AAA - AAA Agent said I needed to get auto insurance if I wanted home insurance?
I just got a good quote on home insurance but the car insurance is more than triple what I’m currently paying (I don’t think that’s what they want the triple to be known for).
Has anyone else experienced this with AAA? I triple checked with her that I heard her correctly. I work from home and rarely drive so I have a mileage based plan. This is not that. She said at least one vehicle needed some kind of coverage and it could just be liability.
State Farm - State Farm Homeowner Claim
Long story short.
Storm came thru Pittsburgh region. Pretty moderate wind and hail damage to roof, windows, screens, gutters and downspouts.
Had 2 adjusters that never called me back.
3rd adjuster scheduled a “ladder assist” inspection.
Had 2 seek now inspections. (Needed a re-inspection since first one was done with a wet roof.)
Adjuster 3 said “I put you in for a full roof replacement”.
2 days later I now have adjuster #4 assigned to my case.
Adjuster #4 states “your old adjuster didn’t have the authority to issue you a full roof replacement, management is disputing your claim, we’re having a engineer come out to your house for an inspection, the hail in your area wasn’t that big in diameter”.
It’s been 40+ days since the storm and I have an interior leak…. They just came out 2 days ago to inspect the inside.
Has this happened to anyone else? What’s my next move?
I have pictures of my roof from September 2024 when I had my chimneys re-pointed with no damage.
Now you can tell I have shingles bent from the storm.
It at a loss on what to do.
Edit #1: 1” hail came thru the area.
Edit #2: Correction to edit #1 - Roof is 10 years old. Looking into weather report now. 1.75” hail in my location. 60mph winds. 1/4 mile away a roof was blown off a grocery store. 4 of my neighbors have already had their roofs replaced.
Spot Pet Insurance - Spot Pet Insurance. - deceptive!
We purchased Spot Pet Insurance for our newly adopted rescue Golden and chose “Accident” insurance only . They happily took our application and all monthly payments since July 2024. Over the weekend, he suddenly became lame on his back right leg and was very reluctant to walk or stand up. We know it occurred between his am walk and 3 pm. After taking him to Blue Pearl and getting imaging done as well as pain meds, we submitted our invoice for reimbursement. DENIED. Reason why? We didn’t have the EXACT time of the injury. I submitted an appeal, but if it’s denied we are cancelling. We would be better off putting $100 bucks a month away in his own health account. What a bait and switch!
my insurance company - Car accident advice
I just recently got into a car accident where I was turning left on and intersection right after my light turned green, and the other driver was to my right side driving straight through the intersection with a red light.
They hit me on the front right side of my car and my car was deemed totalled.
I called the insurance company and she has not yet made a detailed statement on her insurance or police report (the accident happened at around 6pm on Monday). My insurance is deeming this 100% my fault. How do I get out of this? It obviously was not my fault as she ran then red, but they are saying there is no proof to her running a red light, which is true, I have none. But why does it then have to be 100% my fault? It is so so frustrating, and I would like some help going forward with this.
I haven’t signed any papers for the insurance company yet and am hoping to dispute this. Do I have a leg to stand on? Thanks.
Edit: I should also add that I have told my insurance company about her carrying an expired insurance sheet and her driving for Uber Eats with her car not registered as a commercial used vehicle.
Healthy Paws - healthy paws renewal is too expensive. Is there an alternative for my senior dog? :(
I need some insight from others who seem to be having the same issue with rate increase on their dog’s premiums. My senior dog is going from $179 to $410. I cannot afford it but i need something in case he has an accident / medical emergency. What are you doing if you’ve also received a high rate increase? I understand pre existing conditions are not covered if we switch up. He is currently on an Apoquel medication for lifelong allergies, and so far so good healthwise. He is also a Saint Bernard so as a giant breed, they do not have a longer lifespan. We live in California.
A quick search showed me ASPCA pet insurance, which i didn’t know existed… Any advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.
Edit: typo on ASPCA 😅
Pets Best - Pets best. I am very angry
So this may slightly be my fault but I need to vent and need options. I have had pets best for 2 years. My golden retriever blew her ACL and I took her to a surgeon and they confirmed it. The entire process took 5 months. I called pets best to see how to proceed, they said to pay the bill and then send everything to them. So I did.
They just came back and said that they will not reimburse me because I don’t wait 6 months to have the surgery. WTF!!! and why would you not tell me when I called to ask how to proceed?!?
Am I just out of luck? Or do you think that this is worth fighting? I am out $7k now. This is why I had pet insurance in the first place!!!
