Spot - Pet insurance
Horrible customer service after filed a claim for ear infection. They requested pets records from Vet. Sent them. Claim denied for pets vet records same as had been sent. This happened 3 more times with me going to vets office last time with claims dept. on speaker phone with vet office clerk. Denied again. This time because of said it was pre existing. Pet had a allergy rash on leg in the past! My recommendation with Spot is Stay Away! Swithed to them from insuror to add another pet. Big mistake! You get what you pay for. I would think they spend most of their internal money on researching how to connect any past illness to being pre-existing to save them money. Of course I have canceled. Never Spot again.
Embrace - A great deal of difficulty logging in
A great deal of difficulty logging in. I tried several times before I was able to successfully log in.
Secondly, this form doesn't allow for submission of a claim "Exam/Consultation Well Patient" (as my vet called it) or routine shots.
Figo - Not even close to human insurance
The reason I want to cancel my pets insurance because I don’t think Figo is suitable and helpful for our pets at all. Compare to my monthly payment your reimbursement for our vet bill is ridiculously low. I have been paying $ 123.87 per month my pets insurance which is 90% reimbursement plan for many years. For Lucy $ 47.49/ month x 1 year = 569.88 For Sima $ 76.38/ month x 1 year = 916.56 It is $1486.44 per year. What has Figo been reimbursed me back for annual check up, vaccine, medications and also illness? For annual check up and vaccination, $ 40 for each pet while the bill was around $ 200 for each. Recently Lucy had an emergency vet visit for urinary infection, the bill was $410. I filed a claim. Figo agent asked for records to check if it was preexisting condition. Figo gave me back $ 67.38. Figo reimbursement is a joke, matter of fact it’s more like a scam to me. This is a waste of time and money. I could have saved the monthly payment and paid for my pets bills without frustrating. I have learned my lesson.
MetLife - I called for help on an issue and was…not dealt with
I called for help on an issue and was told I'd receive a call back the next day. That was a week ago and I'm still waiting.
Fetch - Refusal of medical documents sent claimed denied
Paid the quarterly cost for fetch. Sent in documents for treatment received within two years. Emails confirm documents received. Submitted a claim. Refused for not getting the documentation which has been sent.Unhappy with Fetch.
Pets Best - Dangerously misleading information on their website under FAQs
"You can change your policy and premium by making adjustments to your deductible, reimbursement percentage, policy limit, supplemental benefits at any time, and routine care coverage (at policy renewal)." That statement is not true nor does it direct policyholders to review a specific section of the policy dealing with changes to insurance at renewal. In truth, policyholders can only downgrade supplemental coverage -- it cannot be added back into a policy once removed and that includes take-home meds. REALLY, REALLY BIG DEAL. The statement I copied and pasted directly from PetsBest's FAQs on their website led me to cancel supplemental coverage for my dog in last year's renewal as I thought I would be able to reinstate them the next year if necessary. No. Once removed, you cannot add supplemental coverage as confirmed with PetsBest today. That is a big deal. My dog now has Cushings and I will very likely have to put him down because I can't afford $200/month in medication. PetsBest is misleading their policyholders by putting statements like that on their FAQs with no direction to review particular sections of the policy. It should either be very clear that you cannot add coverage like that back in or it should not be in the FAQs to begin with. It is, in my opinion, an intentionally misleading and very harmful statement.
MetLife - Not good for kitten vaccines
MetLife with preventative care only covers like 1 or 2 vaccines for a brand new kitten when in reality, the kitten needs numerous vaccines and boosters. This is ridiculous.
Nationwide - Left in the dark over pet insurance
Put in for this insurance about 2 weeks ago for cat... Haven't heard back since. But they did take my money. Haven't even gotten policy in mail yet ...
Trupanion - How did you come up with Diarrhea?
I’ve just filed a claim for my kitty that’s been having episodes of blood in his poop again which I’ve observed to happen mostly when he gets anxious. I took him to the Vet for his wellness check and further investigation of the above issue and a stool exam was ordered. I submitted a copy of the paid invoice to Trupanion and for some reason they came up with a diagnosis of Diarrhea and I really don’t know where they got that from. Since it’s a new diagnosis as per their underwriting, I have to start paying a new deductible again. They turned a blind eye on the actual issue of Anxiety, maybe because the deductible for that condition has been met. Now they want me to file an appeal for their own mistakes. It’s the same issue everytime I file a claim. It always ends up with filing an appeal because of their mistakes. And to top it all, Trupanion is again increasing my monthly payment from $66 to $98 because they said the average cost and use of vet services in my area has increased. The insurance payments for my cat started at $37 when he was a kitten and has increased yearly for these 4years. Is it really the same for everybody else?
Figo - I just signed up today
I just signed up today. There was a monthly fee quoted, which I am fine with. However, when I submitted my first payment, there was an additional $15 "enrollment fee" added. I didn't see anything on the website that indicated that there was going to be an additional fee charged. If this fee had been clearly listed, I wouldn't have had an issue. But tacking on an additional fee is dishonest. FIGO refused to credit this fee back to me. I'm considering canceling my enrollment, since I no longer have confidence in FIGO's honesty.
