Prudent Pet - I have problems with digital forms vs…
I have problems with digital forms vs physical forms....since that was not an offered item..
The representative who worked with me for the policy had a good document access while deciding.
MetLife - My insurance doubled since the time I…
My insurance doubled since the time I obtained it forcing me to cancel the renewal. My dog is healthy and doesn’t have any preexisting conditions.
Update to MetLife response: I tried calling two times trying to lower the price without sacrificing too much coverage. Unfortunately it makes more sense for me to switch to a different company. Too bad because otherwise I was happy (except of long claim processing times).
Trupanion - Not your fault
I am disappointed in my vets attempt at putting in claims, therefore I have to wait a long time to hear back from Trupanion. When I am working with the er clinic, it’s wonderful
Fetch - Unthoughtful and self-serving
Unthoughtful and self-serving. The reasoning behind their denial of my claim request is because my puppy's appointment was on day 15 of the 15 day waiting period. My date of joining (payment going through) was 7/1 and her service date was 7/17, 16 days upon joining, not 15, so technically we were within the waiting period. There was no clear indication upon joining that there would be a potential “hold” or processing period prior to the waiting period being effective.
This is now a permanent condition for her, so I will be having to pay full price out of pocket the rest of her life, which of course I'll have to make it work, but there was absolutely no grace or empathy.
I had high hopes because they were recommended by a friend, but I will no longer be giving money to Fetch for any future accidents that may arise.
Embrace - Know your policy wording
I thought this would be an easy company to deal with, associated with USAA. Sure, they employ nice people who are helpful when you call in to dispute a claim that wasn’t covered, but get ready because you will be calling them a lot.
You have be extremely specific with your claims and that involves invoices from your veterinarian. I have had 5 claims in one month rejected because the wording used in the invoice is not covered. Once the wording is changed to the specific language in the policy the claim is then covered. However it’s the same thing. I can’t claim “physical therapy” as a broad term because that may or may not include the 5 therapies covered. This is such a headache because I then have to go back to the veterinarian and beg them to change the wording on the invoice so I am refunded. What has been extremely frustrating is my veterinarian expressing her own dismay as “other insurance companies aren’t this picky.” Had I known this I would have not automatically trusted a USAA company to be the best choice. My advice is KNOW YOUR POLICY, and be able to communicate clearly to your veterinarian about what language needs to be used on an invoice. It sucks, in the face of an animal in crisis to have to think about it this way, but alas here we are.
Embrace - They suck
They suck. Will do anything to not pay a claim!
Nationwide - Please do not process my application
Please do not process my application. Online it quoted $23 a month. I filled out the application then get an email saying over $49 a month. I'm not paying that amount nor is it even in the ballpark of the amount it quoted online which prompted me to complete the application.
Embrace - Horrible
UPDATE: Replying to Embrace Pet Insurance . I don't think that's true that 92% get approved. There are tons of reddits of customers complaining that your company will find anything as a preexisting. I stand by my experience this company was horrible to deal with and every little thing will be "oh that was a preexisting" I even had the medical director email the underwriter to say No this wasn't preexisting and a "cough" doesn't mean a dog has preexisting heart disease, give me a break, don't you think I would have seen a cardiologist sooner if that was the case? They make up their own stories and tell you that it was "preexisting" when I told them my dog just got newly diagnosed and it's upsetting, nope they don't believe you. I do not trust this company. I cancelled my insurance and will pay out of pocket. Scams. Google on reddit this company too, you will see it's not just me.
Horrible, they chose every reason as a "pre existing" Like if my dog had a cough that means he has heart disease. It was so ridiculous and causing me so much stress on top of me having stress of my dogs new diagnosis that i cancelled and am just going to save up money. They are scammers. Absolutely ridiculous really.
Nationwide - A little glitchy
After creating the quote, I received the link via email to retrieve it. Retrieving it was fine but after filling in the information (including credit card), I hit the Purchase button and I got a pop up box and then it just returned me to the form page. I had to type in the URL manually in another browser in order to successfully sign up my pup.
Trupanion - We were denied coverage for our cat…
We were denied coverage for our cat under the guise of his urinary blockage being part of a "pre-existing medical condition." We were under the stress of a life-threatening situation that required a multiple day hospital stay and despite that, Trupanion took less than 24 hours to provide the equivalent of a shrug and a "Not our problem."