Northwestern Mutual - Life and disability insurance question
Hi everyone, I got to this forum after seeing some "NW mutual life insurance is a scam" posts and i'm not sure if I got scammed. I was in medical training when a financial adviser told me about getting disability and life insurance.. with NW mutual... I'm 35 years old, very healthy, I pay about 87$ for 2M Term to 80 policy with no annual dividend. And my premium for disability is $110.. Looking for advice if I should switch to a different broker (if thats an option) or just general advice.
null - On the hook for deductable after Dr. changed claim details
So I've been going to a psychiatrist practitioner for more than 2 years now. I've paid a $25 copay each visit. I've never had to pay a deductible, it's always been the same practitioner as well. Out of the blue in January I get sent a bill that is many many times the cost of my copay, with the bill stating that it's my deductible.
I called my clinic and they tell me nothing's changed, that the insurance was sending back that it was out of network and that they'll resubmit. I called the insurance and they let me know that in the past they were filing claims as a family practitioner, but now they're filing as psychiatry/specialist which is subject to my deductible. They mentioned that I could file a dispute, but that everything did look accurate and they're not sure how or why it was charged as general practice before. When I called my clinic back they told me they'd been bought out and that the practice is a specialist clinic and told me basically they don't care how it was charged before.
I am very frustrated. I went ahead and cancelled my next appointment and am looking for options to continue on my medicine. I'm hoping my old family doctor might be able to pick up the prescription. Not sure what else I can do.
I would not have went in for my visit had I known it was going to cost me multiple months of rent. And all just so she can ask me 3 minutes of questions and write the same prescription I've gotten for the past year.
Is there anything I can do to get out of paying this bill? I was not told before hand that anything was changing. I know it's more complex than this but I can't help but feel like I'm being scammed out of my money.
Also does this not sound borderline fraudulent? How can a practice go from being general practice to specialist without undergoing major changes. If they are a specialist now, how were they not before??
Anyways, I just needed to vent this out I guess. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. God bless the American Healthcare system.
Priority Health - Two Private Insurances?? (I’m naive & I don’t understand insurance math)
I’m new to the private insurance world, so if anyone knows the answers to these questions, I will take any bit of knowledge given. Here’s what I’m working with:
**-Priority health - HMO ($1,300 family deductible) -Through my employer, Corewell Health**
**-State of Indiana Anthem - Healthsync POS with HSAS - ($6,000 family deductible) Through my husband’s employer in the state of Indiana**
* ***How do deductibles work? Policy states "You have to meet the deductible before coverage kicks in"?***
\[I’ve had Priority Health since 1/1/25 (Anthem did not become active until 3/1/25). Priority is saying I have met my family deductible of $1,300 but I am positive I have not paid anything remotely that close in office visit copays or on prescriptions. I’m happy about this, but it seems to me that I had some sort of coverage since the deductible is already met.\]
* ***Is it beneficial to notify both insurance companies so that they are aware of “the coordination of benefits”?***
* ***Can I pick who my primary insurance is (for doctors' appointments and prescriptions)? Or does it not matter who is primary and who is secondary?***
\[I might be speaking too soon, but despite the higher deductible, it seems like my husband’s insurance, Anthem, is better.\]
* ***Insurance math…??***
I recently picked up a prescription, and the pharmacy processed the insurance claims as follows:
* Priority Insurance (primary): $15 copay
* Anthem Insurance (secondary): $11 copay
The pharmacy combined the two insurances and calculated the total copay to be $7. I'm unsure if this was processed correctly.
My question is, with two private insurances, shouldn't the prescription be covered in full, resulting in a $0 copay?
Additionally, will I still be responsible for paying an office-visit copay for in-network doctor visits under both insurance plans?
\[My logic is that if I'm paying full premiums for two insurance companies, I should receive full coverage between the combined two insurance companies."\]
* ***Do I have to run both insurances when filling a prescription?***
\-My husband is prescribed disposable insulin pumps, which required a prior authorization. However, the PA process took months to complete due to communication issues between Corewell Health and Priority Insurance. Fortunately, his disposable insulin pumps are now fully covered by Priority Health. Here's the question: Until the prior authorization expires, is he required to file claims through Anthem when picking up refills? Note that Anthem became his new insurance provider on March 1, 2025, through his employer, and was not involved in the current prior authorization.
\[There are numerous prescriptions that Priority Insurance refuses to cover, but Anthem will. It seems like having to use both insurances could be a double-edged sword. The primary reason I have two private insurances is to mitigate the issues with prescription plan exclusions. Specifically, one insurance company will cover certain medications that the other will not, and vice versa.\]
Nationwide - Nationwide tripled policy last year and is cutting coverage by 40% this year.
Nationwide tripled policy and cut coverage 40%
Last year they tripled my policy to over $3k, and just sent me a letter saying next year they are cutting coverage to 50%. Been with them for probably 5+ years.
I am on a grandfathered plan that covered 90% and wellness, so basically everything (including food since prescribed).
To pay triple the rate and then also lose 40% of my coverage is absurd, and they said they have no other options or plans to reduce costs. Monthly costs also only drop $30 which is a slap in the face.
Any idea where I can go or what I can do to control costs?
He’s a 12.5 year old “beagle” mix for reference and has cushings for background.
