Spot - For some reason agents kept telling me…
For some reason agents kept telling me hadn't received my claims for almost 2 weeks. Then in same day 1 agent said had and another said hadn't received
Nationwide - I haven’t gotten any information about…
I haven’t gotten any information about my pet since I’ve submitted the paperwork.
Healthy Paws - Healthy Paws suddenly increased my rates exhorbitantly!
I have been a faithful customer of Healthy Paws singing their praises since 2017, starting at $50 a month for a 2 yr old dog. Each year they raised my premium until it is now $183 a month, even though I only filed a couple of small claims each year and they do not cover vet exam fees. Now all of a sudden they increased my rate to $467 a month which is a 255% rate increase. When questioning customer service why, it was obvious they no longer cared about me. I was told to do $1000 deductible at 50% reimbursement, but my premium would still be almost double what I am paying now and with a $1000 deductible I would never be able to use the insurance. NOT ACCEPTABLE!
They claim it is because vets have raised their prices so much in California that the company is not sustainable. Strange because my two vets have not raised their rates for over 4 years and if that were the case why are other insurance companies charging a lot less? Wouldn't they not be sustainable either if that were the facts? My online research shows they had to pay out approximately $4.6M to customers for a class action suit they lost a few years ago in another state. Could this be the reason?
I faithfully paid all my premiums for eight years on time and hardly filed any claims. Now I am forced to shop for insurance with pre-existing conditions like allergies or arthiritis which is totally unfair business practice. Be aware! They could get rid of you too, by raising your premium exhorbitantly when your dog reaches a certain age. Read ALL the reviews before signing up because it appears I am not alone.
MetLife - I really appreciate the flexibility in…
I really appreciate the flexibility in creating a custom plan. The reimbursement is comparable to other similar per insurance companies. My review of 3/5 stars comes mainly from the reimbursement process. It’s unclear what exact documents are required for reimbursement, and almost every time I have to go back in to figure out what is needed. It’s not an easy or intuitive process. It’s very frustrating to get a delay each time, especially when waiting for a significant amount of money to be reimbursed.
Healthy Paws - Buyer beware with Healthy Paws, skyrocket rates in no time
I’ve been a loyal Healthy Paws customer since we brought our puppy home 10 years ago. In all that time, I never missed a payment and only submitted a single claim—for under $500. I expected premiums to increase gradually with age, and over the years they rose to $105/month. Reasonable enough—until this month.
Imagine my shock when I received a new monthly bill for $325—a nearly 200% increase overnight.
Thinking it was a mistake, I tried to reach their customer service. It took two days and four hours of navigating their phone tree before I could finally speak to a real person. I was told the price hike was due to changes in underwriters and my dog’s age. No notice. No warning. Just a staggering increase.
When I expressed my concern, their solution was laughable: I could reduce the monthly cost if I agreed to a $1,000 deductible and only 50% reimbursement on future claims. In other words, I’d be paying hundreds each month for a policy that would be nearly useless in a real emergency.
Pet insurance is important. But if you're shopping for coverage, do your research and seriously consider other providers before choosing Healthy Paws. What started as a trustworthy company has become, in my experience, anything but.
Nationwide - Misleading discount on multiple pets, never got discount…
When I chose this through my medical insurance carrier ad, it said discount on more than one dog but I didn’t get any discount so I feel like that’s false advertising
MetLife - Horrible
I should have learned my lesson from my previous experience with MetLife pet insurance. They are horrible to work with. They take forever to reimburse for a claim. Your premium is always going up. They make excuses as to why something isn’t covered. Just a horrible company to have pet insurance through.
Fetch - I would put zero star if I could
I would put zero star if I could. I submit a claim a year ago in august , and still did not get a check . did not get any value for my yearly insurance will cancel for next year
Embrace - I have submitted my pet's records…
I have submitted my pet's records multiple times to Embrace and so has my vet. I keep getting messages that I have to resend them and that my claims are on hold until my vet and myself resubmit the invoices. I have met other people that have Embrace and they never had this issue. My vet clinic is surprised also, as they submit many claims to them as well.
