Have an issue with your insurance?
Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.
Trupanion - Not worth the money
Half of my healthy 1 year old dog's body systems are not covered because she burped a few times as a puppy. Because occasional burping was noted in her medical record, ALL gastrointestinal and respiratory concerns will not covered for the entirety of her life. Insurance companies will nitpick for any opportunity possible to deny coverage; care of the pet and client is never a concern. As a veterinary professional, I am extremely disappointed in Trupanion.
Lemonade - As with all insurance companies
As with all insurance companies, Lemonade is dropping my home in California even though my policy doesn’t expire till November. They stated they would cover all but fire and to use the fair plan from California. When I researched this, I asked them what my policy would now cost me without fire. They responded back that they won’t cover me at all, after stating they would. It’s just about the dollar to them. I would never use them again, even as I am planning on moving. I suggest you move on from them.
Pawp - Has tons of potential
This was free with Walmart plus membership. It has so much potential but really lacks a lot. A telehealth platform for pets is a great idea whether it's free or there's a small fee. Pawp is free but in my state they cannot dispense prescriptions...so I ask "why bother??!" The point, in my opinion , is to save a vet visit fee and just have to pay for a script. A fine service if it were designed that way. So in order to get money they recommend and provide links of pet items you can use from Walmart...or their emergency insurance , which "no thank you, I'm not a circus performer, and jumping thru any hoops" for that offer ....I'm okay with pushing Walmart pet items if thats in conjunction with vet service that includes a prescription.
Pet Insurance - Was hard to confirm if I was approved…
Was hard to confirm if I was approved or denied for insurance.
Embrace Pet Insurance - Rudeness/ the cost upfront
When I first called in and a gentleman answered, I asked them was there anyway that he could waive the $25 for the first time he told me no didn’t even explain why he was snippy and the fact that you have to spend $25 is absolutely ridiculous so I’m going to be canceling And I found another company that would wave the set up fee for me and they are a lot nicer. The only reason I was asking is because I’m fighting cancer and that alone is expensive.
Trupanion - Really Terrible Customer Service...
We were Trupanion customers for 8 years and paid thousands of dollars without ever making a claim. However, when our credit card expired (as they do, after 8 years!!) and we missed a few payments they cancelled our $155 monthly plan and wanted 2.5x more ($380/mo) to reactivate it! To their credit, they did a good job trying to reach out before the cancellation, but unfortunately the email on file was also outdated. When I contacted customer service their "hands were tied" and the reps had no ability to customize my new quote to match my old payment. I would have been okay with a small rise in payment as I didn't catch the lack of payment fast enough, but a 250% increase is just insane.
Spot Pet Insurance - I though i was going to get $900 back…
I though i was going to get $900 back but only got $700
Lemonade - Lemonade will find a way to deny your claim
My dog hit his head hard enough on the windshield of the car to break it. I called an emergency vet and Lemonade's own online vet service (through Chewy) to see if I should take him to a vet. They both said yes. I specifically asked the vet I texted with through Lemonade if this would be covered. She said it would be because my plan covered accidents and illnesses. This seems like the definition of an accident to both of us. Lemonade denied the claim saying I had not paid for the plan that covers vet consultations. This just makes me think they will figure out how to deny just about anything. (It was only $200 and it would have simply counted toward my deductible. I have never made a claim with them before.)
Lemonade - Started off well, ended badly
Originally I loved lemonade and used them for home and pet insurance.
MetLife Pet Insurance - Incorrect payments
I was told multiple times that I had exceeded my annual limit when in fact I had not. I wasted 2 hours of my time telling adjusters how to do their job. Luckily I work in the insurance industry. I was owed way more than what I received. It eventually did get fixed, after 2 hours of phone calls and 5 days later.
