State Farm - Insurance Renewal/Non-Renewal
Ins: State Farm
I got into a wreck that I was deemed at-fault for in May 2024. My auto policy at that time renewed from Feb 2024-August 2024. In August 2024, they renewed me again and raised my rate (obviously). Then in December 2024, I received a letter from State Farm saying they weren’t renewing me (Feb 2025-Aug 2025) for being high-risk and I had to find new coverage. So my question is: Why did they renew me again in August 2024? Why didn’t they just non-renew me at that point?
MetLife - Mini Aussie 6Y - Insurance Reccomendation
Hi guys !
I'm considering switching pet insurance plans for my 6 year old mini Aussie. I currently have MetLife Pet Illness and Injury, but with one minor shoulder injury - maxed out my benefits after one visit. As my baby gets older - I want to make sure I have the best coverage for him - especially with ortho treatments ( ie. PRP injections) Any Recommendations would be very appreciated !
Pets Best - Just Joined Pets Best - 40+ day SLA for Claims
Hey Everyone!
I brought home a new kitten on February 14th. We went to our first vet visit on February 15th. I uploaded the documents within a week of our visit and started the claim process the same day, to give my vet time to send their paperwork.
As of today, my claim is still not finished processing. I was told their email system was down and they're now processing claims in the order they came in. I was also told they have a 40+ day SLA to get it done.
Seriously? 40 days to process a "fast" claim? Why advertise speedy processing if you internally have a 40+ day SLA?
End Rant
Progressive - What can I get to replace progressive?
Hi we have progressive as for our auto insurance we had an accident and it raised from $2000 to $4000+ for our premium and we added 2 more cars didnt really save us money like that. We pay almost $800 monthly for 3 cars. I just got licensed in CA so i dont have a driving record yet. (I was from another country) I was trying to get a policy under my name. I dont think I can since theres not much driving history. My husband has a dui from 9 years ago and we cant get geico. Were running out of cheaper options. What can we do or has anybody had this issue and what did you do? Where can I shop around for auto insurance.
All State - Help me get my basement flood covered?
My basement flooded this week with 5 inches of water. We have had a lot of rain. The sump pump appears to have given out and the backup sump pump didn't kick on. This has not fully been confirmed as the reason for the water because when the plumbers arrived the pit was only 2/3 full and water wasn't flowing out. BUT we have not been able to identify another cause or factor for the flood. The plumber mentioned that it could be due to malfunctioning drain tiles. We had an inspection and it was confirmed our house does not have drain tiles.
We have insurance through All State and our policy states the following is **not included.**
>
Water or any other substance overflows from a sump pump, sump pump well or other system designed for the removal of subsurface water which is drained from a foundation area of a structure.
I don't think there is much room for negotiating coverage with All State, but posting here because I am **desperate**. Does anyone have advice on what I can look into or how to try get this covered? The assessor is scheduled to come in 2 days and trying to get a case out together. TY!
Fetch - Is it worth switching pet insurance? (Fetch Vs Pets Best)
I have a two year old mixed breed dog he has been on Fetch pet insurance since I adopted him as a puppy. I was paying about $25/month. The first year I did not make any claims so it did not increase. This past year I did have to make about $5,000 in claims which led to an IBD diagnosis. I have not made any claims since then. I just got my renewal notice and the new monthly cost is around $60/month. This doesn’t seem reasonable for the low coverage limit I have.
This seems like an excessive increase. Is it worth switching pet insurance to something that has better coverage and is less than half the price but won’t cover pre-existing conditions and just saving the extra money for when it’s needed?
What would you guys do?
State Farm - Need advice concerning repairs to a “total loss” vehicle
Hi all,
I am looking for advice regarding my vehicle that was determined to be a total loss from a collision a couple months ago. It’s my first wreck and figuring out what to do every step of the way has been a total struggle. The communication between me, the insurance adjuster, and the shop has been absolutely terrible (with some information intentionally left out, it feels like) and I could use any help I can get. I’m in Oklahoma btw.
A couple months ago my ‘08 Mercury Mariner was rear-ended. Her insurance company, State Farm, determined it to be a total loss and offered me $7000 for the vehicle or $5800 to retain it. The vehicle has sentimental value to me (was my grandma’s car) and only has 64,000 miles on it and since it’s been in the family so long I know its history (NO mechanical problems whatsoever) so I would really like to retain and repair it. The shop that did the estimate provided a quote of $5100 to repair it. The insurance adjuster said the title would be clean if I retain the vehicle. My main question is, if I put the full $5100 into repairing the vehicle and I get hit again, will I get less money from insurance since the vehicle was already a total loss at some point (even with a clean title)? The adjuster said that that wasn’t true but also said the car had to be repaired “back to brand new” which seems like an impossibility/possible loophole that can be used later if there’s another wreck. My brother thinks I should put as little money as possible into it so if I get hit again I can have some of that $5800 to put towards a new car.
Like I said, total idiot when it comes to this kind of thing so any advice or clarification is welcome. Thank you in advance!
Progressive Insurance - Progressive Insurance question
Hoping someone could possibly shed a little light on my situation. My daughter wrecked her car in front of our house on March 2nd. On March 5th Progressive sent the tow truck to retrieve the vehicle which they towed to an IAA auction yard to have it appraised. The appraiser went on the 7th. I spoke with someone from progressive on the 8th who needed to verify a few things. She said something about it being a total loss which at that time I didn’t know, which apparently she thought I had already been contacted. I told her I hadn’t so she said well I’ll just go over it real quick even though this isn’t my department. She said that it was a deemed a total loss and they valued my car at $8200 something (I don’t really remember the exact number) Little lower than I expected but okay. Anyway I logged into the app to check the status of the claim and I do see it’s a total loss but the only thing I see is the appraisers repair estimate for $8289 and the deduction for the deductible. Is that what they are actually valuing the car at? Or is that simply a repair estimate? We still owe on the car so I’m trying to plan accordingly. I’ve contacted our adjuster but have left messages with no return call as of yet.
Geico - Got into an Accident and police say we were both guilty will this damage my credit score ?
I was At a stop and some lady came up speeding to turn on where I was. When the police came she told them that she didnt see me and that a i blew the horn but she was too late. She hit my car and i had to pay 2,000 dóllar to fix my car. The police say we were both At fault but i told him i never move from the stop and that i was going to make a right turn when I saw her but i never was able to move. He made us both guilty. A few month later i revive a letter from geico saying i own them like 10,000. Will this kill my credit score? I dont have that money to pay. I have check my credit and i see nothing but am afraid they will put on my credit soon or later. Its being months already. It was back in january.
Geico - Total loss in Florida
Struck my uninsured motorcyclist. Car incurred 17,800 in damages. Claim against my insurance in Florida (geico).
Car is a 2020 dodge challenger with 60k miles. Geo is saying the total loss threshold is 75%. But everything I find online says Florida is 80%. But when I read the actual statute it reads as though it may only apply to uninsured vehicles.
I believe the kbb on the car is between 22.5 and 25. Which means that 5% can make or break this car being totaled. The car is paid off and I want to avoid it being totaled at all costs. I was also told by geico I cannot get a second opinion on the repair costs.
They have not given me the acv of the vehicles yet and are still working on it.
