Nationwide - the website froze sooo many times that…
the website froze sooo many times that I had to start over 3 times. other than that was easy to set up
Healthy Paws - Collected my monthly fee for over a year
Update based on their reply:
They claimed "In situations where there is not a ton of medical history available, at minimum we will require the notes from the enrollment exam as outlined in your policy in order to process claims." I provided medical records dating back to 2017, with the most recent being 60 days prior to enrollment. TLDR; They use every technicality they can to deny claims.
They've been collecting my monthly fee for over a year and apparently I didn't provide the medical documentation they needed at time of enrollment – despite them sending be a confirmation email that they received my medical records AND the policy is active. Which means that this entire time I'm enrolled with them, nothing I ever would have submitted would get covered. Additionally, they're claiming one item as pre-existing condition, referencing the very medical records (from 2018) that they just said they can't use for our latest issue. Literally the one time my pet has ever needed coverage and during a very emotional time where he was diagnosed with a terminal condition. These companies are absolutely horrific and I'm never buying pet insurance again. Save your money and put your monthly fees in a savings account for medical issues – it will do you more than these companies ever will.
Nationwide - Bad option for lifetime of a dog…
My dog has been covered with nation wide for 8 years. They got rid of a lot of pet plans currently and this last year. If your dog has preexisting conditions before they are 9 years old, you are screwed if you have nation wide. If you want your dog be covered for a life time do not go with Nation wide. Now, I have my dog's preexisting conditions that will never be covered because of Nation wide kicking us out of their plan. Nationwide will betray you when the dog gets old.
Embrace - I feel the policies are too expensive, too many pre existing, cannot get thru on the phone line, FAQ's page is worthless
I feel the policies are too expensive. Instead of giving you all 160 dollars a month I should have put those monies in a bank account since most things you claim are pre existing. After one year of coverage, I submit a claim for $206.00 and I find out I have a $500 deductible. Secondly, I tried to call and was on hold for 20 minutes prior to disconnecting. Lastly, after going thru the website to submit the claim it kicked me out and make me complete it all over again. Horrible experience, I will be discontinuing coverage with you all, with more thought about all the exclusions you have on my two pets makes sense to just save the monies and put in an acct.
Spot - Absolutely the worst Pet Insurance…
Absolutely the worst Pet Insurance Company! Filed a WELLNESS Claim and they denied it even though it was covered. I have sent in the Invoices 19 times and they say they can't read them, but I sent the same invoices to other people and they are just fine.
SPOT PET INSURANCE IS A SCAM! DO NOT USE!
Fetch Canada - What I find disturbing is my pup got…
What I find disturbing is my pup got insurance with fetch my pup was 8 weeks old and was told it will be $150 a month my sister also signed up and her play was $56 I called and was told it is because of her postal code we live 10 minutes away from each other so that makes absolutely no sense. So today a payment was due and they tried to take twice the amount that was her plan price. I will be canceling Maizie’s policy tomorrow along with my sister as she said the same thing. My vet said it is better to just save the money and if we don’t use it then we won’t be wasting money. Smart vet
Spot - Sometimes have to submit claims twice…
Sometimes have to submit claims twice or call customer service to get a claim paid.
Pets Best - Pets best is the worst
We paid for premium coverage and they only paid $150 of a $980 bill for getting our dog neutered. My understanding was this procedure was %100 covered. Do not use this provider, they take over 60 days to pay out often with no exploration of the payout. Use embrace instead
Trupanion - disappointed by loopholes
After a year my dog had an accident and we went to the ER. This is the first time I learned that I have a 10% copay on all claims and also that no exams are covered.
Both in the intro video and online materials these 2 points were not made clear. In addition, before I signed up, I talked to a representative and asked about hidden costs. I knew that there would be no coverage for wellness exams or vaccines. I am fine with that. I was not told about either of these 2 loopholes before I purchased the insurance. When I called, the representative was very nice but told me that it was all in my contract. The one that is 20 pages long and unreadable by anyone other than a lawyer. Forgive my cynicism. This feels a little underhanded. It should be laid out up front and easily accessible to any consumer trying to do due diligence.
I had to pay out hundreds more than I expected for this visit. Disappointed.
Fetch - STAY AWAY
I have had coverage with them since my dog was 2 months old. Fast forward 8 years I finally submitted a claim. When I got my renewal amount it literally tripled in cost! I paid them 8 years for nothing and this is how they treat their loyal customers. I canceled my plan. I can put that money in a savings account in case something happens.
