Embrace - Pet insurance is a waste of money
It's not so much of what embrace did wrong as much as it is that getting pet insurance is a big waste of money. first of all, you get pet insurance in case of an emergency and you don't have cash at hand, correct? well you have pet insurance you pay all those premiums and everything and still during an emergency they don't cover it they pay you back so you still need cash on hand for any emergency, that doesn't make no sense. Me and my boyfriend aren't worried about getting paid back for paying for vet bills we are just interested in pet insurance just in case there was no money in our animal got hurt so I don't suggest pet insurance to anybody, I just decided to take everything that I would put towards pet insurance every month and put it away in a jar or something cuz then in an emergency I'll have that which would help but pet insurance does not help, so would I recommend pet insurance to anybody I would not I would tell them absolutely waste of money
Spot - Spot Pet Insurance jacked up my premium
I have been a Spot Pet Insurance client for about 13 months. My Premium for both my dogs together was 116/ month. When it came time for renewal, the charged me 151/month, over a 30 % increase. When I asked about his increase they informed me that it was due to the age of my dogs and because of the Vetinarian rates in my area. My oldest dog is 11 years old, so a 1 year increase in age should not translate into a 30% increase in premiums, nor do I beleive that Vetinarian rates increased by 30% in my area. Therefore, I consider this a "bait and switch" tactic. As a result, I cancelled my Spot Pet Insurance and will look elsewhere.

The response rate is EXTREMELY slow for very basic claims. It took months for Embrace to obtain obtain documentation which I obtained with a quick phone call. They payment for my covered claim took months. I would recommend paying more for another service for a better response rate.
Pets Best - Broad pre-existing condition
As a former Petsbest customer, I strongly advise other pet owners to steer clear of this insurance provider. My two-year experience with them was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Their definition of "pre-existing" condition is so broad that it will be very difficult for you to get reimbursement. The diarrhea-related claim I submitted took 5 months to process, and at the end I got an email saying my claim was rejected because they did not receive necessary medical information from my vet, while I feel they could at least inform me about this so I could contact my vet for the needed info. I then called to cancel the policy, but the representative of course tried to keep me on the policy and said they could re-open the claim for me. This time after two additional months, my claim was denied again, because it was a "pre-existing" condition as it had happened once before, when my puppy was 2 months old. As such, I was told all future GI-related issues will be considered preexisting condition and will not qualify for coverage. I feel that is very unreasonable, because a two-months old puppy just transitioned out of the breeder's home to me, the diarrhea could be caused by entirely different reasons, such as changing kibbles, environment. And the medical record supported this because my doctor didn't find anything wrong at the time, no parasite or virus after a panel check. The representative I spoke to on the phone, Richard, was also very rude and impatient when explaining the outcome to me. After faithfully paying premiums for two years, I have nothing to show for it. Petsbest's lengthy claim processing times, questionable denial practices, and subpar customer service make them an unreliable choice for protecting your beloved pets. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for pet insurance.
Figo - Really Bad Experience. Site Designed to Defeat You
The worst experience we've had with a service provider of any kind. The web site is set up to mislead you on your insurance choices and is not clear. Regular vet exams should not be the same as an emergency visit, but both are declined as being the same thing. The site is clunky and hard to navigate and don't expect claims to be settled in your favor. Save yourself our incredibly frustrating experience and don't waste your money here.
Trupanion - Trupanion claim obstruction
After filing a claim with Trupanion —during which process Trupanion’s support person refused to provide me with policy information or documents and then disconnected me during a chat—I got a follow up email from Trupanion asking me AGAIN for information I had already provided when the policy was established or when I filed the claim. It’s as if a) Trupanion has no consideration for my time b) they don’t bother consulting their records c) they do everything they can do not pay claims but throwing up obstacles or d) all of the above. I think it’s “d”. So I called them on the phone to find out. The rep I spoke to was unable to see information I have provided and had no answer for why they keep asking the me same questions. It does look to me like “c” is definitely true. I’ll make my next stop Oregon’s insurance regulator which I’m sure would be pleased to know of this kind of obstructionist behavior.
Fetch Canada - I am beyond disappointed with Fetch Pet…
I am beyond disappointed with Fetch Pet Insurance. Your lack of integrity and compassion is absolutely appalling. As young professionals with limited income, we trusted Fetch to protect our beloved puppy in case of illness, but instead, they left us with a $1,600 vet bill because of their nonsensical policies and refusal to provide the coverage we paid for.
Our puppy had diarrhea before our coverage began which began under the breeders care, which they conveniently used as an excuse to deny our claim when she later got seriously ill after the policy was active. Diarrhea is an incredibly common and minor issue in puppies, and it had no relation to the illness or the tests conducted she experienced later. Despite this, Fetch callously labeled it a "pre-existing condition" to avoid paying out.
Their customer service was unhelpful, unsympathetic, and showed zero willingness to work with us or address our concerns. It’s clear they are more interested in profiting from technicalities than helping pet owners when it truly matters.
We are canceling our policy and will never recommend Fetch to anyone. In fact, I’ll be warning every dog owner I know to steer clear of this company. If you value your pet’s health and your financial security, do NOT waste your money on Fetch Pet Insurance. They’ll happily take your premiums but will find any excuse to deny your claims.
Figo - Ridiculous Price Increases
I have had this pet insurance for about 5 years. I understand that prices increase year over year, but I did not expect it to jump 60% or more for my pet. I had 2 pets enrolled and each of them increased over 60%. I did place a pretty price claim in this past year, so I bet they are trying to recuperate their expenses. I think this is AWFUL customer experience and therefor cancelled immediately.
DO NOT TRUST INSURANCE COMPANIES!
It is crazy to think that paying for my 2 dogs would be "almost" more expensive than having health insurance for my family of 5! Cheaper to pay out of pocket at this point "IF" something were to happen.
With the insurance monthly cost, deductible + only 80% coverage, THIS IS NOT WORTH your money! Save it, invest it and you will win out in the long run.
