Emblem Health - Baby Formula Coverage
Has anyone had any luck getting Emblem HIP to cover prescription formula (Nutramigen) due to a baby’s milk allergy? Emblem is of course giving me the runaround
Erie Insurance - Erie Insurance Rate Hike 2025
Got the new 2025 Auto Insurance invoice from Erie Insurance. The only thing I can figure is one of my adult sons hit an unknown object lying in the middle of the turnpike late at night that resulted in some damage to one of our cars. It wasn't anyone's fault and Erie ended up paying out about $3,500 for repairs. But I don't think that justifies such a huge rate increase for each vehicle!!!
**Anyone else get huge price jumps from Erie Insurance?**

State Farm - It has been a month I have submitted my kitchen water damage claim without updates. Is this common? (State Farm)
I filed a water damage claim a month ago and have not gotten any sort of compensation or even an update on the claim. They sent an adjuster out but I have heard nothing since besides they are behind on claims right now. I have called several times a week and my agent/adjuster does not pick up besides one call back saying they are behind and to sit tight. Is this standard for State Farm?
Nationwide - Nationwide. How screwed am I? Planning for the future.
Noticed that my company offered Nationwide pet insurance. Have a 9-year-old large mixed breed dog, 14-year-old Turkish Angola cat, and two one year old Persian cats. Went ahead and applied and all 4 were approved with $100.00 deductible and 80% reimbursement, and $5,000.00 limit for accident, illness and congenital & hereditary. Right now it's a year long policy. I have since been reading up on some horror stories dealing with Nationwide. I wished I had researched more thoroughly beforehand. I just wanted peace of mind. Now I'm not so sure. It is what it is. How do I deal with this in the meantime and what company should I be looking out for next year?
Kaiser Permanente - Moving States
I’m so frustrated, I moved from maryland to new jersey a few months ago and I want to apply for NJ Familycare. So i’m trying to cancel my medicaid in Maryland and my insurance provider is Kaiser Permanente, I called kaiser and they told me my plan was ending 3/31/25 HOWEVER that said 2024 plan. There was also a 2025 plan that said it was valid through 1/09/25 - 12/31/25. On my Maryland Health Connections I got a message saying it would be ending on 3/31/25 which is exactly what i want, but why does kaiser have another plan that says active?? Idk why all this is so confusing and i called multiple people for about an hour or so and no one seems to give me the same answer.
FedEx - PSA lost cards to grade
I was part of a bulk submission of cards. We insured them for shipping with FedEx for $26,000. FedEx deliver the box but it was kind of damaged. PSA signed for the box then decided that they were gonna refuse delivery and return to sender. PSA just then lost the box. PSA is taking responsibility but offering a low ball replacement value to people. For example, I had vintage cards and I've done the insurance about $200 and they are offering $10 a card. Is there any recourse?
Priority Health - Priority Health: how is "$2000 out of pocket" not "$2000 out of pocket"?
So my son receives ABA services through a tier 1 provider. This goes through deductible and coinsurance. $650 individual deductible, $2000 coinsurance (minus prescription and copay, solely for him, the numbers mentioned don't apply to family deductible). $0 is covered until the $650 is hit, 80% is covered until $2000 is hit, then 100% covered after.
So I call up insurance because last year's bills are much higher than expected. I don't even know the total yet for just last year. And I can't look at the online EOBs yet until tomorrow.
So, $650 is covered very quickly. Then there's a $6000 bill (for one date of service) sent to insurance. 80% is covered, we cover 20%. This is where I get so confused. Apparently because the first day wasn't processed first ($11,000) and this $6000 was processed first, she said we are actually paying so much less money overall for the year. We have to pay for the 20%... But it doesn't sound like it counts towards the $2000? We might be paying a total of $4,000-$5,000 once this is all said and done.
It went like this...
"So if I've already paid the $2,000 towards ABA, why do I have to pay over that?"
"Because you're responsible for 20% after the $650 is paid until you reach the $2,000. You're actually paying so much less because that $11,000 wasn't processed first, so you're coming out on top. Otherwise you would have had to pay $2,2000."
My brain hurts. I don't know what's going on. That would have put me over the $2,000 and it sounded like he still wouldn't have been considered as reaching the $2,000....
Someone please explain 😭
Liberty Mutual - Insurer offering ~10% of repair cost
This is my first rodeo with homeowner’s insurance (Liberty Mutual) and it’s a nightmare. Looking for advice on how to proceed. The backstory is that a local company installed a new appliance in my home and bungled it. Their mistake caused some water damage to my kitchen and major damage in the finished room directly below. The appliance company gave information for their insurer, but when the initial water remediation was done and uncovered the extent of the damage, I filed a homeowner’s insurance claim instead and figured they would subrogate.
I currently have a wall in my kitchen down to the studs with some cabinet boxes, trim, and the dishwasher removed and sitting in my sunroom. The counter is being held up by a piece of scrap wood. There are some minor signs of gapping in the hardwood floor that is usually hidden from view, so I’m hoping to let it ride. Meanwhile the room beneath the kitchen is uninhabitable. One wall is down to the studs with no insulation (exterior wall), LVP flooring removed, and holes in the ceiling from water remediation equipment. I received a repair estimate from a local contractor for $25k (HCOL area, home value approaching $1mil). This includes insulation, sheet rock, plaster, paint, baseboards and trim, ceiling repair, LVP flooring downstairs to replace what was there, reinstall of existing cabinet boxes, and plumbing. It does not include new cabinets or counters.
My claim with Liberty has been in process for 8 weeks and a field adjuster came out 2 weeks ago with radio silence since then. The contractor has also been contacting Liberty for updates. Liberty called today and said the field adjuster calculated $700 to repair the kitchen and $2300 to repair downstairs for a total of $3k. I understand it’s an initial offer and figured I won’t come out of this without burning cash of my own, but it doesn’t cover the cost of materials let alone labor. And there’s not even a guarantee that my custom cabinets and counters will come out the other side looking the same.
What do I do from here? Do I eat $20k up front and turn around and sue the appliance company to be made whole? I thought that was why I had homeowner’s insurance but this is a real nightmare. And to top it off I’ll be adding a newborn to the mix in less than 8 weeks with my house in shambles and no dishwasher (first world problems, I know).
Thin Blue Line Benefits - Thin Blue Line Benefits and Live Freely
FYI
Thin Blue Line Benefits now has a company called Live Freely Health contacting members about claims. I got an email and then called them. TBL did not send out a message stating this would happen. The rep at Live Freely said they are just letting people know the claims will be processed. I personally call it "buying time" and would not give them any personal information.
Farmers Insurance - Car totaled July 4th
Alright here we go. So July forth I was going down a back road (rainy) as I cut the corner I see this Tahoe coming at me at a 90 degree angle (she lost control) and just smashes into me. I didn’t have insurance on this car I had it’s one of my cars I don’t drive often, but with all the pictures and you can clearly see it’s her fault farmers insurance is still denying that’s it her fault I’m at total loss of words (no dash cam) I’m not going down without a fight or a payout so I’m consulting a injury lawyer but is this how it really goes? The pictures her car is just layed smashed into my car and they say it wasent her fault?
