Embrace - I was paying a high premium each and
I was paying a high premium each and every month for my two dogs and that is now increased up to $120 a month for both my dog. This is the second time I tried to use my insurance I’ll pay for something which is what you get insurance for in the first place. First time I was denied the second time now I only got less than half had to pay $250 deductible, which is crazy after all I pay each month.
Healthy Paws - Do not use healthy paws
Healthy paws was a great company years ago. Now they constantly raise rates with no reason. This time my pets insurance went from $180 a month to $375 a month. We started at $80 a month.
They also try to say they need your pets medical history but aren't receiving the files. I literally sent it 5 different ways and I did not receive a confirmation until I told them they would be speaking to my lawyer
Do not use this company, there are so many options these days.
Trupanion - Do not recommend
Deductible is per condition, not per year, and they exclude a lot. They pay pennies on the dollar.
Embrace - Your customer service sucks
Your customer service sucks. You may be good at pet insurance but 20 minutes to get someone to answer a phone call is pathetic.
Trupanion - They have countless loopholes for not…
They have countless loopholes for not covering standard accidents and illnesses. This is a sham of a service. Don’t enroll, you are wasting your money.
Embrace - It't a waste of money they never pay on…
It't a waste of money they never pay on any claims
Trupanion - Was disappointed to see that exam fees…
Was disappointed to see that exam fees are not covered at all.
Embrace - Never Pays
Brought my puppy in for a little temporary leg soreness making her limp. I knew it was going to cost $100+ but the one thing I could rely on was a sick visit being covered. Long story short, they declined to cover and said their 6 month orthopedic issues clause prohibits those kind of claims in the first 6 months. I knew of this clause and would have waited another month if I remotely thought they would actually stick me with this clause. Well they did. No diagnosis of anything orthopedic but I got a $160 bottle of anti inflammatories for her in the end.
Between my vet and these guys, I am better off hoping whatever ails our pets just goes away. What a racket.
Response: i have a puppy who was covered for five months already. No one knows about small print exclusions, you don’t advertise those. No fraud and again, I would have waited a few weeks. The law is the law and I live in a crap state. I get that. I am afraid to go to the vet now so pets will suffer unless it’s really urgent. You went from asking for notes saying she wasn’t having orthopedic issues to making me prove she doesn’t have dysplasia. I think adjusters can see based on pet age and that timeline there is no fraud here. Empower your adjusters to make decisions. We are paying for this.
Spot - multiple claims denied that are…
multiple claims denied that are covered. for every time you submit a claim you have to resend medical history for every single vet visit your pet has been to in the past, Why don't they keep that on file? Then they deny it. waiting on over $1000 in reimbursement for covered claims that they are denying.
Embrace - Disappointing
Unfortunately, I find myself following in the same footsteps of many one-star reviews. Initially, I told everyone, who would listen, how happy I was with my Embrace Pet Insurance Policy. My policy started off at $47 per month and grew rapidly from there. By year seven, my policy with the same coverage, was $225 per month. By year eight, my monthly premium increased to $425 per month, that’s a 900% increase over the starting cost. Similarly, I was told it was because of my dog’s Breed and age. However, a quick price check with Embrace’s cost on-line tool, using the exact same parameters, zip code, age, breed and exact coverage (limits and deductibles) showed a $200 per month discrepancy. So clearly, I wasn’t being charged the going rate for my dog’s breed.
Embrace customer service offered me one of their step-down “accident only” policies, which I accepted. My dog had a fall while swimming; afterwards, he was experiencing limping in both front shoulders. I submitted all three of my dogs visits, from a major Veterinary Hospital in Boston, to Embrace under the “accident only policy”. The Embrace adjuster denied all three claims, she concluded his fall and shoulder pain was caused by an illness. I appealed all three claims and included a personalized note from the Senior Surgeon, who treated my dog. The surgeon concurred with his Hospital’s Ultra-Sound Department, that my dog’s pain and limping were the result of an injury to the soft tissue of his shoulders. My dog’s treatment plan was based on a soft tissue injury. The Embrace adjuster denied all three appeals and she concluded that my dog’s osteoporosis arthritis, from his rear left leg (which formed after a ACL surgery) had spread to his shoulders and caused both shoulders to limp. The Embrace adjuster overrode a Senior Boston Orthopedic Surgeon and the Imaging department of a World-Class Boston Hospital.
I promptly canceled my policy, as I knew that my disappointment with Embrace would only grow from here. I promised myself that I would circle back with everyone from my colleagues at Pfizer to my social media presence, to share my disappointment with Embrace Pet Insurance.
