increase and they could not/would not do anything. While the customer service was great, I decided to go to another company.
Embrace - Tried to cancel 4 months ago and still…
Tried to cancel 4 months ago and still getting charged over $500 a month. I've lost over $2,000 that I can't afford to lose. They're pricing jumped $300 from the year before. There are other pet insurance companies out there that are more affordable and offer the same as Embrace. Do your research before choosing this company.
Trupanion - Wishy washy reasons when you are making a claim
They make it so difficult to make a claim! And, it was not even a big amount, $123, and it was the second time I made a claim. The claim did not even reach the deductible yet. It's been almost a month since I put my claim in. And, they kept saying my vet did not send them my dog's records, but when I called my vet, they have already sent them everything a couple of weeks ago! I have two dogs with them, and paid high premium. I called them, and they gave me a run around each time. Worse customer service ever. Thinking of terminating our policies and go with other companies!
Embrace - Tried to say diarrhea from a year prior…
Tried to say diarrhea from a year prior from a flu bug was a pre-existing condition so then anything where the stomach was involved (basically any virus has diarrhea!) wouldn’t be covered! So when I ended up in the ER a year later from my dog ingesting something that caused him to vomit and have diarrhea, they wouldn’t cover any of it saying it was pre-existing!!! Waste of money! I’ve had plenty of dog insurances over the years and this one is truly the worst
Embrace - 10 Years of Loyalty Betrayed – Premium Raised to $500/Month
After paying into this pet insurance for a decade, I was shocked when they raised my monthly premium to $500 for my 15-year-old dog—who, by the way, is still healthy, active, and has no major medical conditions. She walks regularly, jumps on the bed, and has only minor joint stiffness.
This price increase wasn’t based on her health but on cold, statistical assumptions about senior dogs. It’s clear they’re happy to collect your money while your pet is young, but when the risk of paying out increases, they’ll price you out. It’s manipulative, unethical, and shameful.
I canceled and found a new plan with solid coverage for half the cost. This company does not stand by its customers or their pets. Avoid at all costs.
