State Farm - Nonrenewal car policy
State farm sent me a letter saying they weren’t going to renew my policy due to my dad’s driving record, mentioned said claims and one accident that he was in and that I had to switch by April. My parents and I have different agents and I have my own policy but I think our policies are tied together somehow? Anyway, I asked my mom if they had finally switched and she said no, that their agent didn’t see such claims on their end and were able to remain with State Farm. My parents never used the roadside assistance that State Farm claimed in the nonrenewal letter so what the hell.Has anyone been in a similar situation? I’ve already switched insurance but I’m curious to talk to my agent to know why there’s inconsistency.
Allstate - Allstate refused cancellation request due to signature match
I faxed in a request to cancel and cash out an unneeded long-term care policy. I noticed I was billed again, about a month later. I received in the mail that same day a letter denying my request because the signature doesn't match what they have on file. I called Allstate and they told me all I can do is resubmit and ensure the signature matches, but it'll be declined again if it still doesn't. I was told I'd lose the accrued value if I disputed the charge or stopped the payments.
I'm at a loss. My signature hasn't changed. Any suggestions?
State Farm - Desperate, poor, + confused
I bought a used 2012 Volvo during the pandemic at the height of used car prices out of desperation. I needed a car. I have $12600 left on the loan. The car itself is now valued at $4000. It currently requires $15000+ in repairs to pass safety and emissions. I’ve had nothing but problems with it since purchase a couple of years ago. I have put about $1500 into the car so far in repairs. I suspect I was sold a lemon, one shop suspected a history of flood damage, another refused to comment if that was a possibility. I do have gap insurance, not sure if that can apply here. I cannot afford to fix the vehicle or pay out the loan and get a new vehicle. Between the original dealer, the lender, State Farm, auto repair shops, I feel pretty constantly let down by customer service. I also struggle to understand all of the policies and legalese. Is there anything I can do here? I’m so overwhelmed.
My insurance company - Dirt Bike accident
My son was hanging out with his girlfriend’s family when her dad pulled out a couple of dirt bikes and offered to let them drive around the block on them. No helmets, no licenses, bikes aren’t registered or even road worthy.
My son is 15 with a learners permit. It was 8pm, dark, and the bikes had no headlamps. Long story short, my son ended up running into a car, causing $7K in damages and losing part of a toe in the process.
My insurance company will not cover this because it was outside the scope of the coverage provided for the learners permit. The driver is threatening a lawsuit.
I’m angry at the girlfriend’s father. I would have never allowed him to get on that bike if I had known about it. I knew the consequences if something like this happened. In addition, the father apparently verbally told the driver he would cover the damages but he hasn’t returned my call.
Can the driver sue me? Shouldn’t she just file with her insurance company for uninsured/under insured motorist coverage?
Nationwide - Nationwide dropped us - help!
I have a 4-year-old French Bulldog, and we previously used Nationwide for her pet insurance. Unfortunately, we just found out they dropped our policy without any reason. I have been looking around for other pet insurance companies but feel frustrated by the pre-existing condition coverage. We signed up for trupanion but they want records of our last 2 years and my pet has a few things in the notes that I think will totally screw us going forward like itchy paws, a hurt pack, and previous GI bugs/UTIs. Has anyone found a good insurance company that will not be so harsh about not covering pre-existing conditions? Thanks in advance for the recommendations!
Blue Cross Blue Shield - Prior authorization question
I have a question about prior authorization. I am trying to get one of the weight loss meds like wegovy, zepbound etc. I had several appts with my primary care Dr and she informed me she would try but that most likely insurance wouldn't cover it. The Dr office called me today to tell me about bloodwork, etc and informed me I should call my insurance provider and ask if it would be covered. I did that, with blue cross blue shield, and the lady on the phone was extremely helpful. She informed me ozempic and something else wouldn't be covered but wegovy and zepbound are and she would need prior authorization. She put me on hold to call my Dr, then when she got back on the line she said the Dr would not do prior authorization. She also informed me I should find a new Doc because your Dr is supposed to help you. My question is why would my Dr then deny it after asking me to call and see if it's covered and it was? I'm just confused. Thank you for any insight.
RSPCA - RSPCA pet insurance keep calling
I looked online for a quote for pet insurance and the people at RSPCA have called twice already trying to get me as a customer and when I say no because I wanna look around at other options… they ask if I wanna sign up until I change my mind and then cancel
So annoying
Does this happen to anyone else ?
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas - I got quoted a wrong deductible and copay information. What rights do I have?
I got diagnosed with sleep apnea and I was delaying my treatment because I found out that its very expensive. After a few months, the cpap company based in Houston, TX reached out again that my deductible has been met and I just owe 171$ and then insurance will take the charges.
After I started my sleep apnea treatment, I got the call again from the medical company that they made a mistake on their end and the benefit information was not correct. So now, they are asking me to pay 45$ for supplies and 65$ for cpap rental every month till the payments are complete. I am just a loss of what the hell is this!
I get screwed up and left with more charges for a treatment which was quoted wrongly to me. I called Blue Cross Blue Shield OF TX and they said they cannot help me.
My current insurance is ending in one month and I am changing insurance from next month. So, it doesn’t make sense why pay deductible towards an insurance which will not be there in 30 days.
What are my rights?
SBMA - Does Minimal Essential Coverage not cover bloodwork?
Hi!
I took the SBMA MEC for just about a few months in late 2024 with a new job I started.
I went to the doctors on November 12th and also received bloodwork but later I received a bill for $2000 for the bloodwork and $1265 for the Physician Office Visit.
I am wondering if Minimal Essential Coverage doesn’t cover basic bloodwork?
Last I was told, Labcorp was waiting to hear back from SBMA for covering the services but I guess the insurance never got back to them and I’m stuck with this bill :/ I will be contacting SBMA again and also Labcorp to see what I can do.
Pets Best - Annual premium increase
I have a Pets Best insurance policy on all three of my cats, and on one cat who has passed. I have had good experiences with the company who has saved me thousands in bills (across four pets). I have been a pets best customer for over 6 years.
I just got an email saying that one of my cats premiums will increase from $225 to $378 dollars a year. The only reason they give is that he's a year older (now four years old).
I am wondering if anyone has experienced a similar jarring increase. Will it be the same for my other two cats? Does pets best negotiate premiums? Is there a cap or should I expect this annually?
I know there are issues with getting coverage for preexisting conditions so changing providers for this car isn't an option, but I could explore different coverage for my other pets.
Please advise. Thanks!
