Healthy Paws - Astronomical increase in premium
We have had Healthy Paws insurance for our pooch for more than 8 years. Lately the premiums have increased astronomically year to year, with the most recent one going form $141 a month to over $450. This is completely ridiculous. We have had no issues with payment of claims and they say the increase isn't related to claims filed - but they make it impossible to continue coverage with them. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Healthy Paws - Highly Unethical Behavior
Same feedback as other reviewers recently.
I have had my pet with this insurance company for 9+ years. Over that time, I have taken him in only twice for minor incidents that I had bills of less than $300 each.
He just turned 11 and his insurance has gone from $65 a month to $160 a month. From what I see other reviews, I fully expect it to go up to $500 next year. This means that they are purposely trying to kick people off of their insurance as your pup ages which is at least unethical if not down-right illegal.
Please research other providers before using this company.
Spot - I Strongly Advise Against Spot Pet Insurance
Unfortunately, my experience with Spot Insurance was deeply disappointing. After insuring my cats, Gwendolyn and Wessley, and submitting multiple claims for each, all were denied with explanations that felt dismissive and inconsistent. Despite my appeal and supporting documentation, their resolution process felt more like a formality than a genuine review.
Customer service was polite but ultimately unhelpful, and the outcome left me with little trust in the company's integrity. I’ve since canceled my policy and will not be insuring any of my pets with Spot again. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for pet insurance that’s fair, transparent, and dependable.
Embrace - WORST COMPANY IN THE WORLD …
They deny everything and request paperwork 6 or 7 times before they ever accept....THE ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY I'VE EVER DELT WITH....
Healthy Paws - Beware: Bait-and-Switch Pricing That Betrays Loyal Pet Parents
I’ve had Healthy Paws insurance since adopting my girl at age 1. Back then, I was paying around $40/month. Over the years, despite never meeting my deductible and having a perfectly healthy pup, my premiums steadily rose—eventually reaching $93.25. I stayed with them because I believed the rhetoric that early enrollment protected me from age-based price hikes, and I knew it would be difficult to get new coverage as she got older.
Yesterday, I received notice that my monthly premium is jumping to $236.81 in just two months. That’s a 254% increase from what I’m paying now—and nearly a 600% increase from when I started. For the exact same dog. With zero claims.
I feel blindsided and betrayed. This is not just inflation or rising vet costs—this is a textbook bait-and-switch. Healthy Paws markets itself as different, claiming their premium increases are based on broader trends, not your individual pet’s age. But that’s clearly not true.
Only now did I learn there was a class action lawsuit filed over this very issue. I wish I’d known sooner—but the damage is done. After years of faithfully paying premiums just to preserve coverage for my aging pup, I now can’t afford the care she might need because the rug has been pulled out from under me. It’s heartbreaking.
Healthy Paws built its brand on compassion and transparency. This is neither. If you’re thinking of signing up, read recent reviews. This story isn’t unique—just buried until it’s too late.
Nationwide - Just new to it
Just new to it, how am i gonna give it a review?
I guess the online enrollment is clear and easy to understand, price it little higher compared apples to apples. I haven't used it and hoping not to use it but just for little wellness stuff.
Nationwide - NATIONWIDE IS AWFUL AND CUSTOMER SERVICE NON EXISTENT
I was set up for automatic payment on our two pets along with paperless notification. My payment method (credit card) had to be closed for fraud and I did not remember it was being used for the monthly payments. I have never missed a payment. AND I never received an email notification or text from Nationwide saying to pay or your policy will lapse!!! No one to talk to or do anything about this. All I could do was get a new policy which obviously puts my pets at risk after being covered for SO LONG with Nationwide. I’m pissed. So now anything that was found with my dogs during the previous coverage is no longer covered because it’s considered a pre-existing condition?? I hate your company…..
Nationwide - Website and sign up easy to use
Easy to sign up, difficult to renew. Three stars because they decided not to renew my policy and didn't give me a way to switch to another plan
Pets Best - Ms
My dog is diabetic and must wear a Libre 2 plus monitoring disc for her glucose readings. She must also eat a special dog food for diabetics to control her glucose spikes. Pets best denies both of these as part of the treatment and will not help cover the cost
Embrace - Disapointment and Waste of Money
I’ve had Embrace Pet Insurance since 2022, paying monthly with the expectation of peace of mind if my pet ever needed care. Unfortunately, when I finally needed to file my first claim, it was denied—despite having active coverage for over two years. To make matters worse, my monthly premium nearly doubled recently, and the only explanation I received was that it “reflects rising veterinary costs.” Meanwhile, I received no added benefits or improvements in coverage.
It’s incredibly frustrating to be a loyal, paying customer for years only to be denied support the first time I actually need it. Pet insurance is supposed to provide security and reduce financial stress, not add to it.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Embrace. If you're looking for an insurer that actually supports you when it matters, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.
