I have both of my dogs insured with this company, but the coverage is based on specific conditions and they reimburse almost nothing. The amounts they cover for illnesses are extremely low compared to actual veterinary costs. I do not recommend this insurance. There are other providers that reimburse a percentage of the total bill regardless of the condition, and with lower premiums.

Been a customer with 5 Pets on plans for over 4 (some of them 6) years and was given misinformation by one of the customer representatives causing 3 of my pets plans to lapse. I was very understanding that mistakes happen and I had to reenroll them.. that was up until through the process my within a year records weren’t good enough and now I have to pay for an exam that would’ve been covered had I not been given misinformation. - If I’m completely starting over with a company I’ve been loyal to but isn’t willing to work with me in return, might as well shop around since have to start from complete scratch anyway.

Same information requested multiple times. Takes too long to process. Such a small amount paid hardly worth the coverage

Do NOT use this company. Once a great company, no longer! We have had insurance with them for over 12 years and our dog was diagnosed with periodontal disease years ago and they said, no worries they will never use a diagnosis to increase your rates or not cover you in the future BUT guess what, now that she needs surgery they will not cover her costs of between $4k-6K (don't even get me started on the Vet pricing) because we did not have her teeth cleaning completed within 3 months of her pet visit. Had no idea, I advised them that our Vet left the practice and we just found another so missed out by 4 months. Does not matter, what the circumstances are, sorry! Take your money, put it aside and forget about using Trupanion! So disappointed and to those who say, oh we have had no issues, either did we! Wait for it!

Your claim process has been incredibly frustrating. I submitted a claim on 5/20/25 and even though I submitted further required data on 5/30/25, the claim still has not been processed. You expect me to pay my monthly bill on time, yet you are in no rush to process a claim or send a check to your customers. Not too mention, I can't help the way the veterinary office writes their notes, and yet if it's not in the exact format you want, then the customer gets penalized.

Terrible customer service, I missed out on over $600 worth of claims last year, I talked to someone on the phone and he was rude, self serving and not helpful.

The pricing is extremely inconsistent from year to year. There is no ability to re-quote at different coverages without calling an agent when my price jumps or drops.

Never had to use it in the entire time we have had it only the price keeps going up even though I have never used it
