MetLife - Compared to other Pet insurance
Compared to other Pet insurance, it takes you folks way too long to process a claim. But I am very thankful for the coverage that your pet policy covers, including prescription and supplement medication recommended by my vet veterinarian.
Nationwide - I am distraught with Nationwide pet…
I am distraught with Nationwide pet insurance, as the one time I needed them to cover a surgery in 8 years of having a policy, they are denying it. I have carried Nationwide pet insurance since my yellow Lab, Beau, was a puppy. I have major medical and have had very few claims over the past 8 years. Beau had a mass on his leg and the the needle biopsy was inconclusive to our Vet. She said it could be a joint cyst or joint sarcoma and referred me to a surgical vet specialist. The Specialist wanted to get the mass off right away and send it to pathology. the surgery was $3400. Nationwide will not pay for the surgery, stating that they have already paid the amount allowed for a synovial cyst. Both my vet and the surgeon have reached out to them to tell them they were not certain it was a cyst, but they still denied the claim. Basically, Beau would have had to have cancer for them to cover the surgery to remove it. It is not worth paying monthly for this insurance if they won't cover the high cost of surgery when it is clearly needed and part of major medical
Trupanion - Trupanion’s Arrogance Knows No Bounds
Trupanion’s arrogance knows no bounds. When questioned about a 33% premium increase, only boilerplate messages about increased regional costs were given. When asked for documentation about how such an increase was determined, more boilerplate messaging about this being proprietary information was offered. Surely Trupanion can do better than this.
Embrace - System continues to kick you out when…
System continues to kick you out when submitting a claim. We are tested to find a loop in the system to get it to work.
Nationwide - Run! Don't Walk!
When I purchased this policy, I was told that my pet did not have any pre-existing conditions. After I filed the claim, I was told that the treatment she received was for a pre-existing condition. Furthermore, before the policy was purchased, 6 months of records were requested. I had not had this dog for 6 months, so I provided the records that I did have. Again, no pre-existing conditions were discovered. I summitted the claim for her recent visit. Now, 24 months of records were requested, suddenly she has a pre-existing condition. (Mind you, the same records were submitted, as the initial request prior to the policy's purchase). Please do yourself a favor and find yourself a decent insurance company for your pet. I plan to report this to the Better Business, The PA Bureau of Consumer Protection, as well as my attorney. I will share my experience on every electronic review site, social media platform possible, and I encourage you to do the same.
In addition to this, I was also denied access to a live agent by their automated phone system, which disconnected me 3x for it's inability to "understand" the information I provided.
MetLife - Atrocious Claim Processing
Even though Met Life has all of my dog's medical records since 2018, they routinely take 4 -5 weeks to process claims, even on simple ones for routine medication. Avoid them at all costs! Unfortunately, I am stuck with them because my dog was recently diagnosed with a heart murmur and subsequent heart disease. So, it would be impossible to switch to another company as this would now be a preexisting condition.
Fetch - All the company did was change its…
All the company did was change its name, lower benefits, and RAISE prices. They were bought out by a huge, greedy corporation. I constantly receive "upsell" offers of junk.
Fetch Canada - If you are in Canada DO NOT BUY THIS…
If you are in Canada DO NOT BUY THIS INSURANCE! My Bill is never the same, they charge in U.S. dollars and convert to Canadian so that "rate" you are quoted is BS. Also, (at least from Canada) I could not see a breakdown of my Bill, I just had to "trust" that everything was okay. Some months my Bill would be $90, others it would be $120. I also was Never given a copy of my agreement.
Don't do it!
Healthy Paws - BEWARE: Premiums Skyrocket Over Time — They Don't Want Long-Term Customers
I just canceled my Healthy Paws policy after watching my monthly premium increase by over 500% in just 4 years. When I first signed up, the price was reasonable, and I genuinely believed I was protecting my dog long-term. But every single year, the premium jumped significantly — without any major claims on my end.
They’ll tell you it’s because “more pet parents are using their policies in your area,” but I’ve lived in both rural Colorado and now Oregon, and the excuse is always the same. The truth is: they don't want long-term customers.
The younger your pup is, the cheaper the policy — but once your dog starts aging (especially around 6 years old), be prepared for your monthly cost to become outrageous and unsustainable. It's clear that Healthy Paws is focused on maximizing profit from healthy young pets while pushing out responsible pet owners who might actually use the insurance when it matters.
It’s disappointing and greedy. This is not a company that supports loyal, long-term customers.
Trupanion - Company isn't transparent …
Company isn't transparent about deductable and coverages. I had a $3000 mouth surgery bill, they paid $900.
