Embrace - Refused reimbursement
This insurance company is a scam. My pet was scheduled for a dental cleaning. However, the vet discovered he had severe gingivitis when prepping him for the cleaning and he needed 16 teeth pulled. Filed a claim with Embrace and it was our first claim ever with this company ever since we insured the pet 4 years ago. Every year the policy price keeps climbing, but they outright denied our 2k dental bill because they blamed the vet for only coded the bill as “wellness”. I asked customer service on the phone why the claim was denied, and Cassie told me I should go blame my vet because they refused to break down the bill on how much of it was dental cleaning. I asked Cassie how much cleaning does she think my pet needed done when he had 16 teeth pulled. And she kept telling me there is nothing they can do and to call the vet. Do not recommend.
Embrace - Horrible
Horrible. Would not cover a single penny of the expenses for my dog's cancer treatments for the most ridiculous reasons. Stay clear of this place!

The price of the policy as compared to the coverage just doesn’t seem feasible. Paying this much for pet insurance and then still having to come out of pocket for more than half of the visits, doesn’t make sense. Once my policy is up I’ll likely go back to paying out of pocket.

If you’re going to require a call in order to cancel a policy; something that can be easily accomplished through a button in the app, you should be willing to staff your call center. Customer service has been ridiculously bad and the coverage is not good for what they charge.

Beware of this Pet Insurance Policy - Misrepresentation
I have 4 pets on Trupanion. I have been paying significant monthly premiums as they claim 90% coverage. I am really sorry i wasted my money and had a false sense of security.
If you cover medical expenses, then you need to cover Vet Exam Fees which is part of the expense for a new medical condition.
I have made two claims over the past five years. The first was a Neurology Consultation that my regular vet requested. This was denied as they said they don’t pay Consultation fees.
Hmm .. ok , but other plans do.
Recently i took my dog to the urgent care for a urgent problem. I payed $450 and Trupanion reimbursed me $43. Even with the co-pay $200 and Co- Insurance, this is a really low reimbursement and not worth having insurance for ! They did not pay for the urgent care vet exam fees , which was approximately $100 .
When i asked this to be reviewed, Trupanion emailed me to say they don’t cover vet exams ,as its part of routine vet care. Yup it is part of the medical care for this health problem, so it is sneaky that they don’t cover it !
I am cancelling my four policies immediately and found a suitable alternative that covers all parts of medical care.
Embrace - Did I make a mistake
So far since I made the switch to Embrace I haven’t been impressed. The first time I submitted a claim I was getting emailed to explain the issue and my vet had to explain and send in history. My other insurances never was this hard to make a claim. My pay was usually deposited in 72hours. I’m now starting to wonder if I made a mistake by switching.
Nationwide - Website has been inaccessible for months
Insurance is great as far as covering claims, but gets very expensive for old purebred dogs. Their website is now useless. I've been kicked out of it for two months because of some widespread problem they apparently had, and now nobody can fix the issue and get me access. I've called six times - always told it will be fix but it never is. They do give you a way to submit a claim without the site, but I can't see status of past claims and when I call about an unpaid claim, sometimes they say there's no record of the claim. They also told me they would send me a list of claims with status, but never did. I would have kept that information separately on my own, but I've always relied on their site to look things up. Now you can't do that.
For a company the size of Nationwide, you'd think they could fix a data issues with their site, but they can't. Be cautious - maybe look for better options.

It took weeks for my claim to be processed, and then a majority of the claim wasn’t even covered bc it was considered “illness”. My dog had her regular checkup and needed her ears cleaned, nails clipped, etc.

I recently file 2 claims for our dog. One for over $700 & one for around $300.I reviewed the claims and I’m only getting back around $400!! Not happy! I’ve been paying monthly payments for about 3 years now! Not happy with those results! I will be canceling your services due to that result!!
