Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Warning: DO NOT sign up for Healthy Paws Pet Insurance!
I’m writing this because I wish someone had warned me sooner. My senior cat, insured for 8 years with no claims, has experienced outrageous increases in premiums over the past few years. At the rate that they are increasing premiums, I will be paying over $200 per month soon.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Unethical Rate Increases
This company raises rates SIGNIFICANTLY every year, especially as your pet ages when you actually start to need the insurance the cost becomes unreasonable. They give you corporate answers as to why they’re increasing rates despite claiming they want the best for pets. Do yourself a favor and do a quick search about HealthyPaws rate hikes and you’ll see why people choose to leave them. Hopefully someone decides to investigate soon.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Beware: They start you low & then BAM!
I just received my annual premium renewal for my Rhodesian Ridgeback from Healthy Paws and I had to call them to make sure their email was accurate: The email said they would be increasing my monthly premium from $157.40/month to $416.65/month. And this was for a policy that we literally never use. On the call, they said that the increase was due to the high amount of pet medical claims in my state. Insta-CANCEL! Sorry, but I won’t be subsiding other people’s pet bills. I’d rather put that $5k per year to work in a CD.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Healthy paws is a rip off
I have had healthy paws insurance for my Australian Shepherd, who is now 11 1/2 years old. I have never made any major claims for my dog. This last year had a few small claims after the 250.00 deductible because she developed an allergy. I was just notified that my insurance is going up from $97 to $148 a month. That is an outrageous jump from the previous years increase. I am debating whether to keep this insurance because she is 12 years old. I think it’s a big rip off when pay for your insurance and you never use it and now that she might need it, they raise the rates. They also have a who cares attitude when you call to speak to them. I have another dog that I got after my Australian Shepherd. I went with a different company just because of the rude attitude when I called to get a quote they really don’t care. So disappointing.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - I have been a loyal Healthy Paws…
I have been a loyal Healthy Paws customer for 7 years, but I can no longer recommend them. When I first signed up, my premium was $23.94/month for the best coverage—now, despite adjusting my deductible and reimbursement level to lower costs, my premium has skyrocketed with no real explanation.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - I have been a customer for 5 years
I have been a customer for 5 years. We have never submitted a claim. My dog is about to turn 7 and they have now doubled my monthly fee. In order to stay insured they want $124.00 a month. Absolutely ridiculous. And now that my dog is 7 it's very difficult to get insurance. So basically, I have paid $3720.00 for nothing. If I continue with the insurance, I will be paying $1488 annually. I still have a $250 deductible, and the pet insurance only covers 80%. SO basically over 10 years I am paying Healthy Paws $10,260.00 for 80% coverage. I will take my chances next time.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - HEALTHYPAWS is very deceptive in their…
HEALTHYPAWS is very deceptive in their non disclosure of jacking up your rates and worse yet, denying claims for no reason. I have three animals with this farse of a company and their new thing now is to say everything is a wellness check when it’s clear that an animal went in with symptoms and then diagnosed and sent home with meds and a treatment plan. I pay $$$$ for a plan that is disgustingly dishonest. Ever since Chubb bought them out they have become more and more dishonest. I’m so disgusted with them. Please do yourself and your pets a favor by not wasting a dime with this company there is no sense as they empty your pockets with their ever increasing premiums and then don’t cover your suffering animals. This is a mortal sin and they need to be called out on it by reporting to the Insurance commissioners.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - If I could give them a zero I would
If I could give them a zero I would. This is so unfortunate. We have been HP customers since 2014. We just got notice that our premiums are going up $300 a month. I want to be clear that this post isn’t because the premium increases, it’s that fact that it increased without reason by 300 a month! When I inquired I got numerous different stories reasons why (we have not had any claims in 5 years and zero with two of the dogs). When I inquired further the excuses just continued. We will be leaving and it’s sad. We were very loyal
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Greedy and Exploitative – Avoid at All Costs!
Healthy Paws used to be a great company, but greed has completely taken over. I’ve insured my two dogs with them for nearly a decade, since they were puppies. At first, the price increases were small—$35 per pet per month, then $45, then $65, then $90. Every year, the cost crept up, but I stayed loyal, thinking it was just inflation.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Shameful practices
Healthy paws has just increased my monthly premium from $250 to over $600 per month. This is outrageous and they appear to be blaming it on our state (California, the usual whipping boy for everyone). I have been a customer for many years with barely any claims. One of my dogs is older now and for almost the first time, I have made sizable claims so I’m pretty sure this is the real reason. But…..this is precisely why you pay into insurance from when they were puppies(in our case 8 weeks old) ….. so that all the years you pay premiums and claim nothing are at least partially offset by the claims you have to make when they age. I don’t know why they couldn’t make up the shortfall (if this story about what our state requires is true) on the back of new customers instead of shafting existing customers. Now I have to look for a new insurer for a dog with preexisting conditions. Shameful!
