Embrace - Ins. Recommendations for puppy
I’m bringing home a puppy in two weeks. This breed (golden retriever) is prone to cancer and foreign body ingestion. We also live in an area with a lot of Lyme disease and I heard the vaccine doesn’t always work, so I want insurance that covers things the dog is vaccinated against (because we can do our best but Lyme could still get us).
Anyone have any recommendations? I’m overwhelmed with all the options. I don’t care about paying the vet directly. We don’t mind a higher deductible- we really just truly want catastrophic coverage like cancer or surgery. Dental problems (not cleaning but actual problems) would be good too but it’s not 100 percent necessary.
No matter what option I start to go with when I look it up there seems to be problems. I’m leaning to Embrace because they would cover Lyme. Trupanion seems like the rates go too high over time. Healthy Paws won’t do Lyme. Lemonade seems like people don’t trust it.
Progressive - I'm dumb. What am I supposed to do here?
Windshield claim, Progressive.
Hailstorms for days.
Deductible: $2000
Vehicle: Toyota rav4 2020
Progressive claims person asked do I want to get paid $2000 or pay for the windshield repair and have them pay the rest?
I haven't had to repair a windshield before. I didn't know what to choose.
Haven't gotten a quote but I don't think it'll cost 2k?
I didn't even know there would be choosing.
So before I do next step, adjuster etc: What... exactly am I supposed to do here? (I am feeling... cyberpunk dystopia atm)
Pets Best - Help with Pet insurance
I was hoping someone might have some insight on pet insurance. I have a 2 yo pit bull who, in the last year, started limping. (At this point, we did not have pet insurance) In May of this year, we took him to our vet and they did X-rays and said most likely he has a partial tear in his ACL, however he couldn’t really tell in the X-ray because he wouldn’t stop wiggling for the pictures lol. Fast forward 6 months, he has a hard time getting around now on both legs because he’s over compensating with the other leg which I was told would more than likely happen. I plan to get the surgery for him asap.
We got Pets best insurance a month later after his appointment in May and we are just about at the “6-month waiting period.” I’ve never dealt with pet insurance before. I am familiar with the fact they don’t cover “pre-existing conditions.” I fear that when we go back in January for a new consult that the insurance isn’t going to cover his surgery because we stupidly took him to the vet prior to getting insurance. I guess my question is, has anyone dealt with pets best insurance for this type of situation? How were they?
Also, would anyone recommend a different insurance company? I know there are a select few that cover pre existing conditions. I feel like I totally screwed myself taking him to the vet for this before getting insurance. He’s only two and I refuse to let him suffer his whole life because of this.
Thanks for any advice in advance. Picture for attention ❤️
Clements Insurance - Clements Insurance?
Has anyone used Clements Insurance? I'll be in Bangkok for 6 months to a year and I'm looking for full coverage on expensive personal property. They say they provide that coverage, but saying and doing....
Bank of America - Bank of America Denied My Fraudulent Claims
Last month, I was unfortunately the victim of identity theft and a scam. A scammer from Nigeria hacked my social media accounts, emails, and phone number. Worst of all, they somehow withdrew $3,000 from my checking account and spent it on cryptocurrency. At one point, they even asked me to send them nudes, which was terrifying.
As you can imagine, I have been severely traumatized by this violation. I immediately filed a police report and contacted my bank to report the fraudulent transactions. Despite submitting supporting documents—such as emails showing my passwords were changed and login attempts were made from Nigeria while I live in the U.S.—Bank of America has denied my claim twice, insisting that I authorized these charges based on my purchase history.
What’s most frustrating is that I have never purchased cryptocurrency in my life, so I am insulted to be accused of stealing my own money. As a young college student, $3,000 is a huge amount, and I feel furious and helpless. I am considering filing a claim with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, but I’m unsure if they can help me recover my money. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to hire an attorney.
What are my options? How can I get compensated? I feel betrayed by the bank I’ve been with for 10 years. If anyone has experienced something similar, please let me know.
Admiral - Someone has filed a claim against me... and I have no knowledge of it
My insurer (Admiral) got in touch with me late last week advising me of a claim on my account that I needed to check. Unfortunately I was on holiday so have only had a chance to look into it today.
However, I haven't been involved in any incidents at all - ever. I've never hit another car, had an accident, or been involved in a crash. My car has zero damage, no bumps or scrapes, even the paintwork is pristine (I use it infrequently) I've never once claimed on insurance, or even needed to.
I checked the claim date and I happened to be travelling to London and back that day from Birmingham for work (my once in a lifetime trip, last minute so couldn't catch a train conveniently). I can say for sure that I wasn't involved in an incident that day as I spent it all either on a motorway or parked at a hotel attending a conference.
The claim itself has no information attached for me to refute.
I haven't had a chance to call them yet (it's on my to-do list for later today) but have emailed them asking for more information/clarity.
What do I do from here? I'm confused, surprised, frustrated, and very worried that it's going to affect my insurance or future costs. Is it a fraudulent claim, or have I been claimed against in error?
Any advice is much appreciate :)
Erie Insurance - Erie Insurance. What do you think?
Was with another major isuance player, and was dissatisfied on their customer service. Will be nice and not mention the name. Erie Insurance was recommended to me by family member. Thhey have been with them for years and satisfied with their agent. I called Erie for a quote last month bu they were havig system issues. Agent advised they would call me back when resolved. It took almost 3 weeks (they called Thursday.
So what do you think of Erie? Would you be timid about a company that was 'down' for almost 3 weeks (unable to service existing policies or quote new policies)?
Aetna - Incorrect deductible charge from hospital. Any chance of getting money back?
I had a pre-op call with my hospital today prior to my bilateral salpingectomy (preventative birth control) procedure next week. I have a new Aetna plan with a $2k
deductible, so it didn’t seem crazy when the hospital said I owed $2k.
But now I’m hearing that my procedure should be free under the ACA. I was told I’ll get my receipt for the charge at my pre-op appt on Friday. Any chance of me getting this money back if I dispute? Can I do a chargeback on my card?
State Farm - First car accident March 24. Questions about injuries.
Hi everyone,
On March 24, I was hit on the side of my truck from an individual. This was my first ever car accident, and we are in Florida. After he hit me, we pulled over to the side of the road and instantly I had a headache and my neck was hurting. I called the local police and they asked me if anyone needed medical attention. I stated that I had a headache and my neck hurt, but I was able to drive because I was still kind of more in shock and shook up about the incident and didn’t know what to do and wanted to get out of there. Dispatch told me unless somebody needed serious medical attention to just exchange information document the accident and file it with insurance. I got the older gentleman’s information took a video and a few pictures of the crash and left.
Since that day, I have been living on ibuprofen because I have one of those annoying little headaches that won’t go away. I tend to go to get some x-rays and all of that done from medical but I was just informed from State Farm that the individual who hit me does not have bodily injury coverage.
Unfortunately, I work in construction and build houses and flexibility and mobility are a key to my work. I currently am sitting in my bed and took the day off because it does hurt to rotate my neck and this headache won’t seem to go away.
I’m new to all of this and any advice on what I should do next would be greatly appreciated. I really don’t want to have to come out of pocket to get myself back into working condition on something that I didn’t cause in the first place.
TIA!
