Embrace - Avoid Embrace - Professional Claim Denial Service
I trusted Embrace to protect my cat. Instead, I got an expensive lesson in insurance bad faith practices.
The Setup:
Monthly premiums paid on time. Comprehensive policy purchased. My cat develops health issues requiring a diagnostic workup.
The Gaslighting:
When my vet requested basic claim transparency (what's denied vs. covered), Embrace ignored the request. Their adjuster's solution? Have the veterinarian write an appeal letter for review by "our chief underwriter"—the same person who made the original denial.
What This Really Means:
You're not buying insurance coverage. You're funding a claim denial factory that uses veterinary practices as unpaid administrative staff while hiding behind fake appeals processes.
For Fellow Pet Parents:
The premiums feel affordable until you realize you're paying for the privilege of being professionally obstructed when your pet needs care. Embrace has turned claim denial into an art form.
Bottom Line:
They sell peace of mind but deliver bureaucratic warfare when you're most vulnerable. Your pet deserves better. You deserve better. Choose literally anyone else.

Embrace - Read EVERY single fine print…
Read EVERY single fine print down to every letter and each punctuation point. This company has been the worst not only when it comes to cost, but their lack of empathy, their unwillingness to cover anything EVEN if the diagnosis ties into something it pet is currently being treated for, they will take the cowards way out to tie it back to something and call it “pre-existing”
Nationwide - Never I would trust Nationwide
I had nationwide since my english bulldog was a puppy. It was doing well until September 2024, when they sent me a letter of reducing the benefits from my policy. Sad enough for me because my boy was 9yrs old that time. I had 90% back and $500 deductible, they reduced to 50% back. It was bad enough because of my dog's age despite of the yearly increase that it came to a point of paying almost $300 per month I got them from my work thru payroll deduction. They do not care on pet's health as they get old, where they were needed most. I called them but they could not give me a good reason, and I only used them when needed or in an emergency situations. I would say " never to believe and trust them, they will leave you when you most need them".
Healthy Paws - BEWARE OF HEALTHY PAWS!
BEWARE OF HEALTHY PAWS!
After 9 years of loyalty and paying their ever escalating premiums, they decided with a 60 days notice stating 8/1/25
ALL dogs 7 years plus received a 40% reduction in coverage, my deductible went from $100 to $1,000. Basically it is now health catastrophe insurance. They do not cover wellness
Had I had known this I would’ve started my puppy with another insurance company that’s more solid like Embrace. I realize these newer companies start you off on a low premium with great deductibles and coverage and then all of a sudden either drop you totally or drastically reduce the benefits, upping the premiums and upping the deductible by 1000%. Now I can’t switch him because he has pre-existing conditions so I’m stuck with a high premium $1000 deductible and a 50% coverage. Go on Reddit, FB etc. and you see people’s reviews.
This new policy just happened August 2025.

Trupanion - Filing a claim for my pet is worse than…
Filing a claim for my pet is worse than filing a claim than for myself, the paper work, scanning and emailing.
Then there is the deductibles, each illnessee has its own amount and office visits are not covered.
Trupanion - The premium just went up again
The premium just went up again, nothing has changed, Trupanion doesn't pay for much at all. I am disappointed with the service.
Nationwide - I’m still waiting to receive approval…

Pets Best - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - THEY F-ING SUCK
This is the absolutely WORST company in EVERY AREA - customer service - ease of use - providing guidance on whether a procedure will be covered or not.
I called PRIOR to my cat’s procedure (stomatitis - had to have her teeth pulled) to find out if this is a covered / partially covered / not covered procedure. I was looking for information - Pet’s Best response “We don’t provide any information until we have the COMPLETED paperwork on file.” This means you have no clue if you will receive any reimbursement.
My cat had the procedure completed for her health. Her health is the priority. (Since having her teeth pulled - she is doing excellent)
I submitted the paperwork August 1st - the Vet sent the requested patient file on August 19th and they denied my claim on August 28th. The reason they DENIED the claim - this is priceless- THEY DID NOT RECEIVE THE REQUESTED PATIENT FILE!!!
Can anyone help me understand that logic???
The vet clinic has resent the patient file and I’ve requested they reopen the claim. I’m not holding my breath based on the rudeness of their customer service team.
Again - DO NOT SIGN UP WITH PETS BEST!!!
Embrace - I have no problem with the customer…
I have no problem with the customer service department; they were polite, supportive, and professional... it's the company, itself, that gives me cause for pause. I have been a customer for nine years. This year, when my policy was up for renewal, I saw a 71% rate increase. My pets are healthy and have not had massive claims submitted during that nine year span. The service rep told me the price increase was because of the dogs' ages... that's total price-gouging, imho... I am so fed up... the cost to renew a policy for two dogs was almost $4k per year... WAY more than I spend on vet bills... totally out of control!
