Geico - Cheapest auto insurance opinions?
Hi all, I keep running into an issue where my auto insurance is OK then it goes up eventually which makes me want to look around. This past year I've been on a mission to reduce my expenses as much as possible. I cut a lot and the auto is a pain because I lock in a price then when I get it all set up it goes up eventually later. I got advertised a commercial about a site that offers "wholesale" insurance prices that apparently is cheaper because no middle man. I didn't recognize the site so to me it seemed weird so I avoided. I looked for a local broker in my city but they only rep a few companies, one I gave my info to like vin and they never sent me a quote or anything but I got an email that showed they were looking for rates on the carrier sites. That company appears to be out of business now, my city doesn't have many options with local people that can compare rates. Is my best bet to call bigger places individually like geico etc and just change companies each year when the premi
GAP insurance company - I'm stumped on what to do with my auto loan, GAP insurance etc
Location: Missouri
Alright long story short, I had a car accident earlier this year that totalled my vehicle. I had full coverage insurance that covered the majority of the auto loan I had. The other party, the GAP insurance is to take care the rest of my loan. I got a piece of mail from the GAP people saying the check has been issued to my lean holder on February 11th, was told it should take no more than 30 days for that money to hit that account. So I called my auto lender to ask what's going on, turns out the GAP insurance company sent the check to the wrong address, that was March 11th. 30 days since the initial start of the GAP claim, I called them again today, March 25th to figure out what is going on. Come to find out they issued a new check on March 18th which was last week. It's been 7 days, nearly 45 in total since my auto loan should of been taken care of but it hasn't and I haven't been able to get a new loan due to my current outstanding loan that the GAP insurance is supposed to take care of.
Basically I don't know what to do at this point, I'm still paying on the current auto loan cause I don't want it to effect my credit but at the same time I no longer have the vehicle since it's been totalled and taken by my auto insurance, what do I do in this situation, is there anything I can do?
Canada Post - Policy cancelled
Should I get lawyers involved?
In January 2025, I received a letter from my insurance company stating that my policy had been cancelled due to non-payment and that I now owe a balance. However, this was the first and only communication I received—prior to that, I had no notice that a cancellation was even being considered.
Here’s what happened:
In late 2024 or early 2025, it appears that one or two scheduled payments did not go through because my credit card had been temporarily locked by my bank due to a fraud alert. As soon as I became aware of the issue, I immediately made the payment manually and settled any outstanding amount.
I reviewed my billing history and confirmed that no payments were missed beyond that short disruption—and everything was brought up to date right away.
The insurer claims they sent me a letter stating that I needed to pay the full yearly premium in order to maintain my policy. I never received this letter.
This communication would have been sent during or shortly after the Canada Post strike (November 15 to December 17, 2024), which caused widespread mail delays well into January. It’s highly likely the letter was delayed or never arrived at all.
Again, the only letter I ever received was the final notice informing me of the cancellation and that I now owe a balance. By that point, I had no opportunity to take corrective action.
I believe the insurer failed to adequately notify me of their intent to cancel my policy, especially considering the known disruption in mail services and the fact that I had already taken steps to correct the payment issue. This situation has now affected my insurance record and left me scrambling to secure new coverage at a higher cost.
They sent it the underwriter and denied my claim what should I do?
Marketplace Insurance - My Wife Told A Representative to Cancel Her Marketplace Plan And They Didn't
I'm filing taxes for the year 2024 and I found out we had marketplace coverage that we didn't know we had. In 2023 my wife began the process of applying for marketplace coverage, but during the process told them she was no longer interested and that she wanted to cancel her application and for them to delete her information.
We have now found out that they did not do that and instead completed the application and we were enrolled for the first 3 months of 2024 before my employer health insurance cancelled it.
Is there literally anything that I can do? It doesn't seem right that we ended up enrolled for something my wife cancelled midway through the application process.
For context, the reason she wanted to cancel was because the representative felt hostile and she had almost fallen prey to a handful of scams, and he kept rushing her to give him her personal information so he could finish. She felt his tone was more in line with scammers rushing marks to get the payoff and tried to terminate the interaction and the application immediately.
Lemonade - Help! Lemonade pet insurance
Can someone help me with Lemonade pet insurance?
My pet policy is 80% reimbursement, $250 deductible, $10,000 annual.
My dog went to the vet to get a mass checked out and got bloodwork done.
My plan doesn't cover exams or bloodwork.
Cytology was $185 and fine needle aspiration was $40.
In this case, the eligible cost that would go towards the deductible is the cytology exam and fine needle aspiration, which adds up to $225.
I was under the impression Lemonade paid out 80% AFTER the deductible is met.
But Lemonade just got back to me, and it shows that they covered 80% of the $225, which is $180.
Which means I still have to pay $70 until my deductible is met, instead of $25.
I thought the 80% was only for reimbursement after the deductible, not 80% coverage of the deductible.
