Pets Best - Why am I paying for insurance if you…
Why am I paying for insurance if you don’t cover 70% as stated. You are a scam like most insurance companies. If there isn’t medical history as my cat was healthy for years, why is it necessary to have this? IT DOESNT EXIST!
Fetch - Another greedy insurance company
Overall, just typical deceitful practice and straight up lying what is in the actual policy. Your claims will be denied, and they will pull out very broad and wide sweeping tiny print on why. I was shown several times in writing "every tooth, plus gums is covered" in actuality per policy no teeth are covered. The trick is to show you documents that are NOT the actual policy and just tell you what you want to hear. This experience has made me just done with pet insurance and I warn anyone who goes with Fetch to read the actual policy and not trust what is being said. Fetch works on a reimbursement basis, so I was confident in getting my cat treated as soon as possible, and foolishly relying on Fetch has caused me to be in a really tight spot financially and warn people to be prepared for 0 coverage from Fetch.
Pets Best - Nothing is ever eligible - total waste of money
It doesn't seem to matter how long I've had my policy, all of my claims are always denied for some reason or another. Seems like EVERYTHING is a preexisting condition or not within the timeframe of the policy.... For me it's been a total waste of money. I could have paid for almost everything with the money I've spent in monthly insurance payments.
Embrace - Horrible service
Horrible service, would not recommend. They are in it for the money and nog for your pets wellbeing or the customer. I have been a member since 2016 and had revised online because they kept raising their prices. I tried to revise it a month and realized it needed to be done over the phone. The customer sales rep was useless and had no knowledge of anything and put me on hold for 20 minutes to only come back and say they could not change my coverage and increase coverage back to what Ive had it at for 8 years. Crazy business they run, when asking why they said my dog is old and she probably has some issues. Which this is not the case. Needless to say I will be shopping around for a new pet insurance provider. This company is Garbage!
Trupanion - Trupanion steals my money
Trupanion steals my money. I have paid trupanion thousands of dollars since 2021 for health insurance for my dog. I have a 700$ deductable. On 12-28-2024, i took my dog to a emergency clinic in trupanion's network. My dog needed a pericardiocentesis. If he didnt get the neccessary treatment he would have died that day. The vet bill was approx 1250. Trupanion would have had to pay 550$ The vet spoke to trupanion stating the dog needs said treatment and not due to a pre existing conditiom. Trupanion stated they needed medical records going back to 2019 before they can authorize any life saving treatment. Not once via phone call, email or a letter did they request any medical information. I have even asked them when I changed my bank account info and updated them to continue payments. My dog almost died because trupanion would not pay 550$ plus my 700$ to treat the dog. I called to complain, they hang up on me and still bill me.

We are evaluating policies for a dog and Pets Best is half as much as the other Company we are considering. We had questions that could not be answered through their website or sample policy (e.g., what is a “participating Veterinarian” to be used to decrease the waiting period after initial enrollment) , so I tried contacting them via chat, but the system was overloaded and they directed you to the website or to call. I called them, noting that they don’t make their number easy to find on the website and the phone tree hurdles you need to clear to get someone are quite the gauntlet; that alone took 2 minutes 14 seconds. I was on hold for 20 minutes with no end in sight and decided that if it’s this difficult to reach them then we don’t want to do business with them.
Embrace - Look elsewhere for pet insurance.
I have had Embrace for 4 years as it is a preferred provider of USAA (which I am a member). To be honest, I am extremely unhappy with this provider. I have had the insurance for 4 years and have NEVER made a claim and my premium just doubled! Yes doubled! It was already extremely high to begin with. My pet insurance premium is now more expensive then my car insurance and my renters insurance combined! I will be finding a new insurance provider and plan on canceling my policy with Embrace asap. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for pet insurance.

If theres 0 stars i ll gladly give it to this insurance the shittiest money hungry insurance ever run away u ll be spending on your pet and pay the insurance these people will not cover u and its a joke an exam per year its like no point im spending 24 dollar more on insurance u dont get nothing back
Spot - Claims denied over and over
It shows SPOT as #1 that is scary!!! Pet insurance - My experience with SPOT has been more effort than value! I'm hoping for better in the future or maybe a different company is better. You be the judge and what do you want to spend your time doing? tracking down appeals?
They were so nice on the signup call and I elected for the premium "highest" plan and autopay monthly premiums. I understood things wouldn't be covered at 100%. I had no idea the leg work or if you get one visit a year and if an emergency comes up - every vet visit is denied.
I pay the vet and send the vet bill in to create a claim. Claim gets denied. Rince and repeat. Never once has it been it easy. I don't spend this much time on my own medical insurance. I'll pay the stupid tax I've signed up for but not a fan.
We have seen the vet only 4 times since I've started coverage, and my dog is 5 years old, thankful he's pretty healthy and I have gotten denial after denial. Told I'd have to appeal to have a claim reopened. Last claim was in December 2024 received email stating closed - denied - even though it was an emergency visit and all new things - not anything preexisting etc... $0 covered so its really hard to justify paying the monthly premium on top of the vet bill with $0% covered. Makes no sense.
I've sent all records over 4 times; Vet sent all records over 3 times exactly as SPOT requested for them to be sent.
Tried to call in a few times to customer service to figure out if I was doing something wrong - or needed to submit something different??? OR what hoops I'd need to jump through..... On hold on the phone with customer service for over 20 minutes and then they disconnected. What is your time worth?
MetLife - Metlife seemed promising at first
Metlife seemed promising at first, but our girl had an ER trip in December. Once a claim is submitted, Metlife estimates up to 5-10 days to process.
When more than 10 days had passed, I called to check in on the status. I was then told processing times were running more like 15-20 days. When I mentioned that they estimate 5-10 days, customer service said that this had been brought to her attention, but the wait would still be more like 15-20. I asked if this lengthy processing time is what should be expected moving forward, but the woman seemed a little annoyed by my inquiry~ really though, I DO want to know because if this is what it's going to look like moving forward, then I want to switch companies!!!
