Embrace - Rates quadrupled this renewal
I have had this insurance company for over 5 years, and rates went up very minimal until this year. I was shocked to see that our rates had quadrupled this year, and reasons were various! Called to get quotes from other companies, and they were nowhere near as high, nor did they raise their prices as much as this company did.
Healthy Paws - Healthy paws is a rip off
I have had healthy paws insurance for my Australian Shepherd, who is now 11 1/2 years old. I have never made any major claims for my dog. This last year had a few small claims after the 250.00 deductible because she developed an allergy. I was just notified that my insurance is going up from $97 to $148 a month. That is an outrageous jump from the previous years increase. I am debating whether to keep this insurance because she is 12 years old. I think it’s a big rip off when pay for your insurance and you never use it and now that she might need it, they raise the rates. They also have a who cares attitude when you call to speak to them. I have another dog that I got after my Australian Shepherd. I went with a different company just because of the rude attitude when I called to get a quote they really don’t care. So disappointing.

I haven't heard anything from you yet. And you guys charge me . But haven't received any mail or email about my policy. I think I'm going to cancel you guys
Trupanion - Trupanion failed badly
First claim after one year as a new client. We claimed a Cardiology consult due to a cough. Pet had never had any known
cardiac issues. However, buried in her many years of records was a single one time remark about a mild arrhythmia during dental anesthesia. Trupanion used this to deny us a claim. This was never mentioned in their Medical Evaluation they do in your first month with them.
Honestly they must have used AI to find such a tiny detail in 11years of records.
Fought them for a month on this. Even had the Vets send in statements saying this can be absolutely normal and not what they were trying to say. Trupanion stuck to their guns. So we quit them. No need to keep paying them a premium for nothing.
Ended up, what they used to deny our claim wasn't even the issue. Learned our pet had cancer completely unrelated to anything cardiac. So their argument wasn't even relevant. They were so closed minded and they look for ANY reason not to cover. First and last experience with this useless company. I do not like being ripped off after being blindsided by a detail not included or mentioned in their initial 30 day medical evaluation. We had Pet Plan 10
Years before them with zero issues until they raised rates on us after being bought out.
Stay away from these folks unless you start with a perfectly healthy newborn pup. They do everything they can to “connect one thing to another” and deny deny deny, accurate or not. And they mislead you with their new member Medical Evaluation. Terrible. Do not trust them.

Pets Best - Non of medical expenses were covered
I have a newly adopted dog that came from a rescue. The dog came with no known medical history. After repeatedly having digestion issues I took him to a pet emergency. Almost all of the services that were provided by the clinic were described as covered in my policy. I had to wait a whole month before the claim was processed and I was finally notified that I get $0 back. The only provided explanation was "preexisting condition."

After purchasing pet insurance I received an email asking for the review. Yes, my purchase experience was great, my card went through. Yet I am leaving 2 stars due to this deceptive business practice of asking for the review before any services were actually provided.

Embrace - Wellness visits not reimbursed
Paid for the extra Wellness coverage, and the limit did not come close to covering my cat’s neuter. I thought I was buying the most complete policy, but instead they classified my cat’s pre-neuter visit as a wellness exam.
Even before this, they stopped issuing the point of sale credit card I had used to pay at the vet office, so that now the only option for credit for veterinary care at the clinic is Care Credit.
There has been a series of disappointments for me with this company, such as when they automatically renewed my policy and charged my debit card for $600 without my knowledge or any notification.
I was really counting on getting reimbursed for kitty’s procedure. I will definitely be exploring other options such as USAA or Costco after this latest disappointment.

You literally have 1 job: intake, process and pay claims. and absolutely NONE of that process is working right now.
i had a $700 ER visit yesterday and can't even submit the claim for it b/c your site is broken.
And that's on top of how you wouldn't process multiple claims b/c you didn't have medical records for a vet i haven't been to in 3 years b/c i literally moved out of state. Now. That confusion would be understandable had I not called you THREE TIMES to tell you that and had you not told me all 3 times you understood and were fixing it.
Pets Best - Better explanation if additional attachments are being requested
I have seen that the claim has been processed, but I have not received the payment yet.
Also, when requesting additional information it would be nice to know why the request is being made. After 3 requests, I finally called and the customer representative was very nice in explaining why the 3 different requests for the medical records.