Is this how all pet insurance work?
Kia Finance - Getting letters stating my loan has been denied
I bought a brand new 2025 Kia K5 a few weeks ago. I financed it through Kia Finance. I temporarily unfroze my credit to do so. It has been a few weeks now, and I have received two letters (one from Wells Fargo, the other I forget) stating that my request for a loan was denied because my credit is frozen.
I think Kia Finance is trying to sell my loan and they cannot. What should I do? Is this going to cause a problem?
Geico - Uninsured
Had my payment coming up of $519 ( 2 payments of 259, lumped together) I instacart for my income and it had become too hot recently to do as much as normal. I let geico know i could pay some not the full amount due, representative told me pay what I can.. thinking it was notated on my acct and id be ok.. (8 years of coverage) I continued to work although I started training at the job I finally got hired for, taking away time to instacart.. long story short I saw Geico canceled me on 7/21, I found out a few days ago because I don’t check emails often. They usually text me. Im in NY, To reinstate I need to pay off my balance 389 + 300 for new coverage.. I don’t get paid until the 15th.. anything I can do? what do I need to be concerned about? any penalties.. etc. Really thought the representative did me a solid, why not say it would still cancel?!
Progressive - Applying out of pocket costs towards a deductible?
Windshield had some severed cracks that started to spider out and had to be fully replaced/recalibrated.
Before having it fixed, I filed a claim with my insurance company (progressive). My claim was denied as I hadn’t yet met my comprehensive deductible and didn’t have glass coverage at the time. I added the glass coverage a couple weeks after the claim was denied to make sure I’m covered in future events.
I finally saved up enough to have the windshield replaced and recalibrated just this week.
My question: Is the amount I paid out of pocket for this replacement eligible to go towards my comprehensive deductible for any future issues?
My biggest concern is that I just don’t want it to look like I’m trying to commit insurance fraud by submitting a second claim for the same thing after just adding the glass coverage.
Appreciate any help.
T. Rowe Price - T. Rowe Price’s terrible Rollover process
I want to rollover my Fidelity Traditional IRA to my current 401k plan at TRP. TRP requires that incoming rollovers be done via a letter & and check made out to and mailed to me, that I must then mail to TRP. When I called Fidelity to request the check and letter, the rep I spoke to was frankly, shocked, and highly discouraged doing rollover via check and recommended I ask TRP to do a direct rollover instead. (I did, and they said no.) I am so frustrated that TRP is so outdated, and to be honest, the Fidelity rep’s reaction has made me nervous that something will go wrong. She sounded like they never do it this way anymore, and had to transfer me several times to get to someone who could confirm that they could even write a check & letter according to the specifications from TRP, and said that the request was very unusual. These people handle rollovers every day- is TRP the only one that does it this way?
I much prefer Fidelity, and the only reason I want to do this is to open up the option to make backdoor Roth contributions in the future. (The traditional IRA only exists because I rolled over my prior employer plan to it years ago before I knew what I was doing). That being said, I currently am not yet at the income limit for Roth IRA contributions, but I expect (hope) to be there in 5-10 years. I wanted to roll over now to get it over with & because I know not all plans allow an IRA to 401k (reverse) rollover, and I don’t know if I’ll be with the same company when it comes time for me to begin backdoor Roth.
Am I overthinking it in either direction? Should I just suck it up and do the indirect rollover (and not sleep for weeks until I see the funds cleared)? Or am I thinking way too far ahead about backdoor Roth and should just leave things as they are?
(Or just complain in solidarity with me that TRP is super annoying and out of date with their rollover process - has anyone else experienced this?)
Edit: I have been informed in the comments that if the check is made out to “TRP FBO my name” it is considered a direct rollover, which is great.
my insurance company - Rear ended by uninsured driver/Diminution of Value
I was rear ended by a driver with an out of state license, but his truck is registered in this state (Texas), he seemed to be a shady individual as well to me when dealing with him.
The police came and wrote a report but it didn’t technically put him at fault even though he rear ended me. I did however get him on video admitting he was at fault. I filed the claim with his insurance, but it was a slow response from them. I went ahead and filed with mine to get the ball rolling because I needed to get it fixed. Well turns out that was a good move because come to find out he wasn’t covered by his insurance company at the time. So basically he got away with having no insurance when the police arrived because he had a paper saying he did.
My question is now that my truck is fixed and back to normal, I received a diminution in value evaluation form from my insurance company for me to fill out. Is this to provide a compensation due to my truck now losing some value to the accident? It had never been in an accident previously so what can I expect towards compensation based on the value of the truck. Its KBB value ranges from $15-$19k. It’s in excellent condition though. How would diminution work according to that? Will my insurance company send me a check or something?
Also on a side note, can I contact the police to inform them that his insurance company called me and said that he was not covered at the time? Could they pursue a ticket to him even though he has an out of state license?
