Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.
Embrace Pet Insurance - Predatory Company
This company is incredibly predatory, avoid at all costs. They use past incidents of symptoms (like vomiting and diarrhea) as an excuse to deny claims for completely unrelated conditions, and utilize a blatantly subjective review of medical records - even against veterinary standards & consensus - in order to serve the company’s best interests. Symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea can occur due to MANY different conditions, diseases, and illnesses… that’s why they’re considered SYMPTOMS and not standalone conditions. But if your pet had a single instance of vomiting OR diarrhea within the past YEAR due to something like a diet change, bacterial infection, or just eating something it’s body didn’t agree with, ANY future condition associated with EITHER symptom will be considered a “preexisting” and denied on that basis. Eg., say you took your 4 month old puppy in for vaccines and told the Vet he/she vomited the day before due to getting into the trash or a recent diet change, and then 10 months later your dog needs emergency care for something like acute gastritis, a severe allergic reaction, or poison consumption (even intestinal blockages have been denied on multiple occasions) and vomiting is one of the symptoms, Embrace WILL deny the claim because of the past documented incident of vomiting (some customers have successfully challenged denials for blockages that required surgery after a time consuming appeals process, but those claims never should’ve been denied in the first place… Embrace frequently uses initial denials as a business tactic because they know a lot of people won’t even bother to jump through all their hoops).
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - BUYER BEWARE - Coverage Drop at Age 7!
Just received my renewal after 10 years of covering our dog since he was a puppy. I've paid the expected rate increases each year. I've held a $250 deductible with 90% reimbursement coverage the entire time.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - New Math invented by Healthy Paws
Yes, honest and helpful.... really ? I have purchased insurance from Healthy Paws when my dog was 5.5 years old ( in 2017): I chose 70% company-30% me, and 500$ deductible. I have paid for 7-8 years, never used it. They don't pay regular visits. I took my baby to ER back in January 2025. After a short visit of few hours the final bill was $1000. My deductible was $500, so then they should have paid 70% according with my plan. They said they don't pay the visit ( $250), so I was left with 250$ bill hoping to get 70% which means $175.00... well Healthy Paws invented a new Math and sent me a check of $46. Please be aware they do not cover the percentage they said !!!!
Go Pet Plan - Advert do not increase premium is a lie.
I have a young cat, premium went up after one small claim. 1 bout of diarrhea they make anything to do with the stomach exempt.
MetLife Pet Insurance - Metlife is the WORST!!! NEGATIVE STARS!!!!
I would give negative stars if I could. The absolute WORST!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! My mother purchased a policy for puppies. Within less than 60 days afterwards, my mother passed away at the end of March. It took until June to finally gain access and for MetLife to grant me the authority to her account to get the policy transferred to my name so that I could submit claims for services provided for the puppies. The process of submitting claims is not easy. You will need to be sure that your veterinarian gives thorough soap notes as well as an itemized invoice in order to file claims. So if your veterinarian is difficult to work with in this process it will indeed it affect your ability to get reimbursed for the claims. Metlife was far from easy to work with took forever to get me on the policy and then ended up denying the claims because it had gone over the time to submit claims. How convenient for them? When the policy itself states that I should have had the authority to act on my mother's behalf. The claims were still denied regardless of my situation. I would NEVER recommend MetLife Pet insurance. My mother was elderly. Even if she didn't pass away and tried to do this on her own it would have been very difficult and confusing for her to accomplish. She would have most likely just thrown her hands in the air and given up. When you log into your account there's very limited information. There's zero history regarding payment history, communication history, message history, etc. It's very basic. It makes communication with them complicated and confusing. 👎🏼👎🏼
Pet Insurance - It was easy to choose the plan but…
It was easy to choose the plan but still now I didn’t receive an approval.
Pet Insurance - Never got anymore information after I…
Never got anymore information after I paid almost $70 to start the insurance for my cat. Total rip off.
Pet Insurance - I went through the entire sign up…
I went through the entire sign up process and then was rejected. Which reminds me to make sure Nationwide did put anything on my card
Trupanion - Find another animal insurance company. Terrible!
Trupanion used to be a great company, but over the last couple of years, it’s completely changed, and not for the better. I would go as far as saying this company seems like a total scam these days.
Trupanion - You nickle and dime your customers
You nickle and dime your customers - even long-term customers yet raise our rates every year blaming it on veterinary charges going up. This is a joke and a scam
