They make you jump through so many hoops for approval. Asked for 2 major reports and i provided them. Now they’re asking for more which is deceiving. They’re trying to deny me. Do better!
Embrace - Embrace, A Typical Example of the Lightly-Regulated Pet Insurance Industry
Embrace, like all pet insurance, is a racket. Although I had no accident or illness claims, my year over year premium increase was over 100%. I have canceled my policy. Their customer service was always friendly, but rarely competent; unfortunately my experience of claims, underwriting and sales tactics fall into the lowest decile of all insurance companies I have dealt with.
Pet insurance as an industry has grown in size by leaps and bounds. The industry needs the attention of a large number of States' Insurance Commissioners to review current practices.
Overall, Embrace was expensive and difficult to extract concrete answers from.

Submitting a claim takes multiple attempts, both with the veterinary and by submitting the claim. I had to continually check in and determine what was happening with the claim to get it resolved and paid. some of the claims are still not completed from 10/22/2024
Embrace - Pays nothing
Pays nothing, just one example: insisted my elder dog's pneumonia was a preexisting condition from 3 years ago. Yes, he has had pneumonia for 3 friggin years! I cancelled, it is pointless as they will only take your money and reject every claim.
Embrace - Invoice requirement is confusing
This insurance really is a great help for the most part. It takes the stress of dealing with having to take your pet in for an emergency or an urgent need. The coverage is what you need it to be because you can choose the plan that fits your pet. However, it gets hard to send claims in. The requirement of an itemized bills is basically what the provider gives and yet it is not enough to get reimbursement. I basically sent everything that was provided to me by the vet clinic and even the clinic does not know what else is needed. The good thing about this insurance is they DO respond very quickly and they reimburse quickly as well. It is not a question if this is a good insurance because it is. The process and requirement is quite confusing.

Have been with Embrace for 6+ years. No issues with the insurance itself but their customer service is TERRIBLE with responding to emails! I'm still waiting for a response weeks later.

Very slow for payment. Nationwide paid within 72 hrs. Embrace takes weeks…why?

Embrace - Deceptive billing practices
Been with you for several years, and been very happy, until now. I never received a renewal email notice this year, nor did I receive notice the day before I was billed. Seems convenient, seeing as my premium had a 200% increase. And because I didn't notice it until the day I was billed, and you were closed , I had to wait until the next day to cancel. And then I was charged 15 dollars for those 2 days. You don't allow cancelation through the website. So, you should have 24 hour coverage, so when someone gets blind sided, they can take action immediately. I feel it is deceptive billing practices, and that is how I am going to address it to the BBB. I have had the same email address since joining, and it wasn't in my junk mail. I am sure I am not the only one who has been surprised.
Embrace - Pricy but good Customer Care
I rate them a 3 because I had them for 2-3 years and never had a claim. Not even a minor claim. My rate started around 20 a month and gradually moved up to 35 a month for barebones coverage. I have just in case something happens to the dog but not expecting to use. After the 3rd price hike, I reached out saying I was going to switch to another carrier due to their rates and asked if they could look at my history and see if there was anything that could be done with the rates. They said no. I have since switched to PetsBest and my rate for higher coverage is less than 1/2 the cost.
On the flip side, their app and customer care were always good to deal with but again I never had a claim. If you are in my shoes, I'd look elsewhere. Too pricy.
