MetLife - Incorrect payments
I was told multiple times that I had exceeded my annual limit when in fact I had not. I wasted 2 hours of my time telling adjusters how to do their job. Luckily I work in the insurance industry. I was owed way more than what I received. It eventually did get fixed, after 2 hours of phone calls and 5 days later.
Embrace - Rudeness/ the cost upfront
When I first called in and a gentleman answered, I asked them was there anyway that he could waive the $25 for the first time he told me no didn’t even explain why he was snippy and the fact that you have to spend $25 is absolutely ridiculous so I’m going to be canceling And I found another company that would wave the set up fee for me and they are a lot nicer. The only reason I was asking is because I’m fighting cancer and that alone is expensive.
Trupanion - Not worth the money
Half of my healthy 1 year old dog's body systems are not covered because she burped a few times as a puppy. Because occasional burping was noted in her medical record, ALL gastrointestinal and respiratory concerns will not covered for the entirety of her life. Insurance companies will nitpick for any opportunity possible to deny coverage; care of the pet and client is never a concern. As a veterinary professional, I am extremely disappointed in Trupanion.
Nationwide - Was hard to confirm if I was approved…
Was hard to confirm if I was approved or denied for insurance.
Spot - I though i was going to get $900 back…
I though i was going to get $900 back but only got $700
We were Trupanion customers for 8 years and paid thousands of dollars without ever making a claim. However, when our credit card expired (as they do, after 8 years!!) and we missed a few payments they cancelled our $155 monthly plan and wanted 2.5x more ($380/mo) to reactivate it! To their credit, they did a good job trying to reach out before the cancellation, but unfortunately the email on file was also outdated. When I contacted customer service their "hands were tied" and the reps had no ability to customize my new quote to match my old payment. I would have been okay with a small rise in payment as I didn't catch the lack of payment fast enough, but a 250% increase is just insane.
Buyer Beware: You can NOT set it and forget it with this company - dogs live a long time and they will cancel you and charge you an exorbitant amount if you want to continue with their services!
Spot - Spot's Gold Plan provides for coverage…
Spot's Gold Plan provides for coverage of several important annual vaccines. To be reimbursed, however, Spot requires 2 years of prior Vet care notes.
Coverage for preventative and advertised as such should not require paperwork roadblocks and delays. It throws up serious red flags on any future acute care claims. So yes, I cancelled today.
PetPartners - Save your money
If you are expecting any type of payment for heartworm medication, allergies, ear infection or just an exam, get ready to jump through hoops. Save your money and just pay out of pocket. This insurance just collects your money and wants you to fight to get a claim approved. What a scam!
Fetch - Premium rate increase of 48% yearly!
Google review-
After five years of flawless payments, I am extremely disappointed with Fetch’s decision to hike my premium by nearly 48%. My monthly rate for each of my dogs, Samson and Delilah, skyrocketed from $80.16 to $118.36. I was informed that the underwriters took into consideration three factors; their increase in age (only 5 years old), my Florida location, and general vet cost increases! These do not account for such an outrageous jump. This kind of drastic, unaffordable increase is a terrible way to treat a loyal customer and is exactly why so many people have lost faith in the insurance industry. It appears their goal is to price you out of the game as your babies get older!
Warning.....If your pet has any blood test outside of the "normal" range, your pet will be deemed to have a preexisting condition. Check your pet's blood scores before you sign up!!!!
My dog had slightly elevated liver ALT score in 1/25 and 4/25 (221 and 125). I have two doctors that stated these ranges were normal and did not even talk to me about them. My dog's liver ALT score went to 800 in 6/25 due to liver infection. All $8600 of the vet bills were rejected due to PreExisting condition. Asked that my claim be reviewed. Rejected again. Put a request for external review to Department of Insurance and cancelled my insurance with Nationwide as I don't see them ever fulfilling any insurance claims
