Embrace - Do NOT trust this company
Do NOT trust this company, they weaponize their vague and overreaching contract language in order to deny claims as “preexisting conditions”. They deem one time SYMPTOMS like vomiting and diarrhea as related to ANY future conditions that cause those EXTREMELY common symptoms… ie say your puppy vomited from a food change 9 months before developing acute gastritis that needed treatment, Embrace will claim that the gastritis (or any similar illness that can cause vomiting) is related to a single vomiting or diarrhea episode that occurred up to an entire year prior to the new treatment date, even if the initial episode was completely unrelated or not linked to any condition at all, and even though both are SYMPTOMS of NUMEROUS different conditions and not illnesses in and of themselves, their philosophy is “well you can’t PROVE it’s not related”. Trust me, stay away from Embrace, they are a wholly predatory company. Spot and Pets Best are MUCH better. Also beware, they have a bad habit of using people related to the company in some way to write positive reviews, they are as dirty a company as it gets… you’ve been warned.
Embrace - Will nickel and dime you against the deductible.
If my vet prescribes it, they should cover it. One of the medications my vet prescribed had significant neurological side effects. We discontinued it immediately. The vet sold us a different medication, that is apparently not recommended by the FDA but allowed him to recover. So the choice was continue with the FDA approved meds making my dog very sick, or give nothing and hope for a miracle, or give something that actually works but is not FDA approved.
My dog also would not eat anything. We tried everything. The vet sold us a few cans of a prescription diet so we could get him eat until he felt better. Disallowed... of course.
I'm curious what vet on the Embrace staff made the decision to disallow a portion of my claim, or was it just some person in a cubicle with no medical knowledge. Do I trust Embrace, not entirely. We will very likely change insurance for our next dog.
Spot - I paid 149 to 191 dollars a month for…
I paid 149 to 191 dollars a month for insurance never had a claim than my dog need surgery for this throat the bill was 6,661 l thought that l would get 70% of the bill and you paid me 3,000 telling me i reached my limit.
The amount of money I paid for insurance you should have covered the 70%, I will never tell anyone to get your insurance you are a rid off oh I almost forgot I was told l could not file a claim for 1 years but still pay the monthly premium bye bye
Nationwide - Relationship with company absolutely ruined!
On behalf of my family: 10+ years of using their services can be erased by one piece of paper mail that you never received stating that they would stop the specific coverage/plan type in your state. No email, no messages on our account, just a sudden "expired" in the middle of the only medical emergency my cat has ever had. And now, they are denying total and any coverage of her because they now consider her medical emergency to be "pre-existing" when they made me reapply as if I were an entirely new customer, despite having my entire old record showing that this only began occurring in the last two months! No option to grandfather in, no sympathy, no accountability for the lack of communication! So now I have no coverage at all. 8 pets and over a decade of loyalty to this company were completely erased by their inability to send anything more than a piece of snail mail to notify me of these changes, even though I had signed up to be paperless!! Completely unacceptable in this day and age of technology, and how untrustworthy and backhanded of a company to treat their long-time customers this way.
Embrace - Technological difficulties
Lately the app and on the website, submitting a claim was has been difficult. The app froze every time I tried to choose the hospital. The same thing happened just now on the website.
Pets Best - Terrible Insurance
Began my dogs insurance 3 months prior to the incident happening. Was told because she had seasonal allergies 4 years ago they would not approve her claim for antibiotics on her hotspot.. it took almost 2 months to get a response regarding this claim…highly recommend saving yourself stress and time and not going with Pets Best.
Nationwide - Do NOT insure with Nationwide
Do NOT insure with Nationwide Pet Insurance!! Thousands of cancelations for no reasons. Cannot trust this insurance company for ANY type of insurance. BEWARE!!!
Trupanion - Avoid! They deny everything based on…
They deny everything based on geralizatjons and diagnosis from themselves and not what doctors say. My dog had a puppy scratch on her belly and they said it was allegies even though my vet didn’t. Then they proceeded to deny anything she has ever had because it shares potential symptoms with allergies.
Then there is the “we don’t raise prices based on age or claims” but then they will go and raise it every single year. I have had my dog for 5 years and each year it has gone up 20-40 %. It started at $75. Now it is up to 170 a month.
This company is a scam. Avoid at all costs.
They say to contact them and they will check in on it but I have spent hours and countless emails and it doesn’t do anything. I’m cancelling this month and warn you not to enroll.
Nationwide - Not sure why I had to pay for 2 months…
Not sure why I had to pay for 2 months up front. Didn't have to do that the last time since the premium is automatic withdrawn from my paycheck.
Embrace - Professional dysfunction.
This company refuses to inform clients on internal changes. For example why do they have a different payment processing center with a different name and not send out an email saying: “Hey, so and so will appear on your next banking statement.” I am currently looking for another insurance company.
Any good ones?
