Have an issue with your insurance?
Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.
United Healthcare - Out of network reimbursement
I went to an out of network Health specialist. I had 2 visits for around $200 per visit paid via credit card. They told me to send my invoice/receipt to my insurance company and they would reimburse me. I submitted 2 claims to United Healthcare and they were approved as out of network which went towards that deductible. I just assumed that after that approval, a check from UHC would be sent in the mail to me. It wasn’t.
I chatted with UHC customer service today and they said to contact the health specialist business to resubmit the claim as in network. Talked to the specialist business representative and they don’t deal with insurance AT ALL. They are out of network for everyone and leave it to the patient/customer to handle insurance reimbursements if applicable.
I’m at a loss for what to do now. I know I have to get it sorted with UHC but idk what to say or do at this point. How do I get reimbursed? Was I not supposed to submit a claim? Should I have gone through a different process and submitted something else? I’ve never had to deal with this kind of situation before and I cannot afford to not be reimbursed. Any tips or help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
United Healthcare - Health insurance claimed denied on basis of pre existing condition by United health care
Healthy Paws - Switching Insurance -- Worth it?
I'm currently on Healthy Paws for my 4 year old mixed breed (40 lbs). I was living in Illinois and it was 55$, but moved to Minnesota and its now 75$. Ive considered switching for a cheaper price, and because I have seen a lot of reviews here that the prices for Healthy Paws have exploded. Originally I was considering Pets Best but also saw a lot of reviews that they have gone down hill. So here are my questions
1) I have seen Chewy offers lemonade or trupanion in my state, and both seem to be well regarded. Why would I get the insurance through Chewy vs direct?
2) My dog definitely has seasonal allergies which I've been getting the cyto shot for. This falls under a pre-existing condition right? Would it be worth it to stay on Healthy Paws just for this?
3) If I did switch, there can be waiting periods for 2-4 weeks, so should I keep HP for an extra month while waiting?
4) Are any of the add-ons recommended? Ive seen that preventative is probably not, but Lemonade mentions vet fees, dental, end of life, behavioral, physical therapy... Would other insurances already include this?
Blue Cross Blue Shield - Hospital is overcharing and lying. How can I appeal the bill?
I went to a urology visit at UIC in Chicago. The whole visit was around 10 minutes, no longer, since I was called in: blood pressure and oxigen check, a few questions about my health history and then came in the doctore that in two minutes, without even using special pieces of equipment, gave me the diagnosis.
Only few weeks ago I recevied the bill and surprisingly I was billed twice: one bill for the doctor service and one for the use of the infastructure tislef. Basically the doctor just "rent" the room and equipment and provides the service.
For the first bill, the total was covered by insurance excpet a small co-payment ($40), but the second one is covered only partly . It was $460 and after reductions, I have to pay out pocket, 250$.
The code associated with this item is 99204: "New patient office or other outpatient visit, 45-59 minutes, Level 4"
(https://www.ama-assn.org/practice-management/cpt/cpt-code-99204-new-patient-office-visit-45-59-minutes#:\~:text=Additional%20CPT%20resources-,CPT%C2%AE%20code%2099204%3A%20New%20patient%20office%20or,outpatient%20visit%2C%2045%2D59%20minutes)
If you read thorugh the link above, this code should be applied when: "Office or other outpatient visit for the evaluation and management of a new patient, which requires a medically appropriate history and/or examination and moderate level of medical decision making. When using time for code selection, 45-59 minutes of total time is spent on the date of the encounter."
Basically, none of these createria were met. Even if I descalate to Level 3, it still require 30-44 minutes and a thoroughly examination of past and current conditions.
Now, what actions would you suggest me to do? Trying to reason with the hospital itslef or can BCBS help me with this matter?
Fortunately, I can afford to pay this bill. But it is just frustating that it's literally a mafia, a scheme out there, and nobody does nothing. I can't imagine the people living paycheck by payecheck and being frauded by private health.
PETS BEST - PETS BEST shady customer service experience
Spoke with a woman who would not directly answer any of my questions. I asked how long until they cover a CURABLE pre existing condition such as a UTI for a cat which is a common thing some cats deal with and she went on and on and on about broken bones and all this other nonsense. I tried to steer her back to the original question several times and she just couldn’t stay on topic. I don’t know if she was on something or what her deal was but it was very weird. She didn’t want to give me a direct answer.
I finally asked to speak with a supervisor. She put me on hold for several minutes and came back and said no one was available. Then she message the supervisor with my question, the supervisor just answered it directly. Imagine that. I asked a question and they just answered it. I told her thank you and that was the question I was trying to get an answer to. She said I should have told her that lol. I tried to explain how this can be frustrating and a little suspicious to a pet parent that’s trying to get info. I explained that it is as if she was working me a little. Like she was saying words without answering the question and talking in circles. I would ask a question and she would answer it as if I asked another question. Very sales pitchy. It was very bizarre to say the least. She then started raising her voice and talking over me so at that point I told her to have a nice day.
If you are also curious, there is no amount of time after a cat gets a uti that that they will cover it. There is no curable condition time period like some companies (usually 12 months to 18 months). My cat has had one uti a year and a half ago (she is 2 years old) and if she were to get one at any point in the future it will not be covered. The woman told me not to worry about a uti and that it’s not a big deal which made me uncomfortable. I had to give her a break down of how expensive it actually is. There is the office visit, which is often a same day emergency visit which is more expensive because a uti can come on quickly, the urinalysis, and the medications. It’s expensive. Hundreds of dollars. She then asked why I’m so concerned about a uti, maybe my cat has kidney disease or something. I said no, she does not, I would just like to know what I am paying for coverage wise, what is covered, and what to expect. She then began her sales pitch again and didn’t respond to what I said. She was off on another roll. Very unproductive and unprofessional conversation to say the least.
When companies act like this and you get that pit in your stomach, it is bad deal and you need to get off it. There was nothing good about whatever that was. Really scary these people are in charge of providing insurance for beloved pets.
Progressive - LexxisNexxis won't remove erroneous insurance claims
In 2022 I made a small insurance claim for water damage, $2k, with Progressive. Since then, every time I get quotes for homeowners insurance I get denied, or have to accept high rates, because the Lexxis Nexxus database shows I made 3 claims. A year ago I disputed these several times, and got a letter from Progressive that confirms I only made 1 claim. When I talk to LN, they tell me they've removed the claims, but over a year later I'm still getting denied by insurance quotes and told they are still showing up by the insurance companies. Is there an agency like the CFPB I can submit a complaint to about Lexxus? Or do I need to get a lawyer letter involved? I already have to deal with living in a hurricane prone area with high rates and these higher rates are crippling.

