Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.

Horrible issue when a pet passed and I was overcharged
Rate increased without any notice
Figo - Good luck getting them to pay a claim
Good luck getting them to pay a claim! I've spent a lot of time on the phone with them, just to have them deny an $1100 claim the should be covered. They claim it was pre-existing. They started contacting vets that we haven't been to in 5 years to come up with a way to deny the claim. They even completely overlooked the enlarged heart and heart murmur. My best advise is to avoid the hassle and steer clear on them.
Trupanion - they are very exspensive

MetLife - Length of time to have claim worked is…
Length of time to have claim worked is much longer than what is quoted on the website when submitting a claim. I have had to wait sometimes 3+ weeks to have them worked completely.
Healthy Paws - Do NOT choose this insurance.
Substantial increases with no explanation, denying coverage claiming "pre-existing" conditions when that was not the case.
When I first obtained insurance for my dog, it was only $45 per month. I got the highest coverage at 90%. Now, it has increased to $170 per month. No explanation of why. No option to respond. Within the "waiting period" of initially getting the insurance, she ended up with an ear infection. Now ANYTHING ear-related is not covered, and unfortunately she gets frequent ear infections. I was happy with the ease of the app for a long time, which I do appreciate because it makes claims easy to file, but the increase in prices is unjustified and now they have been denying claims they should be covering - even after I email back with additional details and explanations. They claimed an infection in her paw from a friend's pool was considered "pre-existing" when it happened two weeks prior. The company was good a few years ago, but I would never recommend it now. They should be reviewed by the Better Business Bureau.
Nationwide - Very good
This pet ins is good i have had it before and i do like it for my pet.
MetLife - The claims process can be overly…
The claims process can be overly complicated. I submit claims and add info as requested "add to existing claim" but it often generates a new claim
And then I have to call in. I've also experienced clearly coded covered procedures that get denied. Then I have to call in. I've had this insurance my dogs entire life (11 years) and only ever used it this year. The process should be improved to require less from me. After a decade of premiums and no claims, I expect better.
Nationwide - I wish underwriting was faster
I wish underwriting was faster. Once complete and we have our first appointment I can see how I like the coverage.
MetLife - Claims Mixed Up
Getting claims mixed up between my dogs, taking a while to get reimbursement, asking me to answer questions way beyond the need to prove I was correct to submit a claim for reimbursement. Your claims page is too confusing - and your emails regarding a claim has been approved should name the dog and their policy number.
Embrace - Read the fine print !
We have 4 dogs, who rarely get sick, are not exposed to dog parks.
Our youngest pet was placed on insurance the day she was adopted.
The bill we incurred was over $5000.00 We paid 100%. Embrace asked for medical history starting on January 1, 2025. The puppy was not BORN until April 1, 2025 so how could there be a medical record?
The claim for severe abdominal problem was denied in part because she had motion sickness during exclusion period. BS.
