USAA - Got rear ended and found a discrepancy in my policy I’m worried about
I got rear ended (hit and run) but it resulted in me hitting someone else. The guy I hit has a tiny scratch on his car and there’s deep crack mine that’s barely noticeable. The guy didn’t seem to care, he was fine, and seemed like he was in a hurry to get out of there before the police arrived. I got his license plate and he got my insurance information but I forgot to get his. Since there’s like barely any damage and no one got hurt do you think he’ll report it?
I’m worried because I have USAA but it’s the bare minimum and when checking my insurance policy, I realized I put that I own my vehicle but it’s actually leased. I still owe a few thousand on it. I want to be honest with my insurance but I am so worried about the resulting possibly financial burden. I live in VA if that matters.
State Farm - Advice!!!
Location: North Carolina
Ill glve you guys the short story. Was in wreck back in November.
Not my fault and my car was totaled. Called the other parties insurance, they
gave a story that the other person didnt have insurance since August. Went to
my insurance to file the claim and my insurance was lapsed due to failure to
pay. I was behine 2 months. So they dont want to fix my car. I still owe 20k on
my car. Anything that i could do besides let my credit take a hit?
GEICO - GEICO removed drive easy …?
GEICO removed my telematics discount after a month. Not exactly sure why the score seemed fine , in the high 80s, and it had been used regularly.
It is what it is, not sure I see the point in arguing with them. It drained battery any way. However, I’m concerned about how much more it will go up at renewal. Anyone have experience with this?
AAA - Cancelled my AAA car insurance
I had to get a new car unexpectedly in April. My AAA car insurance period was Feb-Aug. Called them on April 7 to let them know I got a new car and the premium was crazy, but you can't drive without insurance so I kept it. Shopped around and got a new policy for much cheaper starting May 1. Called and cancelled AAA and the agent said I might get billed a cancellation fee. NBD I thought. Nope. My pro-rated term premium was $840. My payment due after cancelling was $310! The math ain't mathing. $840 for coverage from April to August comes out to $168/ month. I wasn't even covered by the new rate for a full month. I've already called and the agent just said its a combination of things like the short rate and cancellation fee, but she can't give me an itemized breakdown of charges. Anyone got any advice? Is there a way to get out of paying this or at least getting them to come down?
I rejoined British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) last year, after a short time away. I like the extra comfort in having them as a backup for my driving. But, when I renewed this year, they had to fix a double payment issue. I had not caught the double payment myself. I paid online with a credit card. They charged the credit card the next month, without me knowing about it. FYI. Still staying with them for back-up but will check payments closer in the future. I got a refund and 9 months extra. fyi.
State Farm - State Farm vs Allstate claims processing
I am a SF policyholder that was rear ended by an AllState customer. I opened a claim with SF because I wasn’t sure of the Allstate customers limits and also wanted to use my PIP coverage from SF versus dealing with Allstate. That was an incredibly bad decision on my part. Allstate has done an OUTSTANDING job of handling my claim even though I am not a customer. They paid for 21 days of rental car within two days of me submitting my receipt. Allstate has been responsive by email and phone. SF on the other hand has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had. No response to emails, calls are routed to first line customer service that has zero knowledge and just submits a request or ticket to the actual claims handlers. My medical bills are going unpaid and now into collections, the hospital claim is sitting unhandled and the subrogation on the body damage is somewhere out in the ether waiting for one of the mystery claims handlers I can’t contact to handle. Jesus, my first claim with SF in over 30 years of being a policyholder and they treat my like a red headed step child and Allstate, who has no customer relationship with me, is johnny on the spot.
What a sad state of affairs that is SF. I have no idea how to get SF to move and handle their responsibilities short of a complaint to the Insurance commission. Is this the way it is with SF now?
Auto-Owners - I owe $12,000 to a collection agency
Location: Tampa, FL
Hi everyone, I just want to know if you were me would you fight this with a lawyer?
I was in a car accident in Florida in December 2024 while uninsured. A collection agency (on behalf of the original auto Insurance) is now coming after me for over $12,000. They didn’t notify me properly—I only found out after the DMV suspended my license and said I owe $15k. They’ve only sent a vague letter and a redacted repair estimate, but no real proof of liability, payment, or how they came up with that amount. The original insurance company of other driver -Auto-Owners never contacted me at all. I genuinely had no idea they submitted the claim. So all of this is so confusing.
Does this seem normal? It seems both companies aren’t giving me the info I need at all but want me to just cough up $12 or 15k
Thanks in advance!
Furkin Insurance - Insurance monthly premium
My dogs Furkin Insurance monthly premium just went up $18! Is this normal?!
Progressive - Progressive randomly added a driver to my policy making it go from $120 a month to over $600 a month. How?
I noticed my bill in an email was way more than normal and checked my payment history only to find out it’s the second time they billed me for that amount since I missed the first time (I was on vacation).
I called and apparently they added some random guy. I finally figured out it was a guy I had in my car when I volunteered at World central kitchen delivering free food to hurricane victims. This guy rode in my car once for half the day.
They said they emailed me and sent regular mail telling me about the change. I never got them because the vacation. They will not tell me how he got added to my policy and at one point hung up on me and I did not raise my voice and was polite but firm in asking what happened. I still have no answer. And instead of refunding me the money they just paid my bill for the year with the fund they took. I pay monthly normally.
I did not share phone info or have them track my driving with progressive so I cannot understand how they added this dude to my insurance. I remember this guy rode a bike everywhere and since my insurance went up so much I’m guessing he has a bad history.
How did they add this guy to my policy?
I’m planning to change insurance providers any suggestions?
Thanks for any info
Geico - Am I getting scammed or is this normal?
I posted here a couple days ago about a stolen motorcycle (thank you all for reminding me not to commit fraud) and I called Geico about some questions I had. The told me I could get the collision and comprehensive policy right now, after the theft, and if the person who stole my motorcycle gets into a crash with a stationary object or another car and the motorcyclist is at fault I could be compensated. I got qouted for the coverage and it's $4,717.62! I paid $791.07 originally and the new total will be $5,508.69. I'm assuming since this policy covers the vehicle its more but $4,717.62 is absolutely crazy. I don't think I will be getting the policy at this point because of the depreciation on the bike makes it worth around $8,000 and the insurance would be almost half what the bike is worth. Even at rates of a new rider that seems fairly high. I apologize for the rant,
QUESTION: Is this a normal quote for the policy on a motorcycle or is that something because I am a new rider?
