Embrace - It's probably best that you don't ask…
It's probably best that you don't ask me for a review after you've sent me an automated message telling me that you've denied my appeal of your denial of my claim. I made a case that would stand up in court--but the appeal was not only denied--but denied by a machine, not a human being. My dog is suffering. His vet prescribed physical therapy in November (it's May now, BTW)--and we went to one of the few places in Chicago. Our claims were denied because there wasn't a vet on site. So, I then took him to a place with two vets on site. One of them prescribed Rune's treatment plan. The first treatment session was partially approved (they refuse to cover manual manipulation, which is necessary to determine the dog's condition). But his next treatment visit was denied because it was not performed nor directly supervised by the vet (the vets don't....do that; physical therapists do. They didn't directly supervise his first visit either, which they covered). I've had to hold off treatment while I've been waiting for my appeals to go through--and my dog is shaking. He may need surgery now--so I hope Embrace enjoys paying for that.
Embrace - Inflexible timing for policies
Purchased a policy last year for our 2 year old dog. Had first wellness visit and process went well, got reimbursed for the qualified amount fairly fast. This year we were notified by our vet that it was time for wellness so we booked based on our available schedule between business trips. Well, turns out the appointment was 1 day earlier than last year, so Embrace denied the claim saying the "new policy" hadn't started (even though it was submitted 2 months after the fact and we had a recurring policy). They used the exact 365 days instead of having any sort of flexibility to the fact it was a year later, which is not feasible when trying to schedule appointments around work. I asked if they had an exception process given we were talking only a single day, and they said they make no exceptions for any reason.
Beware that they have ZERO flexibility and will hold to the letter of everything without any exceptions. I explained I intended to be a customer for years with current pets and future, but they had no interest in keeping me as a customer. All due to a 1 day difference in the appointment.
Embrace - My problem it was not resolved
My problem it was not resolved, so I’m gonna cancel my policy
Embrace - Technological difficulties
Lately the app and on the website, submitting a claim was has been difficult. The app froze every time I tried to choose the hospital. The same thing happened just now on the website.
Embrace - Professional dysfunction.
This company refuses to inform clients on internal changes. For example why do they have a different payment processing center with a different name and not send out an email saying: “Hey, so and so will appear on your next banking statement.” I am currently looking for another insurance company.
Any good ones?
Embrace - poor quality phone service
The company does not seem to have a working telephone line. It puts you onto infinite hold and then never picks up. I have called at least six times without getting anyone to respond.
Embrace - Save Your Money
Embrace has never covered a cent of the costs associated with my vet bills. I have made thousands of dollars worth of monthly payments, submitted 13 claims, and not a single claim has resulted in any reimbursement.
Embrace - Do NOT trust this company
Do NOT trust this company, they weaponize their vague and overreaching contract language in order to deny claims as “preexisting conditions”. They deem one time SYMPTOMS like vomiting and diarrhea as related to ANY future conditions that cause those EXTREMELY common symptoms… ie say your puppy vomited from a food change 9 months before developing acute gastritis that needed treatment, Embrace will claim that the gastritis (or any similar illness that can cause vomiting) is related to a single vomiting or diarrhea episode that occurred up to an entire year prior to the new treatment date, even if the initial episode was completely unrelated or not linked to any condition at all, and even though both are SYMPTOMS of NUMEROUS different conditions and not illnesses in and of themselves, their philosophy is “well you can’t PROVE it’s not related”. Trust me, stay away from Embrace, they are a wholly predatory company. Spot and Pets Best are MUCH better. Also beware, they have a bad habit of using people related to the company in some way to write positive reviews, they are as dirty a company as it gets… you’ve been warned.
Embrace - App and Website error messages indicating submitted claims are not processed
App bounced me out on my phone. Said it was "unresponsive". Website gave me an error message that indicated it wasn't able to process the claims and apologized for inconvenience.
I am tech savvy and the website is not user friendly. I tried multiple times to submit claims.
The claims I have submitted are listed "on hold" and I keep submitting required invoices and they are still listed as such. 8 or more are pending.
After 3 hours, I emailed per the website and am waiting to hear about next steps.
Embrace - Will nickel and dime you against the deductible.
If my vet prescribes it, they should cover it. One of the medications my vet prescribed had significant neurological side effects. We discontinued it immediately. The vet sold us a different medication, that is apparently not recommended by the FDA but allowed him to recover. So the choice was continue with the FDA approved meds making my dog very sick, or give nothing and hope for a miracle, or give something that actually works but is not FDA approved.
My dog also would not eat anything. We tried everything. The vet sold us a few cans of a prescription diet so we could get him eat until he felt better. Disallowed... of course.
I'm curious what vet on the Embrace staff made the decision to disallow a portion of my claim, or was it just some person in a cubicle with no medical knowledge. Do I trust Embrace, not entirely. We will very likely change insurance for our next dog.