Tesla Insurance - [CA] Rear ended, subrogated, repair complete but need to pursue diminished value from at-fault driver's insurance. Adjuster is non-responsive.
A few weeks ago I was rear ended at a complete stop. Had dashcam footage, etc. so all set there. I subrogated through my insurance and got my car fixed, etc. That is done. My adjuster said a diminished value claim would have to be made directly with the other party's insurance, Tesla Insurance in this case, however.
I got the information of the Tesla adjuster - just a name and phone number. He doesn't answer calls and his voicemail is full. He also does not answer texts. I am wondering what next steps could be - I suppose I could file a small claims case for the diminished value to get things moving. It has been a while. I was hit in a brand new, high value sports car with a few hundred miles so I am *very* keen on pursuing diminished value.

Nationwide - I’m overwhelmed, help!
I’ve been looking for pet insurance and I’m so overwhelmed. I need help!
I was looking at nationwide since it looked affordable but then I read awful things. I’m hoping someone can give me some recommendations!
I live in Illinois.

7 almost 8 year old dachshund. He doesn’t have any pre-existing conditions!
Edit: THANK YOU for all the responses!
CNA Surety - Contractor Licensing Bonds - are they scams?
I wanted to share our ongoing battle with CNA Surety. Contractor licensing bonds are supposed to protect homeowners by ensuring that contractors meet their obligations and pay out when they don’t. But here’s the problem: CNA Surety claims they have no duty to investigate or pay out unless there’s a court order—meaning you’d have to sue and win in court first before any funds are released.
This issue is now under review by the California Department of Insurance, which is conducting a broader market review. Redacted snippetof their stance: [CNA's Stance](https://imgur.com/a/xVNebbg)
Has anyone here ever actually received a payout on a contractor licensing bond claim? What do you think is really going on with this practice?
