Pumpkin - Horrible coverage and a scam
They considered everything preexisting despite a detailed letter and explanation from our vet. Unbelievable waste of money, they pretend to care about you and your pet but they will scam you.

Embrace - Difficulty finding diagnosis
I had two claims to submit. The first one was simple and I would rate the proccess a 5 star. The second invoice was more difficult because I was unable to find the diagnosis in the drop down menu. It then states if you can't find the diagnosis put it in the description box. When I tried to submit it said unable to process the claim. So I picked one from the drop down menu that was the closest and included the description of the diagnosis in the box. I was able to submit it but unsure if it will be processed. I will wait and see.
Trupanion Canada - stay away from this insurance
I have been with this insurance for two years. I made 3 claims , 3 of them which i paid from my own pocket because my deductible was 200$ and they myst get sick more than once and then you are fully covered as long you pass that 200$ deductible. there is an increase in price i started 2 years ago at 40$ now i am at 78$. they will not listen to your concerns or any request. They will have any excuses or an argument for a price increase. In my case they said vet cost through the year and that is depends on the amount of dogs of the same breed in my area who goes to the vet. I just spoke to the receptionist at the vet when I picked nexguard for my dog she said that is just an excuse for them to raise the price,
they say unlimited but there is a catch STAY AWAY FROM TRUPANION LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
Fetch Canada - Cannot trust this company.
I cancelled my policy in January 2025 through email. Fetch acknowledged my request then continued to take the money from my account for 3 months. They refuse to give my money back and are ignoring my communications.

I am sorry to have changed insurance from Nationwide. The claim process is cumbersome and they keep asking me to contact my vet for my 3 dogs history, something they should have done last year. I strongly advice pet owners to avoid this company…
Nationwide - Unexpected coverage drop
My coverage was dropped 40% due to "discontinuing my current plan" that I have had for years. I was told the plan had subscribed to didn't exist anymore and I couldn't be grandfathered in and no other plans existed unless I cancelled and reapplied in which I would be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions. I did add another dog to my plan before I found this out, and she is on a different plan with 30% more coverage than my dog, who was just dropped by 40% coverage. So another plan does exist, but I'm not eligible for it even though it's still less than the plan I was on for years. I used to recommend Nationwide to all of my animal contacts and through my network of training, rescue, adoption, Veterinary, grooming and shelter clients.
Embrace - 150% premium increase without old policy
I used to suggest Embrace to all my friends. Not anymore. They’ve increased my premium from roughly $760 per year for two cats ( 1k deductible, 90% with 15k max payout) to $2000 per year. My cat’s age one is 7 the other is 8.
Inflation is their only reason. I can only lower my deductible %.
I have no choice but try to keep up. This pet premium is the least payout and its even more than my mortgage insurance per year. I am stuck here. If I switch or up my plan all previous claim will become pre existing condition. This is unethical.
On the other hand I do love their customer service but this is unbelievable.
