Embrace - A little problem
No different than any other. Over priced by a lot! They do pay quickly once you figure out their cumbersome site. They do not allow a fax or photo by email as some do. They not doubled, not tripled, but now want to make my future payments 4 TIMES HIGHER the year before. I feel that is very unfair as my dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes. Before the increases were minimal…but you never know. The excuse they gave me is that “you know, everyone’s cost has gone up”. Right…but 4 times higher than the year before and they have included the increase for the cat that is healthy.
The date below is not accurate, but they don’t give me an opportunity to be more specific regarding this issue.
Embrace - I’ve had this insurance for two four…
I’ve had this insurance for two four years I used to have a different insurance that paid better every time you’ve processed your claims this insurance has been going up every year and pay it out less even if you don’t have your dog diagnosed for the correct disease they may have very difficult to get them to pay the full amount The other insurance I used to have with a lot easier to process. I really don’t recommend them so I went ahead and cancel them. It’s just not worth spending the money for two pets when they do not process the paperwork on time claims they request so much paperwork by the time you get done it’s like 30 days to have to wait to process granted you get a military discount but in the long run, it’s not worth it.
Embrace - Predatory Company
This company is incredibly predatory, avoid at all costs. They use past incidents of symptoms (like vomiting and diarrhea) as an excuse to deny claims for completely unrelated conditions, and utilize a blatantly subjective review of medical records - even against veterinary standards & consensus - in order to serve the company’s best interests. Symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea can occur due to MANY different conditions, diseases, and illnesses… that’s why they’re considered SYMPTOMS and not standalone conditions. But if your pet had a single instance of vomiting OR diarrhea within the past YEAR due to something like a diet change, bacterial infection, or just eating something it’s body didn’t agree with, ANY future condition associated with EITHER symptom will be considered a “preexisting” and denied on that basis. Eg., say you took your 4 month old puppy in for vaccines and told the Vet he/she vomited the day before due to getting into the trash or a recent diet change, and then 10 months later your dog needs emergency care for something like acute gastritis, a severe allergic reaction, or poison consumption (even intestinal blockages have been denied on multiple occasions) and vomiting is one of the symptoms, Embrace WILL deny the claim because of the past documented incident of vomiting (some customers have successfully challenged denials for blockages that required surgery after a time consuming appeals process, but those claims never should’ve been denied in the first place… Embrace frequently uses initial denials as a business tactic because they know a lot of people won’t even bother to jump through all their hoops).
So when I say they’re predatory, I’m NOT using that word lightly! They utilize a variety of dirty tactics to serve the company’s interests and avoid paying out their own customers. Just take a few minutes to read their BBB complaints and reviews and you’ll understand. There are far better insurance providers out there. Spot is THE best and most customer friendly company available (imo), but they’re a bit expensive. If the money’s an issue then I recommend Pets Best, their pricing is similar to Embrace but they’re LEAPS & BOUNDS better in terms of payouts and customer service. I’ve had policies with all 3 companies so my recommendations are based on personal experience.
Embrace - Bark up another tree. Stay away!
This company USED to be a decent company. NOW, it does not respond to emailsm nor calls. No one even answers the phone. We had over $1200.00 in claims and NOT ONE of them are eligible to be paid or for three months they are still "pending". What the negative reviews are stating IS TRUE!! DO NOT sign with this company. I am cancelling today!!! So tired of waiting to hear about "pending" claims though we and the animal hospital have submitted everything that was requested. BYE
Embrace - Disgusted doesn't even begin to cover it PT2.
Because I can’t reply to your response, @Embrace, I’d like to set the record straight for anyone following this issue. The acquisition of Embrace in late 2023 by private equity firm JAB Holdings, who now owns more than 10 pet insurance brands, should not be ignored. According to JAB’s 2024 Annual Report, their strategy is focused on using acquisitions to drive revenue growth, and they explicitly highlight “above-industry growth” in pet insurance, attributed to “partnership activations,” “premium increases,” and new business writings after consolidation.
So while you keep telling me my 200%+ rate jump is due to “normal aging and inflation,” your parent company openly reports that profit growth comes from raising premiums after rolling up multiple pet insurance companies. JAB’s own report states that their North American pet insurance platform, Independence Pet Holdings (which includes Embrace), posted “core brands GWP [gross written premium] up +30.7% vs. last year” and touts “rate optimization initiatives” as a main driver of that growth, not just rising vet costs.
Just here on Trustpilot, at least four of the brands that have been bought out by JAB Holding Company have received garbage ratings from consumers, with the most of them centered around astronomical rate hikes, frequent claim denials, and sudden policy cancellations without no notice. Does that sound familiar?
It’s disingenuous to blame these rate hikes solely on my dog’s age or veterinary inflation when the real catalyst is a private equity group, now holding a billion-dollar portfolio in pet insurance AND veterinary services, seeking returns through aggressive price hikes after acquiring trusted consumer brands. These financial maneuvers are spelled out in "JAB Holding company’s Annual Report 2024" explaining their investor filings for anyone who cares to look.
If you’re going to triple premiums, at least be honest about the reasons: it’s not just about our pets getting older, it’s about your shareholders’ profit targets.
Embrace - The worst!
The worst!! Price gouging worse than human insurance companies. It’s all a scam. So many better companies out there these days.
Edit: since I can’t reply to the canned reply from embrace I’ll do it here. There are SO MANY better options out there for pet insurance. Better coverage, WAY better prices and better reviews! Embrace is owned by a monopoly and they do NOT care about pets. They care about MONEY!
Please don’t believe the reviews that sing their praises. Either they are people who just signed up and haven’t had premiums double or triple the first time they renew, or they are totally fake reviews altogether. This insurance SUCKS.
Embrace - Would not recommend embrace ever again.
I loved this company til they screwed me over. Beware when your pet gets older they price gauge you to the point where you have to leave and you’re left with an elderly pet without insurance. And they don’t even care about it. Nothing was done to make it right. These companies ultimately don’t care about you or the well being of your pet. I will never recommend embrace ever again. Find somewhere else to insure your pets before they get older and they do this to you. My pets insurance went from $60 a month to almost $400 per month. Heartbroken
Embrace - My policy has gone in ten years from…
My policy has gone in ten years from $360.00 per year to $3600.00 per year for the same amount of coverage.
I realize that there is inflation and the cost of veterinary care has escalated as well. This seems excessive.
Despite the good customer care and reasonably prompt repayment, I would choose a different company to insure my dog.
Pet insurance has many additional companies who can provide service at a more competitive price.
In the past I have recommended this company to all my friends and in online dog forums. I can no longer do that.
Embrace - Rather cumbersome process

Embrace - Unrealistic Annual Renewal Rates
The customer service is fine, I'm giving this low rating due to the ridiculousness of their pricing algorithms. My pet's policy is set to renew in October and the monthly premium increased 68%! Yes, you read that right, 68%! I don't even know how that's legal? But I'm stuck with the policy since my dog has allergies (a pre-existing condition), otherwise Id go elsewhere. Shame on you, Embrace.
